+3 votesblablabla23 on 30/03/2012 - 21:46 ¶lol "5.0 megapixels + HD video recording". Clearly constitutes under misleading conduct but is anyone going to take action?
+3 votesspawnpoint on 30/03/2012 - 22:00 ¶$319 is still too much for a 3 year old phone, specially when the Galaxy Nexus went for $399 + shipping. Sure you have to pay extra for calls and sh!t but in the end, you still got 3 years better tech at the end of 11 months
+1 voteI wasnt comparing the 3gs to the N97 in technology wise as 3gs is better. It was the first old sorta popular phone (2009)that came to mind. It did come out 6 months prior 3gs.
I was trying to make the point that old technology should not be sold at ridiculous prices or plans.Even my iphone 4 is lagging on new update of 5.1 and home button is stuffing up so I cant imagine how much its struggling on 3gs. If this was on the $19 a month plan then I wouldnt have cared to comment as that is the plan this phone should be on or $199 prepaid.
I owned a 3gs and it was good at that time but we are in 2012 and have much more so why bother getting something thats 3 and a half years old.
+1 voteActually Iphone 4 is not identical it has retina display, 512mb ram, 1ghz A4 cpu(800mhz to save battery), 5mp camera, better design, facetime capable and more. The only thing is graphics chipset is the same.
It might be lagging if to many apps are installed or open in background as its only got 256mb of ram.
+1 votedouble click the home button and kill all apps that u don't use, most likely you never close your apps. this iphone running similar like a computer, once you open the apps, and if u don't close the apps, it is running on the background and will take your memory, same as you running computer with many apps open at the same times
+3 voteshey I have a 3G and its still functional
yeah, it's "functional", but with each OS upgrade, it's been lagging more an more… games are fine, but simple things like changing screens, taking a picture, browsing are getting quite frustrating…
I'd certainly not be recommending anyone buy a new 3GS…

+2 voteslol you do realize newer phones with faster CPUs are both faster and more functional???? This is 2 generations old and soon to be made 3 generations old, that's an eternity in the smart phone world!
As others have said if you think the 3GS is a good phone then thats probably because you haven't used a newer faster phone and are simply ignorant.
+1 voteWould you care to tell us who you know at Apple who has made that "Official"
- They havent officially announced the next iphone or OS that runs on it
- And they haven't officially announced that when either of these are updated that the update to IOS wont work on the 3GS
And if I am wrong about this official announcement then I guess you should be making headlines around the world with your knowledge…
And then again will any of the "alternatives" that you suggest are better, have official upgrades to their OS????
I smell troll
+1 voteApple have ALWAYS dropped support 2 models down the track on any product - Not allowing upgrading the iOS specifically. iPhone 2G dropped support when iOS 4 came out (iOS 3.12 was the last version), iPhone 3G dropped support from iOS 5 (last is 4.12). The next major iteration of iOS (included in as part of the iPhone 5) will drop support for iPhone 3GS. Every iOS iteration requires more memory, more Computing power. Considering the 3GS vs the 4S is double the memory and double the CPU or more and that the iPhone 5 will once again be much more powerful.
I smell a misinformed recent 3GS buyer..
+1 voteALWAYS does NOT equal OFFICIAL
Using words like that is very misleading
And given your track record on assumptions - like
I smell a misinformed recent 3GS buyer..
I wouldn't put too much credence on your ability to smell
Let alone read, where you didn't answer the question…. Who officially told you. Really

Just gave my wife an iPhone 3G and I took her new 4s iPhone. Still works great for basic stuff like mail and browser and weather and stocks etc. she doesn't play games or watch movies so it's fine. No multitasking is painful though. She upgraded from an Nokia e63 or whatever it was. I keep taking her new phones as I'm on corporate phone that is either blackberry or htc legend / salsa.

The 3GS DOES support Apple's "Multitasking" (which is actually a task switcher) just the same as teh iPhone 4 and 4S. NO current or past version of iPhone supports full multitasking, which is a deliberate design decision to save power.

$29/mth, 12 month plan not 11. Just because you get "one month free" doesn't mean it is a 11 month contract. If you try disconnect/port out after 11 months you will get charged $29 for the 12th month.
The one month free doesn't even make any sense.
1 month free access fees offer available until 17 April 2012 (unless extended) to new and approved customers who sign up via vodafone.com.au or by calling 1300 300 404 to the $29 Vodafone Plan over 24 months with the Samsung Galaxy S 8GB, Sony Ericsson Xperia ray, HTC Desire Z Nokia C7, HTC Salsa Black, HTC Salsa Ocean Blue, HTC Desire HD, Nexus S Black, Nexus S White, Sony Ericsson Xperia arc. 1 month free access will be applied as a $29 credit to your 1st bill.
So you get 1 month free if you sign up on a 24 month plan… but this is a 12 month plan… and this isn't even one of the phones listed in the T&C's. Not to mention isn' a slow phone on a slow network (well I guess that kinda makes sense then, you get a small brick for $29/month)
+2 voteslol This is exactly what it's like working in a phone store. If it's not an iPhone no one will listen.
And then there's all the people that think the iPhone 4S is 4G. or the people who think they can download an app to make their iPhone 4G.
There is one good thing about the iPhone though… 64GB phone. What android phone gives you 64GB Space, highest I've seen is 16GB internal + 32GB microSD Card (doesn't support any higher) :(

+1 voteI've always thought they hold their value remarkably well, like most Apple products.
The trick with Apple is not to buy at the bleeding edge, but about one generation behind. I'm very happy with my iPhone 4 and when I eventually sell it, I will lose very little.

excuse me but isn't a 3gs just a tad too old? 2 gens behind…
