caprimulgus on 04/04/2012 - 09:54 ¶wow, awesome price, but i'm with bboink - even at that price, i don't think i can do the adidas version…
if you don't mind the hokey colours and branding, then definitely recommend these headphones for portable/dj use with great isolation!
+2 votescaprimulgus on 04/04/2012 - 18:20 ¶can't speak for bboink, but mainly i just don't like the blue colour…i just want simple black headphones. and no, i don't have a particular interest in rocking the adidas brand either.
part of the reason i love the HD25 is because it is inconspicuous (except to people who know headphones). i don't want big attention seeking shiny colourful headphones plastered with logos to show off how cool i am/make me a target for getting robbed. for me, simple and boring is what i want.
have a look at what Aiaiai have done: they took this aspect of the HD25 to the extreme - completely minimalist, with no external branding. that's what i loved about the HD25, so these adidas originals are completely a step in the wrong direction for me - they were made to be distinctive and grab attention!

ALREADY a victim of credit card fraud…NOT taking a risk again like this!
WEB DEVELOPER: PLEASE FIX THIS MAJOR ISSUE! OK THANXS :D

donkeykong on 04/04/2012 - 10:02 ¶There is a conspiracy with these price drops after I have bought one from JB for $250.
+1 voteshinydragon on 04/04/2012 - 10:09 ¶Oh man…should I?! Any recommendations for better headphones (I'm not a DJ) around this price before I part with my $$$?
shinydragon on 04/04/2012 - 10:10 ¶Reviews saw they aren't that comfy and the sound isn't spectacular…?
+2 votescaprimulgus on 04/04/2012 - 10:25 ¶it depends entirely on what you're looking for.
sure, for the price they were selling, the HD25 didn't have the "best" sound. but it made up for that with the durability, portability, isolation, etc. even at their price premium, they were excellent headphones for the money.
now at this price, the same thing holds, but it's cheaper! someone who might have said they don't sound great at $300-$400 might now say they sound excellent for $150!
they are a pretty accurate headphone, with a decent amount of bass. not very good soundstage, and may be a little uncomfortable for extended use, but that's the tradeoff for the awesome isolation.
would recommend not just for djs, but for people who want a durable portable headphone with great isolation.
+1 voteSound is THE MOST ACCURATE AND AMAZING I've heard short of $1000 cans…they're amazing!
And they're a little uncomfortable after HOURS of listening on a plane, but still some of the best headphones money can buy.
Dre has nothing on these - mickey mouse headphones in comparison.
BUY!

-2 votesillusionarybreeze on 04/04/2012 - 10:26 ¶So I assume you have heard all headphones in the $0 to $1000 price range?
+3 votesLets say I'm a bit of a headphone nut!
I'm saying for the money - and if you like your electronic and rock type music - these are awesome.
You won't be disappointed with these - certainly not for the money, they are a steal when you consider what $100-150 buys you in cans nowadays…
+3 votescaprimulgus on 04/04/2012 - 10:41 ¶to be fair, he did say headphones up to a $1000 that he has heard, not all headphones up to $1000.
+1 voteillusionarybreeze on 04/04/2012 - 11:51 ¶My question was badly phrased, but rezok's comment begs the question, how many headphones has he heard in that range?
In audio, I've generally found that you get what you pay for, even though the rate at which sound quality improves decreases dramatically as you go up in price. When opinions sound exaggerated and are not backed up with detail, they don't sound as credible. That's all.
That is not to say that the headphones in question are not good for the price - they are, but I would hesitate to inflate people's expectations, especially when everyone hears differently.
+1 voteshinydragon on 04/04/2012 - 10:25 ¶Here's one review I found that was unfavouring: http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/headphones/sennheiser-hd-25-1-ii-a...
Are they the type that completely cover your ears?

+1 voteThird_Gear on 04/04/2012 - 10:32 ¶You'll always find negative reviews for even some of the best products in the market if you look hard enough. Take them with a grain of salt unless they put up actual numbers.
When it comes to audio the best review is your ears because everyone is different. These are cheap enough that you can buy them and see if you like them and if not just sell them on again and get your money back.

Note the 11 user reviews giving it 5 out of 5. Also note that the cnet reviewer recommended Dr Dre Beats instead… Make of that what you will ;)
They are supra aural and sit on your ears. The ones that cover your entire ear are circumaural. My ears prefer supra aural as they get too hot with ones that cover them entirely
blablabla23 on 04/04/2012 - 10:46 ¶well the reviewer did not recommend Beats, just a suggestion to 'check it out'. That does not chalk up to a recommendation to me. And imo the reviewer did give a fair review on Beats. What with the 'muddy sound' and the 'sound leaks' as well as the 'exorbitant price tag'. Okay fine the last one was mine but you get the point.
+1 votedfitzpatrick on 04/04/2012 - 10:34 ¶Anyone played with both these and AD-700's? Worth upgrading?

+2 votesI got my ATH headphones from them a few years ago. The packaging was not very good, I could tell the box has been opened before, no user manual or warranty card in the box, and my headphones had scratches.
Called them to ask for warranty info was told only have warranty with the shop.
The headphones work fine just not very happy with the service.

definitely no, will certainly improve things - but diminishing marginals. Maybe a 10% improvement.
I frequently used them with a laptop or phone and theyre plenty fine.
I remember the first time I heard these, I was in awe! Got rid of them years ago, but as of today, I'm back!

I would check out the Technics RP-DJ1200 headphones [The Black with purple text model, NOT the Black/Silver 1200A model] if you're after bass as well as sound quality. I mix rnb/house music and I love them! I've had these for 4 years and I haven't got sick of them after using them for at least 5 hours every week. When they eventually [if ever] die I will really be looking forward to purchasing a new pair of the same set :) got them for $200 4 years ago [and I know it was a little over 4 years since I've had them as I got them as a birthday gift :) ]

+1 votedonkeykong on 04/04/2012 - 11:13 ¶Caved in. Ordered another one over the phone and will pick it up when I have the time. The guy said it is an Australian stock, brand new, and they have sold 80% of the stock today.

+2 votesshinydragon on 04/04/2012 - 11:41 ¶Its not on phone now 200+ pairs left, first refused to put order through on the phone but then did it. Called the Sydney number. Mentioned insecure shopping cart online and the dude said that it definitely IS secure as he paid the last bill for it and it was an IE issue as they are a Mac based business.
ORDERED :D
cruise control on 04/04/2012 - 11:36 ¶This one is titled "Sennheiser X Adidas", whereas Jaben's deal was for "Sennheiser Adidas". Are they referring to the same set of headphones?
aerona on 04/04/2012 - 12:00 Comment score below threshold (-4).
illusionarybreeze on 04/04/2012 - 12:13 ¶Where is their Sydney store? The site is super slow at the moment.
EDIT: dw, found it:

aniki_xiao on 04/04/2012 - 12:30 ¶Better off calling up,
Called up the Melbourne Store (03) 9421 2941 10 mins ago and placed an order with them.
The guy told me they have sold out the stock currently in store :(
BUT they are getting 20 delivered this afternoon and 20 more tomorrow. He said my order is part of the 20 coming in today :DWithout knowing if they are getting for stock, I guess there is no more then 40 left in Melbourne for order at that price.
Nearly pulled my trigger over the 199 deal from Jaben, but found a bit hard to justify since still had a 12 year old Sony MDR v700. Finally give in at $150…
Btw for people who ordered the 199 deal of Jaben, they are giving out free "lollipop" headphones in response to this deal. Good on them for the customer service. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/67190

Website loads too slow. Just called their sydney store and ordered one to ship to WA. The staff was taking the order pretty quick and everything done in less than 5 minutes. Was told the item will be shipped out today by 4:30pm. Total is $159 ($9 postage).
Didn't ask for their stock level. Just in case someone worry about missing out this deal, their sydney store phone number is 02 9564 1791.
Thanks OP.

Just phoned up the Sydney store - their customer service is unreal, huge wraps from me. Answered straight away and had to wait less than a few minutes to get through to a sales rep.
The guy said he still had a shitload of pairs left (hence the amazing price) so no need to stress if you can't get through on the website.
