good price but i prefer my Dell E248WFP 24” :P which i got for about the same price 2 weeks back ^_^

1 Moderator scotty on 03/10/2008 - 11:16 ¶

Well this is EVEN cheaper than E248WFP. The brightness is only 300 cd/m2 and it does not do 1920x1200. Funny that the title of the product page reads “Dell S2409W Full HD Monitor”. I think they might need to fix that :) Most HD movie are in 16x9 anyway…

1920x1080 / 16:9 is full HD. am i missing something?

No. I think I have been misled to think that 1920x1200 is full HD. Sorry my bad.

Agree the 248WFP is a bit better, but I missed that deal. Not missing this one.

Almost bought a 2nd hand Acer for $240 yesterday so pretty happy with this deal.

Sure there are better monitors, but bang for buck this is hard to beat.

Johnforeplay I agree that at least in television terms 1920x1080 is full HD (Samsung, Sony, Philips, etc LCD TV’s do that resolution and are FULL HD)

This monitor is actually shaped like a TV, hence the 1920x1080 I believe

1 Metaphor on 03/10/2008 - 13:45 ¶

1920 x 1080 is full HD, and this monitor would actually be better for HD movies which are encoded 16:9 than a monitor that is 16:10.

I missed the earlier Dell deal and I am going to be taking advantage of this one.

Depend on what you main usage, this could be a better monitor as it has HDMI.
Also the design looks pretty sleek compare to the 248WFP .

Does the 1920 x 1080 mean smaller panel compared with the 1920 x 1080 for E248WFP?

Gravatar

1 cyssero on 03/10/2008 - 21:39 ¶

Yes, it is a fraction smaller. I used this calculator to help figure out how much bigger it is than my current 16:10 22” and how much smaller it is than a 24” 16:10.

http://tvcalculator.com/index.html?a2429231032ef711e143c4b97...

I think I’m going to get this one and sell my 22” :)

The coupon works on any monitor but you have to order it from the small business site. It wont work on the home sales section.

Is individual eligible to order from the small business site? Or there is certain requirement? I remembered that I purchased a DELL laptop from the small business site several years ago when I was in Japan.

Looks like my CC transaction has gone through today. I guess everyone who ordered on the weekend got theirs sorted out rather quickly but come Monday when the rest of us jumped on, the order processing slowed down a bit. No biggie, I’m in no rush, just good to see a positive sign.

No update on the order status page though, still says: “Current Status: Your order have been received by Dell and will be processed once payment information are verified.”

Will keep my fingers crossed.

Because the code used to work on this specific model and Dell does not verify whether you are a QuickBook user. Lucky for those who have used the code and grabbed a bargain. However the EPP and autoclub codes still work so the price is probably the cheapest 24” LCD at the moment.

Don’t think it’s going to last very long as AUD now sits on $0.66-$0.67 USD…

Hi,
I’ve got to agree - too late again!!
Anyone know of any other 24” or bigger monitors with free delivery at around A$300 each?
I worked out the above 24” monitor is $499 with cash off $150 plus postage from $49 up puts the price outside what I want to pay. I do however like the 3 year warranty Dell gives on each of their monitors.
