Free 2GB USB drive from Microsoft!
Just fill out the quick survey to receive a free 2GB USB drive from microsoft!
They did a similar freebie with the vista t-shirt I received a while ago, so I think this one will be genuine as well.
“To thank you for the time you’ve invested with us today, we’ll mail your complimentary 2GB USB Flash Drive within the next 28 days. “
Got my t-shirt sent to work. Looks decent but I’m yet to wear it :)
This was quite painless, I just updated my profile because they already had a lot of info anyway (must have already put it in with the previous promotion or they got it through ExpertZone).
Flash drives are always welcomed :)
Well they will know where you live when you put your address anyway won’t they?
Umm why does that matter?
If you’re really that concerned for whatever reason, then just update your live profile details (remove your address) once you have received the USB drive.
Bohn’s response would ORDINARILY be a bit harsh… but then, this is Microsoft we’re talking about here!
what’s their dark motive you ask?!? to seduce you with their offer of gratis gadgetry in their plan for mindless brand loyalty and universal domination.
surely you learned never to accept lollies from strangers… or food from strange clowns… etcetera ?
Ha! I’m not signing up on all these freebies anymore, as I received none of it. One of the below was also Microsoft’s.
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/3170
None of those were from microsoft?
I did the vista freebie t-shirt and I received that (as did many others), so there is a good chance you’ll receive this one as well.
DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE ‘Free Civic movie vouchers’ that we had awhile ago? And it said wait 28 days.. well isn’t it over that?
Did anyone get them or hear anything about them?
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/6095
It’s about 2 mths ago??
Yes I received the civic vouchers it but I have 2 left over if you want it but you’ll have to send me a self addressed envelope, I don’t have one near me. Just email me at qizhizhou2006@hotmail.com
Yeah I agree these things are a bit of hit-and-miss most of the time.
I’ll share my experience with regards to freebies.
Obviously only apply for the freebie that interests you. You’re after all exchange your details for the freebie, so why “sell” your details for say, 1.5ml of a perfume sample?
Depending on the freebie, different degree of personal details will be needed. Postal or email addresses are almost musts. If you’re not prepared to give out your email or postal address, how do you expect to receive the freebie? I know privacy is a big thing realistically, they normally wouldn’t be sending stuff to your postal address let alone come knocking on your door. Spam emails maybe but you can just filter them out.
If it’s too good too be true, it normally is. When the freebie is too generous and there’s no strings attach apart from the usual details, I normally wouldn’t be bothered with it.
I normally look out for reputable companies, dodgy companies aren’t gonna send you freebies.
I also only apply for Aussie-based freebies. US-based freebies are just (mostly) waste of time.
In conclusion, it’s just common sense. Like the freebie —> Worth the effort and willing to give out details —> Apply
That’s a pretty comprehensive list. :) I have to say I agree with all of them, except two. When it’s too good to be true…read the fine print and it probably isn’t too good to be true. But sometimes it is! I’ve actually developed a manic habit of reading fine print when it comes to bargains, nowadays. XD
And on perfume samples…most of them are walk-in, I find, but I’m sure people who use perfume might say 1.5ml actually lasts quite a while, haha. That does reinforce your point, though. For one person who’s into it, there’s definitely at least one out there who isn’t.
how many people here actually own a business? lol!
i think the poster should change to business only? It clearly says ur business address?
i have a feeling that’s the catch. So many people will give their details in but they don’t have to send ya one cos ur not a business? I dunno? what you guys think?
It shouldn’t matter. The free vista t-shirt was also only for businesses but I still received it, as did many others.
They have no way of proving whether or not you have a genuine business, because they don’t ask for an ABN.
I’ve “SOLD my SOUL” before with valuable stuff, like my post before for 2GB bracelet 9 mths ago, that actually worth something, now 2GB standard looking USB only set you back $10 at max. oh well, there’s no way to regulate the promoters. Though not much to lose but the false hope that “one day” the freebie would arrive, just dissatisfying. bit like those hoaxy chainletters.
Nothing personal about this deal ih8parties. good for people who look hard to find these, just too many dodgy promoters out there!
Under the terms and conditions it says its valued at $16 RRP. Not bad for a freebie which includes free postage. I wonder how many they have to give away though?
As for the 2GB bracelet deal a while ago, it wasn’t actually from microsoft itself.
Microsoft is a reputable company, they honoured the free t-shirt offer so chances are they will honour this too. What do you have to lose? This is nothing like a “hoax chain letter”. There have been people on here (myself included) that can confirm about receiving the free vista t-shirt a while ago.
good one. last MS promotion i received vista t-shirt and a free petrol card (i think for 25$)
It looks like you have to add yourself to a Microsoft mailing list to be eligible for the free USB stick!
Is a 2GB memory stick worth 2TB of daily spam??
NOTE- You will also need a Windows LIVE ID login account to access the survey.

Someone on whirlpool said they got theirs today, so it should be soon.

They probably had thousands to dispatch (after being on ozbargain, whirlpool, OCAU etc). So it may take longer than they originally anticipated? Hopefully we’ll get ours soon.
That’s what I received from Microsoft on my request :
“may I please know if you received a letter in the mail from Microsoft regarding this promotion? This offer was by invitation, and was a direct offer to a specific business customer list.
Thank you for your co-operation. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards.”
As I have not received any letter from them, just went on their Web site and did my registration, I am not eligible for a free usb flash memory stick.
Actuallly looking at freebies I can see that in 99% of the cases it is just easier to purchase things then struggling to get them for free (e.g. 2GB usb flash for ~$8 delivered is pretty much a freebie).
