Nikon D7000 Body Only $973 from DWI Free Shipping
This was posted 11 months 18 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
Edit 12/6/2012: apparently it's now only $973, down from $998!!!
decent deal if you've been chasing a crop DSLR. It's now under 1K for the first time I think. That means no GST/custom fee when shipped from DWI.
Not sure how long this will last since DWI changes its prices everyday
If you pay paypal it's 1.5% fee if I remember correctly or you can do bank transfer

a few distinctive point about D7000 that I like
- high quality images even in low light
- built in motor so most lenses would work
- dual SD slots
- new crop sensor from Nikon (actually 1.5 years old now but still latest)
- 100% viewfinder (something rare for crop bodies)
- much improved video
have to say to myself: RESIST (I already have a D90)

(and only 25 bux shipping)
shame it brings it over the 1000 dollars for tax!if it comes down a little more id rather get it from them… though amazon sometimes price match if you dont want to get it from DWI… I've had good experiences with amazon…

Nikon is heavily rumored to be releasing a FULL FRAME 24mp DSLR called the D600 which will otherwise have similar features to the D7000. The RRP is supposedly going to be only $1500 which is half the price of any other full frame camera. This is still a very fine camera. I have a D5100 (same sensor as the D7000) and for all intents and purposes the picture quality is superior to low speed 35mm film.
Shlomo Scheinbaum on 05/06/2012 - 14:50 ¶There are a few stories about it on Google News and nikonrumors.com has some more detailed information about it, from what I've heard the site has been rather accurate in the past.

+1 votePlease be sure to check online reviews before dealing with these people, and there are plenty here who have had bad experiences with them

They have a bad record when comes to after sale service & warranty, regardless of product
I'm talking from personal experience - took over 3 months to get my camera "fixed" & only after I threatened to cancel the CC payment.
Would not buy from them again - few bucks you save is not worth all the hassles if things go wrong.
Trance N Dance on 05/06/2012 - 19:55 ¶Go for a generic, they can be had on eBay for ~$40, does the same job.

I have a D90 also - love my Nikon, but have lost touch with the new models. I used to have the D700 on my wishlist as an upgrade.
Where does the D7000 fit into the range - is it the new "D90"?
Could definitely use a second body but if there is a full frame at a competitive price around the corner perhaps I should sit tight.
Temptation!!
+1 voteTrance N Dance on 05/06/2012 - 19:57 ¶Yeah the D7000 is just the new D90.
D700 should still be an upgrade over the D7000.
Waiting for the cheap full frame but having to change all my lenses is gonna be a PITA…

Found this online to answer my own questions above - sounds great! "The D7000 offers numerous professional-style features over the D90, such as magnesium alloy body construction, weather and moisture sealing, a 2,016-segment color exposure meter, built-in timed interval exposure features, 39 rather than 11 focus points, dual SD memory card slots, virtual horizon (in live view and viewfinder) and compatibility with older non-CPU autofocus and manual-focus AI and AI-S Nikon F-mount lenses (including an electronic rangefinder with three-segment viewfinder manual focus indication) as well as tilt-shift PC-E lenses."
Trance N Dance on 06/06/2012 - 00:37 ¶Crap, sorry.
Was using my phone and accidentally pressed the -'ve while trying to scroll. Have revoked the neg (handy feature to finally have Scotty!)
waterproof on 06/06/2012 - 00:02 ¶great deal and price however never use your credit card with DWI, use paypal. (see http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/dwi_cameras)
Trance N Dance on 06/06/2012 - 07:36 ¶If you find yourself having to change the lens frequently it might possibly be worth having both cameras. But if you're just a small amateur, I'd say sell the D90 to fund the D7000 (if and only if the D90 is carking it, the D90 is still a solid camera)

Yes, it appears as $960 now. If I get this with an extra battery and a Mack extended warranty ($87 - is this recommended?), the total price will push to >$1,000. Does this mean I will get charged the GST upon delivery? If yes, then is it better to get the extra battery and warranty separately? Thanks guys.

^Upgraded from a rather tired D90, big improvement. The U1 / U2 memory seetings are gold, and 2 memory slots in this class is awesome. Big upgrade
This is a steal at $998, good deal
