expired Virgin Mobile - Samsung Galaxy Nexus $29 P/M 24 Months Big Plan 29, $450 Credit, 2.25GB Data
This was posted 11 months 15 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
Zero handset repayment.
Virgin Mobile is giving 2GB bonus data for the life of the contract. Totally 2.25 GB. Vodafone also $29 cap over 24 months, but only 200 MB data per month.
Another feature is rollover of monthly unused credit.
But funny thing with virgin mobile is that it costs 25 cents per call to call their customer service, which is NOT included in the monthly cap credit.
Below from VM website under Big Plan 29. Double check inclusion and exclusion of the monthly cap credit. It is slightly different from the others.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
$0 upfront on Big Plan $29 1
Min total cost over 24 months is $696 2
Get a brand new phone over 24 months1, or bring your own for no commitment2. You'll get heaps of monthly credit3 for calls & text, and any unused credit rolls over to the next month4. Plus - join between 28th May and 1st July and get 2GB bonus data5 every month for the life of your plan.
The Fine Print: Offer available on selected phones only. 1) 24 month contract required. Each month the Equipment Charge / 24 is paid off your phone (which includes your monthly contribution and phone repayment credit, if any). Leave any time, just pay all outstanding charges (billed & unbilled) + balance of the Equipment Charge + $250 if you leave in the 1st 6 months. 2) Leave anytime, just pay all outstanding charges (billed and unbilled). 3) Included credit applies to standard national & international calls, text & MMS & 1300 numbers (excluding VMA customer service) only. Standard charges apply if credit exceeded & for non-included call & messaging types. 4) Any unused credit rolls over to following month only and is used once the following month's credit is exhausted. Data does not rollover. 5) Order before midnight 1st July 2012 to receive an additional 2GB to your included data allowance. Data has 1 month expiry. Excess data usage charged at 20.5c per MB (charged in KB). Note: Virgin Mobile does not connect to the Pivotel Network. Approved customers only. 1st bill is pro-rated (min monthly spend and included credit and data) from date you connect to start of your next month's bill. All rates apply in Oz.

+3 votesPretty close I reckon. Both should have ICS / good custom ROM support. Both have a light and strong but crappy feeling plastic body, good CPU performance etc. Nexus has a better screen (imo), Galaxy has MicroSD card support which is pretty major
I'd choose the Nexus, but that's just me (GS2 owner)
superforever on 06/06/2012 - 13:24 ¶SGS2 you have to pay $5/month for the phone which Nexus 0 for the phone.

+1 voteSpik3balloon on 06/06/2012 - 15:07 ¶You can use their international support number:
(02) 8860 9848and it will count as a local call in your cap, but will be timed.
I don't see the issue though - I don't recall ever having to call Virgin for anything.

superforever on 06/06/2012 - 15:04 ¶I was told that provider cannot local Google phones and also bloadwares are not allowed.
amir aljaberi on 06/06/2012 - 16:53 ¶Sorry what do you mean contract phones locked ? and Handset isn't ?
superforever on 06/06/2012 - 18:27 ¶I think he means because you have already signed a contract so Virgin no need to lock the phone like prepaid.
+1 voteThanks for posting this. I have been looking to upgrade my phone when my plan ends later this month.
NOTE: I called Virgin and asked for a deal and they alerted me to this:
http://www.virginmobile.com.au/mobile-phone-offers/?i_cid=10...It doesn't show the Nexus there, but I was offered the first SIX months of my new contract at half price because I'm finishing up my current plan a little early. And that's with the NEXUS.
This is an amazing deal!

The phone can be brough for $400 these days, your monthly cost of the actual contract is $12.33. I would not say that is a good deal as cost of Liveconnected is about same proce but you are not lock to a contract. Not to mention the performance on Virgin is realy shit when compare to optus even they are supposingly on the same network. My mate got 1G of data on their network and can never use it to full quota because it is so slow.
Only good way to look at this deal is virgin is giving you interest free credit for the phone.

i never border with Aus stock cos all carrier warranty is really shit. especially virgin, my mate brough a SG2 and got a defective back cover. They refuse to admitt a DOA and insist it will go back as RA. My friend end up buying another bacl cover in ebay.
As for signal, I can hardly load more than three simply web page on a 20 minute trip from Ashfield to central but I was able to watch stream video on the same trip with an Optus sim. Try to explain that.
amir aljaberi on 08/06/2012 - 08:54 ¶Well you have to use Optus APN as the Virgin one is always congested and slow.
As for your mate, he could use 10 day returns policy by virgin :).
I am not trying to promote Virgin but Kogan/grey import isn't better option :P.
10 days return is only valid for unopened boxed phones and unactivated unopened SIM packs. I tried to retun mine after 9 days with 3 days battling to get Virgin to get my phone working then found out the bad news on the 10 day return. It's a sneaky and useless offering.

I've just had a horrible experience with incompetent Virgin "customer service" and technical support when I couldn't get a data connection on my smartphone. They fumble around, ask you to change valid settings, reset the phone etc. until they give up. In the process, they completely disabled my mobile service then told me it would be another 10 days for technical support to respond to an issue, not necessarily fix it. This is their normal period you may expect to wait for your basic services to be restored. They send you emails saying the problem is resolved when it is not. They don't test before deciding an issue is fixed. I only signed up on the $29 plan 2 weeks ago with $5/month for a Galaxy S2 and I'll be using the ombudsman to get away ASAP. They charge you 25c to call customer service because you might be doing it a lot!
