Not a word from Crucial on whether or not they're going to make a Crucial M5.

$4.30 for Insurance
$8.50 Ship.To feeTotal Shipping $24.70
Total Cost landed is $204.69 USD = $205 AUDThat's pretty good!
There are other shipping options but they are 3x more expensive.
caprimulgus on 07/06/2012 - 18:13 ¶He was referring to the original amazon deal (removed by moderator), which was cheaper.

+1 voteHad a quick look on B&H Photo Video and looks like they ship to Australia.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/768803-REG/Crucial_Tec...SubTotal: $189.00
Sales Tax: $0.00
Shipping: $32.26
Order Total: $221.26Might be worth a look.
onebutters on 07/06/2012 - 18:03 ¶The markdown probably initiated from the manufacturer themselves as Amazon have even cheaper prices (but don't ship here). Probably is worth waiting a little to see what other vendors ship international.

Well if you buy it here http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/768803-REG/Crucial_Tec...
Its $189 and they ship to australia :)

+1 voteIndecentExposure on 07/06/2012 - 19:05 ¶Just another option to consider, I bought it for $179.99USD on Amazon, sent to Shipito in California.
Amazon charged me AUD$189 for it and shipito had charged an AUD$8.81 deposit/handling fee. Should be around AUD$215 when I finish paying for shipping + insurance. I'd say it's a better deal than this which would cost almost AUD$240, if you're willing to pay that price then you might as well hop on down to your local MSY for a 240GB sandisk extreme at $239.

I bought it the other day from Amazon for $199.99 so was rather annoyed to see it drop to $179.99. I thought that Amazon has a price drop guarantee but seems they got rid of that years ago.
I sent them an email letting them know I was disappointed to see it drop by $20 a few days after I bought it. They kindly offered a refund of that $20 so I am a happy ozbargainer :)
ShipShapeRC on 08/06/2012 - 11:45 ¶Mine was amazon too - I shipped mine to a friend in usa, its so small it will go airmail for just a few $$.

I have order two drives from Amazon yesterday and will use Shipito with express service ship back to Melbourne.
Not selling for profit but just sharing the postage, should be around $220 after all.
Send me a message if you are interested ! drives are expecting to arrive by end of next week.

If you have looked into the details may give you a different thought
The story was I didn't get that $179 deal, I bought those two at $189 and Amazon only allowed one drive per order so eventually they will arrive in two packages at mailing forwarder . I used Shipito and the handling fees for two packages with consolidation for reship is around $20. The express shipping rates from them are not as cheap as those big companies and it's not fixed, like USPS Express or FedEx are about $50 overall. The total sum up would be $450 and this is in USD, converting to AUD by today's currency rates will be around $460.
$460 / 2 = $230 I believe a simple math can tell I would be even in short if I sell it for $220
Very excessive ? By How ?
Please don't judge on something you are not completely sure, especially using a strongly offensive word.
based on the info that these where 179 and the size/weight of these drives (for standard shipping ie 20 for both) = 360+20=380/2 =190
you over paid…so you may be out but you still over paid 30-40 dollars per drive
now your trying to claw some of that overpayment back by sharing the costs of your overpayment.
IndecentExposure on 13/06/2012 - 12:04 ¶OK just my package arrived from Amazon in the Shipito warehouse.
The dimensions they sent it in are pretty big for the package, but thankfully very thin and thus cheap. (12" x 9" x 2")
Shipito has charged me in USD, $8.5 + $5 + $4.49insurance. That is a total of about $18.60AUD for shipping with insurance. Or about $14AUD for shipping without insurance.
Note: If you're buying from Amazon don't pay in AUD like I did!!!! Make sure you pay with USD and get your bank to do the conversion for you. It'll save you about $2 for every $100 you spend.
Final Cost: $208AUD, which is a shame haha, I missed the direct shipping from Amazon for $206AUD deal by one day.

A lot of the SSD benefits with no so much of the cost..
thefunkygibbon on 09/06/2012 - 01:13 ¶Hey scrimshaw,
You didn't read the article did you.. it's a SSD cache not an SSD drive. It's there to cache the most actively used parts of your traditional HDD to speed up response, so you could say have a 2TB disk with this along side and your traditional hard disk would respond more like a SSD (though there are limits to this).
In a corporate environment this is common place on large storage arrays so you can have relatively slow disks with a small number of fast SSD devices sitting in front of the disk which (with some hardware/software magic) speeds up overall response time and throughput.
This is just the first time I'd seen this done on a consumer level (without it being locked in to a all in one HDD/SSD package).

But why not just go full SSD and be done with it? The cache drive costs $90 (possibly over $100 after shipping) which is only a few dollars shy of a quality, locally bought 128GB SSD drive.
In other words, you could fork out $100 and get SSD caching, and partial benefits of an SSD drive.
or pay an extra $30 bucks and get the full SSD experience (and no requirement for a Z68 chipset).Which sounds better?
I would say MOST consumers (not corporate customers) would prefer the full SSD experience as opposed to just caching — large capacity SSD's are getting plenty cheap nowadays.
Architectonic on 10/06/2012 - 17:46 ¶What is the deal with warranty when purchasing overseas?
I've had too many SSDs fail in the last few years, so I need to know this before purchasing.

wow thats cheap!
would make sense if group buy and save on postage
