      To be honest, warranty isn't worth much if the drive craps out and you lose your data. Granted, everyone should keep regular backups, but realistically, most people don't.

        for most these external hard drives are used as backups so if it craps out, then good luck. Unless of course, you make different backups of your backups. We won't go there

      manufacturer's warranty is 3 years. you get that warranty regardless of where you buy it.
