+2 votesDS games look even worse on a 3DS — you have the choice of either stretching it out to fill the higher resolution screen (which makes any pixel art look terrible); or keeping it at its native resolution within the higher resolution 3DS screen — meaning, you're effectively playing the game on a pair of 2.4 inch screens (rather than the DSi's 3.25 inch screens, or the DSi XL's 4.2 inch screens).
Slitherhen on 17/06/2012 - 10:02 ¶Look the same, really??
This is how the 3ds looks playing ds games in their native resolution : http://vaultnishi.com/wp-content/flagallery/game-unboxing/ki...You can play ds games stretched but it looks just as good as hooking up a VHS player to your HD tv. Dsi XL is superior than the 3ds when playing ds games, this is why people would purchase a Dsi XL over a 3ds.

Yes, it does have black bars, but that is how big the original DS screens are. So essentially they look the same. I don't see your point. If anything the stretched DSi XL screens will look even worse.
Here is some light reading. Is it worth it to purchase 2 systems for such negligible results? That is up to you.

Don't get me wrong I own 1 DS Phat, 2 DS Lites a DSi and also 2 3DS's. I love the things, but if I'm going to play a DS game I'd rather bring my 3DS with me as I also have the option to play a 3DS game too. Best of both worlds.

Wrong.
The original DS had a 3 inch screen, the DS Lite had a 3.12 inch screen, the DSi has a 3.25 inch screen, and the DSi XL has a 4.2 inch screen. When running at native resolution on the 3DS, a DS game uses 2.4 inches of a 3.02 screen (bottom), and 2.4 inches of a 3.53 inch screen (top). That's 36% smaller than the original DS, which already had the smallest screen of any DS model.
Here is some light reading. Is it worth it to purchase 2 systems for such negligible results?
Who said anything about purchasing two systems? There are plenty of people who will be perfectly satisfied playing just DS games — especially now that DS games are being discounted left, right and centre.

please check the link. very good deal for PSP as well.
