expired Crucial M4 256GB - $173.95 USD, $206.21 USD Delivered, until 18th June
This was posted 11 months 7 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
B&H has dropped their price again, apparently, down to $179.95 this time, until the 18th. I know the other bargain thread is alive, just thought I'd post a new one so the post doesn't get lost. This price, though, is cheaper than Amazon at the moment, surprisingly, although the shipping does kill it a bit. Either way, good price, especially with the recovering dollar (above par again).
The site is currently not allowing online ordering for a few hours though until 9:45 PM EDT (maybe maintenance or something?), which is around midday tomorrow (Sunday) for us. So, for now, I guess this is more of a heads up.
Edit: looks like online ordering is back up. Just a note, although the end date is 18th for this deal, it's the 18th on EDT time zone, which is actually about 2 PM on 19th for us.
Edit 2: wow, price dropped again. $173.95 USD, $206.21 USD delivered. Title editted.

+3 votesActually the A$1000 threshold does not include shipping cost , it is simply the declared value of the imported items alone.
But in the event your goods are valued over A$1000, then the GST is calculated on the value of the goods plus shipping and applicable tariff.
eg GST payable = (Goods value + Tariff (if any) + shipping ) / 11
I have imported stuff around $800-$900 value with shipping cost well over $200
EDIT: typos
+1 voteCorrect.
It seems like a desperate grab for money (by Customs) if you ask me since when you pay for the shipping costs initially - it's to the FedEx or UPS in America, obviously the service is delivered by their Australian division, but still I think it's a bit silly to slap on GST for shipping costs paid to overseas if you break the $1000 threshold (there's also some lame customs fee apparently.. I think it's $50 or so ontop of the 10% you have to pay on the item and the shipping costs).
Trance N Dance on 17/06/2012 - 11:57 ¶I don't think it's a desperate cash grab by the Government.
It's more of a deterrent for people to not shop overseas and buy local. (Protectionism at it's best)

chance is that we can do groupbuy based on the same city. anyone from sydney??
IndecentExposure on 16/06/2012 - 23:04 ¶$10 is not. However, if you are in the same city then a $26 difference is a darn good discount.
+1 votegoogolplex on 16/06/2012 - 22:41 ¶Maybe if they also sell the 128GB model cheap then postage can be split 5 ways.
edit: they do the 128GB for $119

If your laptop is made in the last 3 years it should have the connection required ie sata, if you remove your current hard drive and insert this one swapping over the rails or rubber parts it should work fine.
Keep in mind the hard disc will be blank and will need to be loaded with an operating system. Usually most laptops come with recovery cds, to reload the operating system,
edit: one more thing to consider is the size, rarely but some thinner laptops have a 1.8" hdd which is different to this 2.5" hdd

Personally I don't mind paying extra for warranty, especially because I don't want my OS or game hard drive to go missing for a few months if its broken.
IndecentExposure on 16/06/2012 - 22:51 ¶$219AUD is an OK deal if you need one now. I bought one from Amazon last time for $208AUD in total.
I recommend that people start posting their cities if you want to share the shipping cost which will make it cheaper. You guys could buy one for $193AUD each if say 5 people from Sydney were to want it which would be the best deal to date. $205 if you're in a different city and want a Prepaid Parcel Post Plus.

OK, just did some more exploring…
If you guys want protection, I think its covered too, for international customers. Someone just needs to explore the fine print. Any lawyers out there ?There is a Sagemax 2-year protection Plan available for this drive.

Translation service availableApparently, its $32.99 for 4 drives (which is the no. for one order)
So, ($179.95 x 4) + $32.99 = $752.79But the sub-total jumps from $752.79 to $851.76 even before shipping.
Can someone explain why ?

+1 votelin.integra on 17/06/2012 - 00:08 ¶Sydney CBD, want to join to any group whom will be purchasing these!

lin.integra on 17/06/2012 - 09:36 ¶So who want to coordinate this? I'll be around the castlereagh street mon to fri? Sat and sun around george street.. How do we get to collect the money first? 18 hours to go..

onebutters on 17/06/2012 - 16:52 ¶Sydney CBD. Buying 2 extra (3 total). PM me if you want to partake. (USD $191.50 each, allow slight variance for exchange)

IndecentExposure on 17/06/2012 - 01:42 ¶I'd say yes, but it probably wouldn't be too noticeable unless you have a SATA III interface. However, the space is definitely an upgrade.

Amazon is 179.99 but I can't get it to ship to AUS, not PO box…
