The usual, you know what to do. It might be summer solstice for them, but any discount is good right?

ProspectiveDarkness on 05/07/2012 - 22:59 ¶I love that this is pretty much always one of the first comments on any BD bargain.

+1 voteCaptain Obvious on 05/07/2012 - 17:33 ¶Sweet, cheers OP, just bought 50 Shades of Grey for the girlfriend :-)
Captain Obvious on 05/07/2012 - 18:10 ¶People on here can be odd sometimes… thanks for the balance :-)
+3 votesNot the one that did the neg but I've read a small part of that book, absolute filth.
I find it amazing that it can be sold to people of any age with the language and things that are portrayed.
In my opinion poorly written and is the equivalent to reading a porn magazine (obviously minus the pictures).
I'm not a prude and don't care what other people are in to but to think that a ~13 year old girl could walk in to a shop after hearing about this book on Facebook and buy it really offends me.
Sorry about the rant.
Captain Obvious on 05/07/2012 - 19:25 ¶No worries, everyone is entitled to their own opinion :-). I've never read it so I wouldn't know the specifics, but I've heard it's pretty raunchy. Different folks different strokes I guess.
+1 voteI agree, I don't think it's suitable reading for 12 year old girls. Bits I have read are just off. Nast. As a piece of writing, it's tragic.
Whatever floats your boat, but I won't be buying it. It's kind of got to the point that reading it in public makes you a bit of a joke too.
+1 voteCaptain Obvious on 05/07/2012 - 18:10 ¶Yup, but the girlfriend is interested so shrug it cost me about $7.50, and I don't care much about the quality as I won't be reading it.
SuperTight on 05/07/2012 - 18:33 ¶you should have gotten her the audiobook read by Gilbert Gottfried

+1 voteWorks for .com, just change the url to .com.
EDIT: that said, the exchange rates atm seem to be best for AUD, and the two sites are only 1c off for my test cart for CAD, NZD and SGD.
supabrudda on 05/07/2012 - 18:05 ¶yeah just ordered 2 books this arvo (doh!) but the AUD price was much better then UK/US->AUD exchange rate. ($84 vs $86)
weirdly enough one book I order was $au25 from Oz IP addr or £25 from UK IP addr

I just tried with .com as they had some books UK didn't.
Nowhere to enter code, and the navigation at the top tricked me into clicking "next" when I was already at the final purchase (it said the next step was "confirm" - nope you already paid!). They got their sale and I got no discount :(
Emailing them to see of they won't fix it…
+2 votesCaptain Obvious on 06/07/2012 - 11:54 ¶You have to use the link supplied by the OP or below by tchi6 - if you go to the website normally, there's nowhere to input the code.
flyingtrapeze on 05/07/2012 - 20:01 ¶Recently I put some out of stock titles down and asked book depository to inform me when they have it back In stock. A while later, I received emails to let me know the books are not going to be in stock but for my trouble they gave me 10% off once off discount codes. I did order 7 books using the codes.

I had the opposite problem. Pre-ordered one of Terry Pratchett's new books last year and they didn't bill me, but the Aussie Dollar was high and I was worried it was going to go down so I e-mailed them and asked if I could be billed ahead of time, and they processed it for me.
If it's a new book, why do you think the price will go down before launch?

This is the .com link in case someone's found a book cheaper there, which I have done. Looks like i will be buying from both .com and .co.uk. I've found differences of about $4 on one of the books I'm after

So annoyed, I just ordered two books from them yesterday.
