5% off Wish Gift Cards with Free Delivery, for Car Club Members

330

This is an update on an expired deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/66047

You can purchase Wish gift cards at 5% below their face value if you are a member of NRMA, RACT, AA Northern Territory, RACQ, or if you have purchased an Entertainment(tm) book.

EDIT 1PM 9 July: looks like they have been OzBargained, only RACQ members and Entertainment(tm) book holders can now use the website.

Unlike the expired deal mentioned above, you DO actually need to be a member of one of the above clubs. You have to sign up with your name and your membership number for the club, along with an email address and a password so you don't have to re-enter the details on future visits to the website. When you order, you will have to give a delivery address and contact phone number too.

Cards are available in $100, $200, $250, $300, $400 and $500 face values, and will have the name of your car club on the front, i.e. RACQ members will get a card with "Wish Gift Card" across the middle of the card, and "RACQ" in the bottom right-hand corner.

Delivery via registered mail is shown as the only delivery option, cost was shown as "$0". I did not make a purchase myself, it is possible other charges may apply.

As noted by user abc below, payment by credit card is not possible, they will send you a tax invoice for payment by EFT.

Simply click on the 'Order Form' button above, complete the form, and our Gift Card Team will send you a tax invoice within 24 hours (Monday to Friday) and payment details to arrange payment via EFT Direct Deposit. Credit Card payment is currently not available.

Credit Card online payment coming soon.

Pity no cc payment otherwise can use your cc as payment for reward points. Also its better to buy gift cards with a credit card as you are pre-paying your expenditure - so why not use someone else's money to do this :)

    • I think it is likely (seeing as these 5% off deals usually don't have free postage), that if the seller were to absorb credit card fees as well as the postage, they would not make enough profit to make it worthwhile.

      • If you use the Entertainment Book code at the Everyday Gift card site to get the 5% off, you can use your credit card and get free courier post so I'm pretty sure they make enough profits to absorb both.

Perhaps that deal is subsidized by the ~$60 cost of the Entertainment book.

Be that as it may, I've ordered enough cards to claim ack the cost of the book and then some. Using it for groceries at Woolworths, random stuff at Big W, petrol at Woolworths/Caltex, Dick Smith… and of course, deal stacking!

        • That's interesting, I wonder if the BankWest Breeze 5% rebate applies to that website. It would make it possible to get 5% off gift cards with free postage, and then get 5% back on that transaction.

        • fwiw, when you try to purchase a card through the Entertainment Card site now, it redirects you to this site so it looks perfectly legit to me. And it still uses credit card and free postage.

    • Thanks abc, I have updated the deal with your information.

  • who is http://www.membergiftcards.com.au ? www.membergiftcards.com (no .au) seems to belong to woolworth in NSW.

found info that cards are issued by "Wright Express" means Wright Express Australia Pty Ltd

    • Interesting. The .au link is the correct one to use, I got it from the RACQ website:
      http://www.racq.com.au/membership/members_save/wish_gift_car…

The second site you mention, www.membergiftcards.com, does not return a web page.

I think it is quite possible the .au website is not connected to Woolworths. I used to be a member of a different rewards program, www.motoronerewards.com.au, and they supplied multiple types of cards at 5% discount, Coles and WISH cards included.

Probably if you buy enough, you can purchase the cards at 10% discount from the respective stores, and you then sell them off at 5% discount, making 5% profit.

      • I have personally talked with the wholesale manager of Wish Gift Cards at Woolworths about two years ago, who told me they never sell to any one of their wholesale customers for more than 5% off and the minimum buy price for cards at that value was over $10,000.

How true this is today I don't know, but there's probably very little if any margin in this.

Thanks. But I might wait until they have implemented CC payment.

  • Are RACQ and RACT affiliated with RACV? Because RACV is not included in the list, and us Vickers are missing out.

Jeez i would move from vic.
check out the member deal here… http://www.racv.com.au/shop/SelectProd.do?prodId=1524&manufa…

Rather not be a member ;) (hint)

      • Errmm.. LOL?

    • I contacted RACV previously (Member Benefits Coordinator for the Show Your Card & Save program) and was led to believe they are working on it, but have some "system issues". I've pinged off another reminder today.

  • Yep will also wait till CC available (thanks Russ for the post)

  • Entertainment book is still better, you can use credit card for the extra points.

  • This has been available for some time in SA http://www.raa.com.au/mfm_offer_detail.aspx?TerID=423&ID=358 but I haven't ever been bothered as you have to go to an RAA office. Can't be ordered online.

    • You can use credit card payment with the RAA gift cards.

  • Just ordered and paid for by credit card. Thanks OP!

    I don't see NRMA anymore… :(

PS: Sorry, jumped the gun. Didn't read the 'EDIT' on the post.

    • I am pretty sure it will be back, this isn't the first time it has "gone away".

Perhaps each car club has a ceiling of maybe a hundred cards a day? Try again tomorrow, then maybe in a week.

      • Thanks for the tip. Will keep checking :)

        • +1

I clicked on RACQ and put in my NRMA member number.
Didn't complain and hopefully no validation will be done post-payment.

        • I almost did that but then wasn't sure if the site would accept it and gave up. Nice to know it actually worked.

  • RACT members can get them from them.

  • Theres something obtusely wicked about buying these on credit card and gettings points plus 5% off at Woolworths.

    • They figure it's a good thing if they can lock you into spending in their stores. If you have one of these in your pocket, you are more inclined to think: I'd better use it.

  • I paid by visa card. Seems like using credit card is the only option.

  • NRMA has been taken off, But comments above suggest that you can Choose RACQ and still process with payment, anyone else try and was successful?

  • I also am interested in knowing if that deal was successful…ie. using NRMA number in RACQ site…

  • It does say:
•Invalid registrations will result in order not beng processed and refunded within 21 days.
    :(

  • Got my Card today, thanks Russ for the original post :)
