Can you link direct to the product(s) please?

  • I'm personally too lazy to make coffee that way!

  • Looks like a pretty reasonable price for this package, although the savings amount might be a bit overstated. I haven't looked at the price of the Dual Boiler for a while (I'm keen to get one at some point) but the Smart Grinder can be had for well under $300 (eg. $200 delivered from http://www.billyguyatts.com.au/breville-smart-grindertm-with…).

I already have the Smart Grinder, so would be interested to see what the breakdown is on your receipt for the Dual Boiler. Might help pick up one at a good price.

Sounds like a nice system you've just got yourself though.

  • Wow good price for a grinder/espresso machine combo, considering twin boiler!

  • I've been recently having a look at these and been having trouble choosing between these the rancilio Silvia v3, lelit pl41 or the dual boiler breville. The best price I had so far was here -

    http://www.streamaster.com.au/index.php?main_page=index&manu…

DJ's had them for $1200 pre July 1 and I was at good guys auburn just last weekend and they had no stock but the guy said he would struggle to match that price! And that's with no grinder!

I'm very interested at this price I think its just made my decision for me!

Though my purchase decision was several years ago across different models of these brands, I went with the Lelit and it was always between the Lelit and the Rancilio. Dropping that amount of money on a coffee machine warranted plenty of research and at the time all I kept hearing when these brands came up was "buy a coffee machine, not an appliance" hence why Breville was never in the picture.

But of course new models, maybe things have changed.

I have no problems with my Lelit and it makes better milk based coffees than most city cafes though I think any of those machines would. But dont expect too much if you are an espresso person.

      • You pretty much read my mind… However i can't find anything bad written about this machine yet, it's reviews and tests have been very positive and spec wise you need to spend almost another grand to match it…
It's really just longevity that is not proven at this point…
        Still can't decide….

  • sweet….going to use my 20% off gift cards for this. Thanks for posting.

    fixed finally :D

  • Was the price set before they offered the extended warranty?

  • Yes, it was set at 1099.

I then bought the extra 2 years warranty which was $109.

  • Thanks for posting receipt tigs69. One thing I noticed on your receipt is "no exchange" clause for the grinder. Not sure if you read the CoffeeSnobs forum but a few people have had problems with this grinder not producing correct espresso grind i.e. not fine enough. I hope you don't have this issue else it may be tricky to return your unit given the clause.

    • That may be true, but the grinder is basically free so it's still a great deal. Aren't the shim kits that Breville send out for free supposed to fix the grind issue?

Anyone had any luck matching this deal yet?

  • It's quite a niche market.. $1100 for a manual coffee machine might seem a lot to most families as they probably don't even know how to tamper coffee…

I wouldn't be surprised if only a couple of people actually buy it.

    • The dual boiler is a steal at this price, especially compared to those $2000+ DeLonghi monstrosities pictured with an inch-thick milk layer that's somehow meant to be what you get at a cafe (huh!?). I agree though that many families would probably opt for some sub-500 machine with Nespresso pods… sigh.

Anyway, THANKYOU for posting this - my local good guys just matched it this morning, and I've set it up already. Loving it, but it's a whole new learning curve after being so accustomed to the Sunbeam 6910.

A bit of "retail-precedent" helps so much when haggling the price down, thanks for doing the hard work for me :P

  • Im glad i helped someone out :D
It's a bargain at this price!!!!!

I doubt anyone can beat this deal.. it took me a week worth of haggeling to this pice and in the end i had to speak with several store owners.

  • Has anyone had any luck price matching in Sydney??

  • +1

Thank you so much for posting this deal and the invoice. I just got a pricematch from my local good guys here in Sydney and they managed to wangle in the free smart grinder as well….after a day of using the coffee machine…I love it!! More to the point I love the price. I have been coveting this machine since it was released and this is the best deal I have seen after lots of searching. The store I got it from stated the sell price was below cost by $63.
    Thanks once again,
    QM

    • which store did you go to?? cheers….

  • Quirky can you let me know which store?? And also the salesman name on your receipt?? I've now been to 3 good guys castle hill, auburn and prospect also 2 bing lees and a Harvey Norman and have been told at almost every store that I'm dreaming… One bing lee was willing to match the price but with no grinder… I spoke with the owner of blacktown gg's and he said for that price they (gg's hoppers crossing) must have bought atleast a dozen and they still would have sold it at under 'cost'…

    • wilko23 - You hear anything from quirkykiwi ? I tried to message him but he does not accept messages.

would love to get it at this price in Sydney but have had no luck so far.

      • nothing yet, im assuming that if they did get that price then they got it at the penrith store? i havent tried calling yet though… (quirkykiwi lives blue mountains according to their profile) Let me know how you go though im starting to lose hope! If you do find somewhere that will come to the party can you message me right away… what places have you tried??

        cheers

  • Anyone got a best price on this lately, assuming the $1099 price is unachievable now?
    I'm looking at purchasing.

  • It's still achievable but some places might not grant the free smart grinder.

  • +1

I have been all over to ask about the above deal…. Harvey Normans, Bing Lees, Good Guys, Myer, Domayne and none would do this deal… The best was matching the price of the machine but no grinder at a bing lee in black town… Until i bought one yesterday at Clive Anthonys in Castle Hill - I got the machine for $1026 (better price than the above deal) and the grinder $152. After negotiating the machine price i was tempted to wait until fathers day hoping for a free grinder deal but really wanted to just buy it and start using it…. So overall i paid $1178 for machine and grinder.. pretty happy with that… best online price is with stream master - $1179 with no grinder….

I did call hoppers crossing good guys to enquire about the deal and they were willing to still honour that price! so if you are in melbourne that is a steal…

The stores i enquired at with no luck were -
Good guys - penrith, auburn, castle hill, black town, alexandria -
Myer - city, top ryde, parramatta
Bing Lee - rhodes, black town
Harvey norman - black town, auburn, alexandria, castle hill,
    domayne - auburn

  • Cant you buy from The Good Guys hoppers crossing and pay the $20 shipping?

In the end im glad you got one for a fairly good price! Keeping in mind that the good guys now want almost $1499 for the machine alone!

  • +1

Hoppers crossing good guys don't have shipping, that is the online good guys shipping price…

I'm very happy with my price… I haven't heard of someone buying both the machine and grinder for less?!

    • Wow! $1178 is still a really great price keeping in mind the free smart grinder promotion isn't offered anymore. Anyway, this is what I understand asking around a couple of the local Good Guys stores near me. When or whether it's offered again, who knows.

  • $1269 for BDB and smart grinder at David Jones until 2 September.

If DJs can manage that price, hopefully the electrical chains can do better.
