  • Question is whether its better than the newer Huawei Y200, with the same specs (potentially poorer battery life?) at the same price:

    • The question is whether the $45 Lg Optimus Spirit is better than this phone and 3 times cheaper.

I got this phone a year ago for $188, a $50 discount is nothing for a years time.

      This is not a deal.

      • yes i agree that the Lg Optimus Spirit is better than this phone is better and cheaper. xDEFiNE how do you get it for $45? i paid $49.50 yesterday from Bilos with my flybuys card. I called many Coles but they were all sold out. If anyone still anyone today is the last day try and call Bi Lo's as they still have a few left. The staff on the phone mention that this model is being replaced soon as they received internal notice. I couldn't get any more info so i'm not going to open the box yet as i have 30 days to return it. Anyone know the price and specs of the new model replacing the Lg Optimus Spirit ? i think you need to activate the sim number located on the outside of the box to get the 1000 flybuy points? now i just need to find a free or very cheap way to unlock it. has anyone tried calling Telstra telling them they are going overseas on holidays to get a free unlock code?

        • Unlocked mine with an unlock code purchased from eBay, cost less than $1.

      • Can you find an unlocked 3.5"+ smartphone for a lower price than this? As far as I know, no!

    • The y200 is next g compatible and is clocked at 800mhz instead of 600, so its better in more ways than one

  • The huawei ascend g300 is actually $152 and kicks the crap out of this one.

    • just a word of warning though, I've purchased this phone had it about a week and so far haven't had any luck finding someone who can unlock it, Voda at the moment wants $75 to unlock it …

      • try ebay. saw unlock code less than 10 bucks overseas.

        • yeh was actually emailing a few of them to see if they could do it.. :)

      • Root the phone and its unlocked!

    • You're comparing a prepaid phone, with subsidy from the carrier.

      • What?
It is prepaid, its locked to the carrier but can be unlocked, you are not obligated to remain with the one offering the phone to you.

  • The old LG Optimus One has similar specs (slightly better actually) and is around $100 unlocked.

  • Huawei Sonic @ $138 vs LG Optimus Spirit @ $49 @ Coles = No contest, no bargain.

    • LG deal ends TODAY 22nd…get a move on if you want one

  • I think this is a good deal because most of the new low-mid end phones coming out are all 850mhz - very limited choices for those of us who need 900mhz/2100mhz. Yes it would be great to try a Y200 or G300 but not possible for anyone needing the 900mhz/2100mhz bands. So this one, for $138 unlocked is a pretty good option for those of us looking for low/medium end Android phones.

    • I reckon the new low-mid is 1G mhz (price at $150, G300 for example) since quad core is the new higher end processor.

  • +1

Not to neg this deal for the price drop. But my experience with huawei x3 remind me
to stay away from Huawei phones at least for next couple years.

Yes, agree with ITveteran. My daughter had trouble with her phone under warrantry and could not get warrantry service from Huawei. Promised pick ups and contact by courier, never eventuated. Emails never got response. Then trying to contact them via phone for follow found me getting cut off after 1 hour + on hold. So took it to DSE who exchanged the phone to a Samsung. Thank God! So unless customer service has improved dramatically, AVOID!

Nine months since the Acer Liquid MT, with 480x800, and still no Android bargain has come close.

  • Terrible phone. I had one of these and the lag was unbearable. Don't attempt to use Skype on it. You get what you pay for which is why I got an SGS3
