Google Nexus 7 Tablet 16GB $299 at JB Hi-Fi Moorepark
This was posted 10 months 29 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
Just bought Google Nexus 7 Tablet 16gb for $299 at Jb Hifi Moorepark. Its the normal price on the google website but you dont pay postage and wait it be shipped. I think they have quite a few available.
+1 votedoctorwatson on 22/07/2012 - 14:55 ¶Hmm Dont see any voucher inside, what does it look like? Do I need to register to get the $25 credit?

It think its only if you buy from Google.
"Buy the new tablet from Google and get $25 credit to spend on Google Play, as well as some great free content, including your own copy of Transformers: Dark of the Moon." https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_7_16g...
A guy from work got one from Google delivered this week, when he turned it on it was already linked to his account "Hello XXXX" but he still had to download the movie separately. I'm not sure how the credit was applied - but I didn't see any vouchure.
doctorwatson on 22/07/2012 - 15:03 ¶probably this answers it: http://www.examiner.com/article/nexus-7-users-get-free-25-go...
+1 votePostulative on 22/07/2012 - 15:37 ¶Yes… and if I were Google, I'd be freezing accounts that tried that trick until they provided a refund. It's like the Coles voucher debacle - anyone who tries to rig the system is fair game for fraud/shoplifting charges, or at the very least being banned from service.

That's what I'd assume, anyway. Could be wrong.

Grats on your awesome tablet.
too bad no external sd card
With all the comments on previous Nexus7 deals, it's no secret that the tablet doesn't have an external micro sd slot. Your comment comes across "Hahaha, sucked in, there's no expandable storage."
Even without expandable storage, the tablet is well worth it. iOS devices and the Galaxy Nexus don't have microsd slots, yet people still buy them.one small question: why it took around 16 hrs to show yourself? you need an apk for that??? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
So lame
medium_tight on 23/07/2012 - 13:54 ¶I never laugh at the lack of external storage
You quoted my post as well. It's good to be part of community that we could give as many info for the prospective buyers - like shipping cost, dodgy seller, specs of the product, so on
ozbargain is not for android or iphone exclusive.
Ok. so just end it here shall we? we got plenty of bargain to look after

The credit was automatically there for me. I had previously registered on Google Market/Play for my android phones. All previous purchases/downloads plus the $25 credit are there on the N7. (To use the credit, choose it as a payment option at checkout - selected by default for me).
ProspectiveDarkness on 22/07/2012 - 17:16 ¶I highly doubt they'll allow price beating on these. Pretty much no profit margin to speak of, as it is.

Yes, hardware cost for 16gb version is $US159.25 so they can make some money out of it for sure.

-1 voteProspectiveDarkness on 22/07/2012 - 19:32 ¶Sure, that's the hardware costs. But factoring in Google's profit cut, Asus' cut, Australia tax and associated shipping costs…
I'm just saying, Officeworks will probably be more reluctant than usual to honour the 5% price beating, IMO.
ProspectiveDarkness on 22/07/2012 - 19:34 ¶They sell for $299 on the Play store, as well. Obviously the retailers would be getting something out of it, but if they're selling at a price equal to that of Google, it can't be that much.
Same can be said of Apple products, really.
lamerthanlam on 22/07/2012 - 21:50 ¶They will allow for price match. It is a company policy. If you can anything selling lower even if it is for $10, officeworks will price match.
Though given the low profits, they'll probably undercut the competition by $1 to prevent price matching.
+1 voteProspectiveDarkness on 22/07/2012 - 22:39 ¶I know what the policy is, the problem is in getting them to honour it.
lamerthanlam on 22/07/2012 - 22:46 ¶Yeah which basically means they will have to honour it.
The real issue here is whether there will be an opportunity if any for price matching.
+1 voteI once had a manager try to get out of it and said all the websites were down, he then found one closer to the price and matched that but not with the 5%. I wrote an email to the officeworks site asking why they advertise the price matching and they gave me an extra $5 voucher because of it, so they do honour the deals, though sometimes reluctantly.
+2 votesPostulative on 22/07/2012 - 15:38 ¶It's tempting, but I think my next tablet will be a Microsoft Surface. Which had better come with SD slot.
+1 voteevangelion on 22/07/2012 - 18:52 ¶there is also supposed to be some new tablets from Samsung and Asus amongst others for win 8 as well.
+1 voteregistradus on 22/07/2012 - 16:04 ¶Shows up as $317 on website??? http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/tablets/asu...

According to the article, it is 16gb config only in australia so far.

+4 votesalwayseric on 22/07/2012 - 18:23 ¶Below manufacturers cost?
U may also believe jb is losing money to sell it @299
goodonservice on 22/07/2012 - 18:47 ¶I doubt a newly released tab such as this the resellers will be willing to sell it at a lose…..doesnt make sense if a business is not making money on these

+4 votesAs an alternative one could consider the Galaxy Tab 7.7 - for $329 incl delivery (+ another $10 off with TAB10OFF voucher) from Mobileciti. Posted a few days on 19/7/12.
Better screen, micro SD card slot.
Slower processor, still waiting on ICS.
I bought the 7.7 a few months ago with the AusPost 20% GG Cards.
I think at $319 its a steal.
evangelion on 22/07/2012 - 18:53 ¶Dont forget the soon to be released Amazon Kindle Fire 2's (apparently 4 different versions)
lamerthanlam on 22/07/2012 - 21:48 ¶Catch it quick. Sales ends tonight apparently.
The processor is just behind the Tegra3 though. Tegra3 is seriously way overhyped.
nakedposition on 23/07/2012 - 23:00 ¶Is there any particular reason why people aren't voting this a better deal?

-1 votesmarter_fool on 22/07/2012 - 19:51 ¶Gawd… I am sold! I know there are many like me who have more than one laptop, an iPad or equivalent is now thinking well this would be handy on the train to and fro from work. Should be easy on the wrist and convenient because it is not priced like iPads or other high PERFORMING tablets. So I don;t have to be easy on it.

All this move towards "cloud" storage is good but with our sheety internet limits, they are rather useless. By the way guys, the graphics is good on the nexus but the games are huge too. Games with great graphics often take an average of 1gb. factor in your movies into the nexus. you're going to have a bad time eventually.
+1 voteActually there is NO native USB Mass Storage support via USB OTG: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6061/mhl-and-usbotg-on-the-nex...
You do indeed have to root and install a third party app to get it to work.

dvsbastard on 23/07/2012 - 13:25 ¶I am surprised this deal has so many votes seeing as JB Hi-Fi are not exactly selling it for $299 - OP got lucky with whoever served him as I don't think the price has been repeated.
I would be keen to know if someone else manages to get it at JB for $300…
