+1 voteblablabla23 on 03/08/2012 - 18:14 ¶lol yeah. I got so excited and logged into my box account thinking to cancel it but then i saw i already had 50GB. Size limit for uploads is 100MB for non-paying customers, fyi.
+1 voteFor comparison Dropbox has 300MB per file for free users. But this is offset by its much smaller offering of 2GB per new account (although this can easily get to 24~50GB if referring friends and taking advantage of its special offers)
Also if you have a HTC Sense 4.0 phone you immediately get 23GB extra storage for 2 years.
Mindsweeper on 03/08/2012 - 20:28 ¶25GB extra Dropbox storage also applies if you have a Galaxy S3.
Mindsweeper on 04/08/2012 - 00:51 ¶I just logged in using the Dropbox app on my phone and was given 25GB free for two years.
+2 voteshuh? I've definitely uploaded hundreds of MB more in a single file before from a free account. Are you sure of this limitation, or is it new?
edit: yep I looked it up and that limit only applies to uploads through the website. If you sync through the desktop program there is no limitation https://www.dropbox.com/help/5/en

This is how to get the extra 50Gb. You need a rooted Android Phone.

+1 voteThank you very much. Combined with the more useful Skydrive - Free Upgrade to 25GB @433+ OB votes; I will have 50GB online storage, along with those several GB's bundled in with my gmail/email.
+1 votefirepowered on 03/08/2012 - 23:39 ¶Does Box have a Windows program like Dropbox? Would like to add my photos while overseas so I dont have to buy a larger memory card.
Dropbox is perfect to backup photos via drag and drop and it seems Box is online a online interface?
blablabla23 on 05/08/2012 - 16:46 ¶desktop sync is available for box but you'll need to have either a business or enterprise account to do so, which isn't free.

update:
I just realised I didn't even have to follow the link in this deal.
Box for Playbook gives you 50GB free anyways

+1 voteGot my 25GB and I've been trialling Box for a week now. The results aren't good.
I tried syncing 24GB of photos; over 12,000 in total.
On the first attempt, it only synced 5GB of photos to Box. In the process the Box client stated that downloaded 33 files to my PC. This was despite the fact that my online Box folder was empty. Huh?
And of greatest concern, Box deleted 432 files from my PC. (Fortunately I was syncing from a copy of the photos.)
The client also seems to grind itself to a halt a lot. Particularly on the "Searching your computer for updated files" phase. Rebooting the PC fixes this.
Sure, this is only one person's experience, but I thought it worthy of noting the "randomly deleting files" issue for others.

They had 50GB last year for new accounts, and while this sounds good, its not as usable as Drop Box, as Box has file size limitations which i forget the size limit. Its very good if you want to store a large number small files.
Drop Box has the edge in useability as you also have the desktop app for PCs and Macs free.
