expired Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7" Wi-Fi 16GB $276 at Dick Smith
This was posted 9 months 14 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
OK, who missed out the Harvey Norman deal, now you have a chance to get it from Dick Smith for $2 less.
I think JB also lower their price. This model GT-P6810LSEXSA I think is the 7.7" instead of 7" mentioned on the site which they price it at $348.

ProspectiveDarkness on 07/08/2012 - 15:58 ¶The free shipping is only available if you purchase with accessories. And I would say that Dick Smith is much easier to deal with (for those of us unable to pick up from MC, at least)
+2 votessuperforever on 07/08/2012 - 11:02 ¶Like me be strong, resist the bargain :p
Anyway if you only use it at home 10" is better.
+1 voteActually I own a Nexus 7 and an iPad 3 and reading is the only time I put the iPad down. Reading on a 7" is MUCH better due to the smaller weight allowing you to hold it with one hand an the lines being narrower, making it easier to jump to the next line without skipping a line (there's a good reason wider text books have 2 columns).
sonicentropy on 07/08/2012 - 12:16 ¶Same - my ipad-Nu doesnt get a look in since I got my Nexus7 the screen is super sharp and it is very light and with Plex I can watch my whole video library on my Nexus via wifi
c4ppuc1nn0 on 07/08/2012 - 11:49 ¶Yes..but 7.7" is very convenient compared with 10" for mobility reasons. I have both..and definitely 10" at home and 7" outside.

hi guys, just hoping someone could help me here -
I am looking at getting either a Galaxy 7.7 tab or Ipad 2.
I googled comparisons between the 2 and some of them are dated end of last year.
I thought the Galaxy 7.7 only came out a few months ago? Or is this an updated/new version?Anyone got any thoughts on which tab to go with (considering ipad2 is about $100 more but extra 2" screen.
thanks
superforever on 07/08/2012 - 11:01 ¶iPad and 7.7" tablet are completely difference. Some peoples with iPad will still buy a 7" tablet.
If you want to carry around and on the road get the 7.7". If you only use it at home get iPad or 10" tablet.

+7 votesiOS regular updates are awesome. So many minor updates to ensure the jailbreak bugs are fixed.
iOS 5 - So Cool…. Apple re-invented notification bar.
iOS 4.3 - So Cool…. Apple re-invented pocket WiFi Hotspot.
iOS 6 - no more Google Map, YouTube by default. Super cool.
And, best of all, if you don't upgrade to new enough versions of iOS, latest TomTom and other apps won't work. Fantastic, no more TomTom map updates for iPhone 3G users.

Assuming the people press + are all android users who never own an IOS device. Androids are good so long that you have to work hard to find a solution to fix the system yourself. Not bad for people like to do a bit of DIY. I own a few Android devices and I know what it is like.

I own multiple iOS devices. I also own multiple Android devices.
"Assuming" things is not a good idea. My post had nothing to do with Android vs iOS. I was just joking and some people get the joke, some don't. That's all. You cannot assume Apple owners cannot enjoy both iOS and Android devices. I am perfectly happy for people to tease my new iPad (i.e. it is more iPad 2S than iPad 3, heavier than iPad 2 etc…) or my Android devices.
When comparing, please compare equivalent devices. Samsung Galaxy Tab was released around the iPad 1 days. Comparing a single core Android and a dual core iOS device does not seem fair to me. Besides, Galaxy Tab (3G built in) at $299 from Telstra was a bargain at the time - no doubt about it. If you were talking about a different Galaxy Tab, then be specific. I wouldn't consider a Tegra2 based 2nd gen Galaxy Tab a true Samsung Galaxy Tab…

superforever on 07/08/2012 - 14:19 ¶The laggy mainly due to android 3 and the Samsung UI.
Big improvement after ICS.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 - no Samsung CPU inside, only Tegra 2 and that's why it is slow.
User experience, it actually depends. There are good widgets. Having more icons on each screen is not a bad thing. 1080p mkv streaming on GT 7.7 is fine (new iPad can do it in theory, but Apple won't allow it).
Samsung Galaxy Tab (original/1) is actually good. In terms of Web browsing experience, it actually is BETTER than the Galaxy Tab 10.1 you bought. However, Samsung probably shouldn't have released GT 10.1.
I have no issue about you complaining GT 10.1 on its own. However, comments like "Samsung made bad tablets from the start" and basically use GT 10.1 (which does not have even have a Samsung CPU) as the benchmark device isn't not the right thing to do. Why do you think Apple targeted Samsung tablets and tried to block Samsung tablets from selling here in Australia? Also, your new iPad CPU is actually made by Samsung. Wouldn't suprise me if the flash ROM chips in the new iPad are also made by Samsung.
-2 votesMake and design are two different things. Apple can oursource it to some other coys at any time if they really get pissed off by Samsung. For example, the screen. If you read Steve Jobs and also recent court news, you will know why Samsung is targeted. Samsung chose to copy instead of innovate as it is the easiest way to catch up competitors. In short, Google's Android OS also help cooking the war. Without Android, you probably dont even want to use Samsung's phones or tablets as their original in house OS is just like hp pad os or playbook os which not many apps avail due to limited resources.

I'll try to be unbiased.
First of all, there is a massive size difference. The iPad 2 is larger and has a much larger screen, this will give you an idea:
http://www.displaywars.com/7,7-inch-16x10-vs-9,7-inch-4x3That's doesn't necessarily make the Samsung worse. For one, the Samsung screen is much higher resolution. The two best looking tablet screens in the world are the iPad 3(new iPad) screen and the Galaxy Tab 7.7.
The iPad is a coffee table or bedtime or sofa or beach toy, and needs to be carried in a bag. The GT 7.7 is perfect for public transport, carrying in a jacket/coat pocket, and for reading books and watching video when you have to hold the device for a while.
In terms of apps, the iPad is still way ahead, but you can find apps for Android to do most things, it's an advantage but not an automatic win for the iPad 2.

fattymattyd on 07/08/2012 - 18:30 ¶Get a nexus 7 instead (if you can find one), much better experience! I was considering the galaxy tab 7.7 for a long time, then the nexus came out and I have no regrets snapping it up.
revolushenary on 07/08/2012 - 18:39 ¶Is there a 10" version of this that is as good as this? I heard the 10.1 is pretty bad, but not sure if its the same series as this one.
ProspectiveDarkness on 07/08/2012 - 19:58 ¶Not really, no. The new Note 10.1 is being released soon - quad core Exynos, 2GB of RAM, S Pen - but no word on pricing, and the res is fairly 'meh'. The Asus Infinity is probably the best 10" Android tablet out at the moment, but Australia got screwed over in release and pricing (as usual).
ProspectiveDarkness on 08/08/2012 - 16:54 ¶Yeah, its been rumoured for a while and documents in the Apple vs Samsung case indicated that they were planning an 11.8 inch, 2560 x1600 screen - nothing official yet, but I have high hopes.
-1 votesuperforever on 07/08/2012 - 23:07 ¶Anyone found that SUPER AMOLED screen is better for reading ebook because of no backlight?

As far as I can tell this still doesn't compare to the cheapo Ainol Novo Elf 2
http://www.redtabletpc.com/ainol-novo-7-elf-ii-tablet-pc-aml...Apart from being a well known brand.. everything else seems to be much better on the Elf 2 except it's 8gb instead of 16gb (SD card fixes this)

+2 votes1024x600 display vs 1280x800, the Samsung has 66% more pixels and a larger better AMOLED screen and much better build quality. You'll notice believe me. The Samsung is thinner, has better battery life and a much faster processor and GPU (it's not just about the Ghz..). The Ainol is a decent toy but there really isn't any comparison. You also get local warranty with Samsung.
superforever on 08/08/2012 - 11:14 ¶If anyone really want one try The Good Guy online store they have it for $299.

YoursTruly101 on 08/08/2012 - 15:35 ¶Will the sydney stores be doing home delivery ? If so i will have it chipped to melb ! Although it might cheaper to just buy the $299 7" Samsung Tab 2.
warwick108 on 08/08/2012 - 16:13 ¶i got offered the tab 2 7inch for 230.. =)
i didnt end up buying it tho.. let me know if your interested i might be able to help you out =)
superforever on 08/08/2012 - 16:33 ¶You are in Melbourne not Syndey :(
I am just wondering which JB did that.
warwick108 on 08/08/2012 - 16:44 ¶was talking to Yourstruely101 as he stated he wanted a tab 2..
the one in epping (no inside the plaza) corner of childs road and high st..

superforever on 10/08/2012 - 11:02 ¶They removed it from their site, so I don't think they will have more stock coming in next week.
