Feedback on the 'Bargain' you would like for an ADSL / Home Phone bundle
Hi all,
We are working on an offer for OzBargain and would love your feedback to help construct something that you really believe is a 'bargain' and a great offer.
The basis of the offer will be an ADSL 2+ / Home phone bundle (unfortunately only available in Optus ULL areas) with the below inclusions:
ADSL 2+ 500GB Data
Home Landline Rental
All local, national and calls to AU mobiles included
All other calls such as 13/1300/International etc. charged at normal rates
12 Month contract
BYO Modem
$0 Connection Fee (including option of line being connected at no cost)
This is a new bundle we haven't officially released yet and the normal price will be $79.95 per month with a 24 month contract.
So the question is what sort of discount/bargain would you like to see on this sort of bundle for OzBargain? Would you like first month free and $10 discount per month or for the monthly fee to be reduced as much as possible and not to worry about first month free? We're open to all reasonable thoughts/suggestions to put something together that works for you.
Would love your feedback and any questions you might have.

acecommunications on 08/08/2012 - 18:20 ¶Thanks for the feedback Gallifrey.
Relocation fees are always challenging because of the fees we are charged so we need to make sure we are covering those costs. I'd love to be able to offer a $0 relocation fee for example or a minimal fee as you suggested but we just would not recoup the cost over the term of the contract to cover that.
However definitely taking into account what you have said so we will make sure with this offer for OzBargain that we keep the relocation fee as low possible (hopefully somewhere around $65) to keep the offer attractive.
acecommunications on 26/09/2012 - 00:28 ¶In regards to the offer at http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/80569 the relocation fee is $65 (I presume that was what the question was in regards to). The relocation fee is charged by Ace to you as we incur a fee from our supplier for relocations. Any other questions please let us know.

acecommunications on 08/08/2012 - 17:58 ¶Thanks for the feedback so far guys - it's great, I'll respond in bulk once there is a bit more feedback.
Rack: The ISP is us - www.acecommunications.com.au. Network for this particular bundle is Optus.
acecommunications on 08/08/2012 - 18:16 ¶That is right, just ADSL 2+ with landline included (and the calls) - unfortunately no option for us to be able to sell Optus cable.
Data wise it is just one plan and we don't have any options for a smaller data limit, however we're trying to make the price of this bundle at a point where those who don't need the high amount of data aren't penalised and for it to be still worthwhile for them to sign-up.
+2 votesacecommunications on 08/08/2012 - 19:30 ¶This particular bundle is 500GB with no peak or off-peak, those plans with off-peak data are different plans/bundles (and different wholesale network).

Technical issues with lotus network could be an issue withBYO modem. There are a few stories around thoose lines.
Is Optus a torrent friendly network -speed restriction and warning letters etc?
What happens when NBN is rolled out. Would you look to offer similar value for money plansqlq
acecommunications on 08/08/2012 - 20:55 ¶We haven't had any problems to date with BYO modem as long as they are ADSL 2+ compatible but if there was an issue would look after the customer as much as we can on price for a new modem (or recommend some options for them).
In regards to usage of the service it would be as per the acceptable use policy, we will put a link to this AUP when we place the offer online.
We're going to be taking NBN 'expression of interest' registrations later this month with NBN plans to be released in September/October. We expect to be able to connect NBN services in November.
Any customer on an existing Ace service (this bundle or not) we will aim to provide an easy migration path to an NBN service (and a comparable offer where possible).
huntress_love on 09/08/2012 - 15:57 ¶not sure how NBN works! do you still need a activate phone line to connect or is it something different, that if i dont have a phone line it'll still work?
+1 voteacecommunications on 09/08/2012 - 16:03 ¶Once you can get the NBN you won't need an active traditional phone line as such to connect. You will however be able to have a phone service to run over your NBN connection using VoIP.
acecommunications on 09/08/2012 - 15:38 ¶Unfortunately we have no way to separate the home phone from the bundle so we would have to leave that in, but price wise for this bargain offer we do want to make it still attractive to those who don't really need the home line or the 500GB of data so we'll take that into account.
huntress_love on 09/08/2012 - 15:02 ¶$10 discount on this bundle would be good.
better if included 13/1300 calls, as i only really use my homephone for those as there's usually wait time to call a company and dont want to burn thru my credit on mobile.
acecommunications on 09/08/2012 - 15:39 ¶We'd love to include the 13/1300 calls but price wise at this point we couldn't do it, however we'll aim to discount the bundle more than the $10 for this offer to help cover those 13/1300 calls you have to make.
+1 voteshopaholic32 on 10/08/2012 - 00:02 ¶My contract just expired with Optus on the $99 plan with 500GB and unlimited all you can eat local, mobile and National calls, no surprises every month, that is the way I like it, so we call anytime, same with many of my family & friends as well. For me Not really interested in the $10 discounts just want an all in NO surprise package with 13/1300 included. If you got a good deal for me please PM me.
acecommunications on 10/08/2012 - 10:48 ¶We can't do that exact deal but will aim to put together something based on the overall feedback. Price point we're aiming at something quite a bit lower than $79.95 (which will be the normal price for this bundle once released) to make it attractive to the majority. As the monthly fee will be quite a bit lower than $99 for those that need International calls we'd recommend they sign-up to one of our VoIP plans (with options of International calls included to certain countries).
We plan to post the offer on Monday or Tuesday.
acecommunications on 14/08/2012 - 22:40 ¶Thanks everyone for the feedback, we've finalised the 'offer' for OzBargain - just completing a few things internally so we can make the offer available and ready to start processing any applications.
I'll post a link in here to the offer once online. Thanks again for all the feedback, much appreciated!
+1 voteacecommunications on 18/09/2012 - 22:10 ¶Apologies for the delay it is happening but didn't happen last month as we had to finalise a few things.
The deal will be going online our web site with a special OzBargain discount later this week and run until the end of September.
I'll post an update on this forum thread once the offer is online.
acecommunications on 25/09/2012 - 17:40 ¶Confirming it is shaped to 72kbps once you hit the limit, no additional fees.
acecommunications on 25/09/2012 - 16:32 ¶Just letting you know that this offer is now online - full details at http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/80569. Thanks again for all your feedback.
Peccadilloes on 21/10/2012 - 07:14 ¶i like the simplest plan without first month free to factor in so WYSIWYG

Lowest monthly fee as possible and no hidden charges. What would be good is to be able to take the connection to a new house if one moves. That is what stops me from getting those plans - I am not willing to pay $200 just because I move house. Then can do it overseas for no fee or for a minimal fee (like $20) so why can Aussie companies not do that.
Something in the area of $50-$60 on a 12 months contract and shaping after the data allowance is used up (no excess charges). Also no off peak on-peak times. Again, overseas and in Asia they have true flat rates at much lower monthly charges - it should be possible to do it here.
