expired 8x AA Eneloop Rechargeable Glitter Batteries at DSE $19.99 + Postage
This was posted 10 months 4 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
Here we go again folks, the Glitter Eneloops that so many seem to love are on special once more!
Home delivery ONLY, no click and collect. Postage looks to be $4.95, maybe more if you're out in the sticks, just enter your postcode to find out before you order.
Copied from the website and edited a bit so it actually makes sense:
Just like the classic Eneloop, the Eneloop Glitter batteries get pre-charged at the Japanese factory with power generated from solar energy. For this reason, the batteries are ready to use directly after being purchased. Thanks to their Low Self Discharge (LSD), Eneloop batteries keep approximately 75% of their initial charge even after 3 years of storage. Like Eneloop, Eneloop Glitter can be recharged up to 1500 times. The batteries have a nominal voltage of 1.2V and a rated capacity of 2000mAh.
Additionally the limited edition packs include batteries in 8 different glitter colors: purple, pink, orange, yellow, light green, light blue, silver and black, which enables users to pick colors according to their taste or to use colors to remember which batteries are charged and which ones need to be recharged.
Mod: Also Glitter Eneloop 8xAA + Polaroid 4x4GB SDHC Online Bundle $39.95

the one at DSE doesn't seems to bad either at $19.95 with 4 batteries. since you are already paying shipping.

+2 votesAgreed, older style brute force chargers that don't switch off or go to trickle mode when the cell is full can significantly shorten the life of a NiMH cell in no time, smart chargers are definitely the go these days.
I've got an older charger here that made the batteries so hot when they were charging, the plastic coating peeled off a couple one day. Thankfully they weren't my Eneloops or anything I cared too much about.
caprimulgus on 16/08/2012 - 23:17 ¶Depends which package. The one linked above isn't. The 2 slot usb one dse had on sale ages back is. So really just depends…
bottom line is, just because it's a packaged eneloop charger doesn't mean anything…you have to check what sort of charging termination method it uses.

Theres not much dumb charger out there that can overcharge. Standard chargers these days would cut-off once filled up. So they are totally fine. What I gather is that these "smart" chargers can cycle which are good for them. Thats all. I really can't recall seeing a cheap charger that allows overcharging.

This one is good for a cheap delta V charger.
http://dicksmith.com.au/product/S4452/varta-lcd-charger-with...Also, I purchased these(the glitter eneloops) a while back with a friend who needed batteries too, we got 4 sets and split them up so we each got 4 sets of 4 colours. Very handy if you lose track of which batteries need charging!

Shipping this item to your default address may require an additional 2 to 3 weeks to process.
I take this as meaning it's not physically in stock even though it says it is. They're probably trying to get stock ASAP which is why I said to keep an eye on it, status could change any moment.
When I posted the BC-1000 deal, it came in and out of stock many times, the numbers available were up and down like a 90's whitehouse intern.

would you call this a better deal ?? :S

+2 votesThe 2700mah batteries aren't Low Self Discharge, so they'll run down their charge fairly quickly by themselves.
Sanyo have an Eneloop Pro range which is 2500mah, but they're only rated to be recharged around 500 times. Plus their shelf life isn't as good as regular Eneloop batteries.
This Eneloop battery may only be 2000mah, but it can be recharged roughly 1500 times, and has a much better shelf life than the above two. It's a much better allround battery.

+1 voteAnd this was posted last night (Eneloop 4x AAA from ShoppingSquare)
GreatWhiteHunter on 16/08/2012 - 11:56 ¶There is also a bundle with 4x4gb memory cards
http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XGGLITTERWEB/glitter-eneloop...

There are have been Panasonic Evoltas around for a while now (12 months?) and they are more or less the same as the Eneloops. There is no reason to stop buying Eneloops and "start buying Panasonic batteries" as the Eneloops are still obviously excellent quality and are can be charged on any NiMH charger.

I'm aware of this. I'm just saying there is no reason to stop buying Eneloops. It's not like you have to worry about a lack of post-purchase support if the Sanyo brand is phased out. It's a battery. And a good quality one at that. And obviously most importantly - glittery.

Evoltas sadly are not more or less the same as Eneloops. In a recent Choice mag rechargeable battery test the differences in performance of the LSD batts were shocking. Eneloops were WAY at the top. Evoltas were dead last.
Panasonic has a pretty unusual policy (in the corporate world) of largely letting their subsidiaries do their own thang. JVC is a keen case in point.
I don't think any of us should be buying Evoltas until we're damn sure they've become Eneloops under the skin.
donkeykong on 16/08/2012 - 12:09 ¶Here we go again :( and everytimes this happened, Amazon lacrosse charger ran out of stock.

Finally ordered the Lacrosse BC1000 from foobar's comment at top.
Really low price (camelcamelcamel.com) !lets see how we go with the existing eneloops
EDIT: And strangely, the Amazon currency converter says US$ 56.41 and AU$ 55.78
First time I have seen the Currency Converter show a lesser AU value !

Thanks for that.
The Au price was on par with the Aussie price. I doubt my credit card would have done heaps better. So I took the plunge and paid in AU dollars.
Mind you this only happened with my Mastercard. I selected the option of paying with my AMEX, it wouldn't give me the AU price.

That's how Sanyo determine the cycle lifespan. They're saying that Eneloops can withstand 1500 full charge/discharge cycles before capacity deteriorates to 50%.
I wish you all the best in finding some sort of third-party verification of this however. I'm not saying it's bullshit, just that it's unlikely that anyone has properly documented a large enough number of cycles.
+1 voteIt's the internet, of course there's something:
http://www.stefanv.com/electronics/sanyo_eneloop.html
Close, but not longer term. But the trend is fairly clear - actual performance is on spec with what Sanyo says.http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:dlzdGn0...
Google cache link because the actual site seems to be down.
Crazy - relevant quote:"From the graph, even eneloop drop about 50% of capacity after 300 cycles.
The charge and discharge rates in that graph are 1C (2000 mA), which is harder on the cells than what most people do; 1000 mA charge, 500 mA discharge."
Thanks for the that.
This is actually more useful than Sanyo's numbers because I charge at 1C quite often (and a minumum of 0.5C when I'm not in a hurry). I also use some of my cells in high current devices where they are often putting out 500mA or more).
So what it tells us is that we can push Eneloops really hard for 200 cycles without any appreciable loss in capacity, and I am more than satisfied with that.
SwarleyAUS on 16/08/2012 - 19:11 ¶Are they having problems with payment system? I cant seem to pay. That or theyve set limits as the script is erroring out for me…
FreckleNuts on 16/08/2012 - 23:09 ¶Need a charger? - the BC-700 deal appears to be back on, sort of.
See my comment at: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77318#comment-990435
+1 voteI thought that was just for the bundle at first but I can see how that could apply to both. I won't set the expiry date but I will check early tomorrow and if expired, mark it as such unless a mod does first.
The last time these came on sale, it was for a good span of time, close to 2 weeks I think. Hopefully it runs longer than 2 days.

I looked again and decided that the expiration was probably for the batteries as well, so I set this deal to expire. Checking this morning, the ad for the bundle is gone along with the expiry date and this $20 deal is still active - but marked as expired. Awww crap.
I've asked the mods to un-expire it for me, will just keep an eye on the price and expire when the special ends.
Hah, I've just checked the bundle and even though it has expired, it's still the same price for the batteries + sd cards. What a deal that was, save $0.00.
+2 votesIf you want a good laugh, click the link to the eneloop / sd card combo now they are off special.

If you're after a charger, check this deal - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75843
It's a good charger, but a tad expensive. The cheaper 700 is out of stock at present but keep an eye on it, could come back in stock any time.
