that's why there is a "1" next to your name…

  • Maybe this one is actually dual core

      • Sorry 0.3 Mpixel front facing camera. Plus 2 Mpixel rear facing camera.

    enlarged china tabs cpu

    7" going for $80ish

  • compared to an Ainol Flame/Burning at about $150/160 this seems overpriced (from my brief knowledge of tablets since ordering the Aurora II a couple of weeks ago)

    • +6

You have to realize that this is local stock, local warranty, plus Aldi has a money back guarantee which has a major advantage over buying from the likes of BuySKU/BuyInCoins.

      • +3

BuySku - Normally takes a few days to process the order. As for warranty, you need to send back the item for them to inspect (and then they will replace it) BUT be prepared to be without a tablet for 2 months with that kind of delay.

BuyInCoins - I haven't purchased a tablet from them yet BUT I have purchased an item from them. They sent me the wrong item. They did refund my money and told me this seldom happens… but guess what? My mate bought an item from them (he did it before he found out what happened to me) and after 3 weeks of wait to get the item…. he also received the wrong one.

That said, the tablet is overpriced.

        • interesting, some of us here received the correct items (tablets). Guess it's case by case. Anyways, $249 for the specs is not impressive. My U30GT is rather powerful compare to this at cheaper price. If you worry about warranty, there is a guy on Aliexpress offer free return shipping in case an item is broken within warranty period.

  • The CPU is the same as a Novo 7 Elf2 / Aurora 2 series. Performance wise it shouldn't be too bad, especially since the resolution is actually not that much different.

As to whether it compares to the U30GT, this is much weaker in performance and has a lower screen resolution, but the upside is that you're buying local.

  • looking for a tablet at the moment
is this better than the Cube U30GT
anything else for this price witch is better

Bought Lenovo Thinkpad 3G for $299 from centre com last week and very happy about it. Money well spent. Aldi should lower the price to $180 or so if they really want to get rid of them.

    • +1

I bought it too. Very happy with it also. Don't forget to claim $50 or $70 back from Powerbuy.I think it ends tomorrow.

      • Thanks for reminder Jase2801. just claimed..cheers

  • the weight! what's the weight?

  • So if this is not quite right, what's the best 10" going at the moment?

    • Google Nexus 10.

Ohhh didnt read "at the moment"

I would go for an Asus Ininity, with docking keyboard

  • I remember the rush for people to buy the last batch only to find out they got ripped off and it did not meet any of the specifications they advertised.

Only at the beginning of this year.. and everyone forgotten already?

It looks identical to the specifications posted last time.. the CPU wasnt even Dual core (it was "CPU + GPU" dual processor). I'm gonna vote a -ve.. Sorry

    • Warranted its exactly the same one.

  • +2

It's version 2 and comes with Amlogic Cortex A9 8726-MX which is a different CPU.

    • Well.. considering they posted "wrong specs" in the first place and then tried to apologise for it..

  • +1

Yeah definately over priced, it should be $199. The Ainol Novo7 Aurora 2 has the same specs for half the price, except for screen size (neither here nor there IMO), and bluetooth.

I'll stick with my Ainol Novo7 Elf 2 for $102, can't wait for it to arrive, hopefully this week.

I went to Aldi today, and spotted this in the catalogue, and thought "i wonder if anyone will post this on OzBargain" hahaha

Nexus 7 guys…. Price match at officeworks, can get for $288, maybe less…

Absolutely hammers this thing if the size doesn't worry you. 1.3 quad as stock but it runs 1.6 stable all day. some people on 2GHZ.

    • This is what I think every time there's a $250+ tablet deal posted.

    • Is there a nexus 7 shortage in australia? or is it just in SA?…$288 is really cheap!

    • I love my nexus 7.

      • You must have got one of the no faulty ones?

        • What faults do they have? I might have overseen them, clues please.

        • i think the screen was lifting away at the edges on some? considering how many were sold, I am not sure it was a very high % that were affected. but there were certainly multiple people reporting it.

    • for $210 you can get them here http://www.becextech.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2186{17}135{20}120{19}119{14}32

BUT when I went to checkout..shipping is $80?!?!

      • That's the 8gb, though, which is $250 from google so you're going to get screwed. It is the 16gb that's $300.

This is all from memory, though and that may be faulty. :)

  • This is a good price for local, and as previously stated, Aldi have a 60day return policy.

I will add that the probability of any Android updates is questionable, and the support for custom roms may also be limited.

  • What about an "iPad alternative" for the same price? $245 delivered.
    http://www.uplaytablet.com/ipad-alternative-wopad-i9-ultra-t…

    • +1

Every Android tablet is an iPad alternative. Not sure what makes this so-claimed "iPad Alternative" that much better than the current crop of RK3066 tablets out there, but $245 is quite expensive for a YuanDao.

That tablet looks like the little brother of the N101, which has better specs and is made by the same company.

My recommendation is either the Cube U30GT which you can save $20 on using the BACKSCHOOL voucher code @ BuyInCoins. Or the aforementioned N101 Window tablet.

Overall you get better screen resolution and more bang for your buck.

  • Not bad for a 9.7", although I still think the 7" Nexus 7 for $250+shipping on google play is a better buy for anyone looking into tablets, sure it's a bit smaller but the specs more than make up for it.

    • Definitely, I prefer a 7" tablet as its a lot more portable. But no muSD slot on Nexus 7 :(

  • My email to Bauhn through their website:

Hello, Last time this product was sold through ALDI the processor was advertised as a "dual core" and was not. Now are you people sure that this Android tablet has a dual core processor? and will it handle 1080p (full HD video) streamed through home network or locally? cheers.

    Response:
    Hi,

This unit has a duel core processor
    Kind Regards,
