"Short sweet title this time, everyone knows all about Ainol products by now!"

    First I'm hearing of them.

  • So is the Fire model worth an extra $30?

    • The Fire has dual cameras and bluetooth; The Aurora II does not have BT and only has single camera.

For $30, depends really, whether you need them or not. Personally I'd get the Aurora, $30 for a camera and BT seems pointless, I'd get the Aurora now, and the Fire when it is $120 in a few months, nothing wrong with a spare! But that is me, and I am a tightarse….

Larger battery, higher resolution. Personally I'd find the larger battery worth the extra $30

    • Screen resolution also seems different:

      Fire 1280x800
      Aurora 1024x600

Btw where could we find a $150 Fire?

    • If that deal wasn't expired, I wouldn't have posted this, simple as that.

And after reading this I'm not sure if the $5 is worth it.

      • Info about BuySku's return policy procedure (I was not happy with my Window N70 Dual Core Tablet - dead pixel + other screen defects):

        • You need to send back the tablet to them if you want a full refund OR a replacement
        • They will compensate 10% of the tablet cost for you postage cost
        • Alternatively, if you don't want to send the item back, they will only offer you 10% of the total item cost in terms of voucher (store credit if you like)

I did not send mine back.

BuySku postage generally takes 3 weeks. Please have "realistic" expectation about these cheap Chinese brand tablets in terms of built quality / quality control and be prepare to do a fair amount of customisation.

        • Did you pay via Paypal?

        • I did. Item not as described is hard for buyer to win (item not received is easy for buyer to win) - at least that is my understanding.

I did take photos of the screen defects and send to buysku, but that's not enough to convince buysku. I did not want to wait 6 weeks to receive another cheapy tablet (which is likely to have another screen defect).

The quality control and build quality of these Chinese brand tablets are below average so there is a risk. I've learned my mistake.

        • Want to send me through the pics and I will see what I can do (Probably nothing, but I have a few people within the company to contact) might be able to get you some $$ back?

        • +1

Will send you some photos. It is mainly Window/Yuandao's fault. Also, AustraliaPost charges too much for international postage. Otherwise, I would be happy to send it back for refund or replacement.

Just want to point out the build quality of these cheap tablets. Hope people get good ones (but it could be luck of the draw).

  • A bit more go for Ainol fire is better.

    • Have been keeping an eye on the price, if I see it drop a bit I will be sure to post it.

  • Aliexpress have a few sellers doing US$115 inc shipping.
I'm also looking into the fire, that some people say it's better, but at around $40 to $50 more.
It's almost 50% more for a bluetooth and bigger battery (AFAIK)

  • Use this for 6% off any purchase: 0905-6%OFF-BuySKU. It just worked for me. :-)

Not much I know, but it is something.

    • Products in the Cart DO NOT enjoy discounts.

I get that message, probably because it is a "Limited time sale" item. Are you positive it worked? lol

    • same response. not work for me.

      • Yep. Sure did. Sorry that it is not happening for others. I purchased a couple of things as well as the tablet and so maybe that was the difference. It automatically took 6% off the total.

I remember reading last time if you follow a affiliate link the coupon wont work.

Try without following the affiliate link, clean all cookies and browser cache, restart browser.

        • Ahhh. That must be it as i went to buySKU via FB instead of the link above.thank you strat for clarifying.

Ok you guyz have convinced me to go Ainol.

  • With these Chinese tablets are you limited to which apps you can use or google services??

    android market etc..

    • +2

Stock out of the box - Yes. But if you root it then install a custom ROM like the double stuff repacks over on slatedroid then it tells the market that you are using a nexus 7 and all apps become available.

  • +2

Note that with the Ainol Aurora II it is possible to get one with screen defects (dead pixels)

    • Have "low" expectation on these tablets.

The cheap Chinese brand tablet I received (a dual core CPU + quad core Mali with IPS screen) has two screen issues (dead pixel + a cluster of pixels displaying wrong colour), really poor battery life and a below average ICS ROM. The IPS screen is more like a rejected screen. The tablet also has wifi dropout issue.

    • Maybe the quoted screen specs on this one should be changed to '1024 x 600 pixels …approximately'.

    • Have "low" expectation on these tablets.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

"Haipad i7-T" owner here, LOL :).

  • Got 1 of these from mp4nation about a month back and while by no means is it perfect it certainly packs a punch for the price. Mine had the typical wifi dropout issue which I fixed by opening it up with a guitar pick and sticky taping a piece of foil to the antenna and since then I haven't had an issue. The development community (custom roms and mods) is only still starting out but if it can get going then these little tabs will be a lot of fun!.

  • Just went for the Ainol NOVO 7 fire/flame from Dinodirect for $162.81 via DHL can get it about $10 dollars less give or take a few dollars off that if you use the free shipping option and don't take up the premium package return fee option which was only 98cents.

Also you must use coupon : 10OFFSALE

    Product Total: AU$ 151.20
    Shipping: AU$ 10.63
    Package Returning Premium: AU$ 0.98
    Insurance: AU$0.00
    Total:AU$ 162.81

    What that 98cents covers?

    Package Returning Premium
I agree to prepay AU$ 0.98 premium to cover all my returning shipping fee in case I wanna return this package.

  • I bought a Fire last week. Just waiting for it to come in the mail. Got it for $150 as opposed to the Aurora which was $115. Fire doesn't have a huge issue with Wifi (yet) which the Aurora did. Fire also has larger resolution, larger battery (as mentioned above) and better aesthetics (aluminium finish vs gloss black). Those three things were definitely worth $35. (Don't really care about the camera)

  • got the $115 Aurora 2 few weeks ago from buy in coins. Minor screen defect- emailed them, no reply. it's minor, not such a big deal- still a good tablet IMO. just don't expect any after sales service for something like this.

    • I have emailed buysku regarding the posts above from netsurfer, I have regular contact with them anyway, will see what they come back with.

    • Usually, they don't reply emails on their website as no one is looking after it. You need to contact their Ebay account for speedy responses.
