20% Extra Points Transfer AmEx to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

30

Found this in my inbox, pretty much get a bonus 20% of whatever you already transfer. It's a 1:1 ratio, so it's a pretty good deal. Currently saving up for either Hong Kong for two or a trip to London for myself.

  • Sydney to LA - 147500 Miles + $974.92. It just doesn't seem worth it. Am i missing something? Transferring to V Australia and using for domestic flights usually represents good value.

    • Well, I've found the Hong Kong redemption to be worthwhile though..

      • Agreed, Hong Kong in Upper Class is only 80,000 miles + $399.52 return (or 66,666 points transferred). Compared to Qantas for instance at 120,000 miles return for Business Class it's far better value.

    • This is Virgin Atlantic not Virgin Australia. I believe it goes to LA via London??

  • The best I've seen is 30% bonus. But it only ever appeared once.

  • Not worth it if you are transferring form Westpac Altitude, their points usage for flights is much better even after the 20% bonus and yes this is for virgin atlantic not virgin australia.

  • Strange…..I went here to check the dates

    http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/au/en.html

Put in 1 Jan 13 and returning 5 Jan 13 from Syd - Hong Kong

It states that "Sorry, Flying Club Miles cannot be used for this roue"

Even if I change the dates, wont let me book

However, on the spend miles calculator, it states 80,000 miles + $399.52 on upper class??

  • does anyone know if points accumulated from a CBA amex card can be used for this?

    • Membership Rewards is offered through American Express' Ascent Program. I'm not sure if CBA amex points are counted to that or just their own scheme.

    • Nope, only cards issued by Amex directly. Bank issued cards use their own rewards programs.

  • hmmmm, don't see it in my inbox :(

  • is this targeted?
