  • good stuff, its pretty neat games taking the holiday spirits now days, look at androids halloween theme sales

  • Was hoping for a larger selection of games, but definitely some good deals there

    • +3

There is more on the site. I didn't write them all. Unfortunately we are Australia Taxed again (Dead Space 2 is $5 on sale in US and 5 quid in UK, $17.50 here)

      • Yeah I know, I instantly checked in excitement just as I saw this post, but was a tad bit disappointed

      • typical price gauging for aussies

      • +6

Fair enough though I guess, we live fairly far way away.. It costs a lot of resources to send that data to us.

  • If anyone wants either of the L4D games I'll trade for any of the following - Vampire the Masquerade, Amnesia, Penumbra, Overlord Complete, Prototype. I just got scammed. :(

    • If you have screenshots of everything make a report on steamrep. At least that way they can get tagged on there and it might save someone later on from the same thing.

    • +2

      How did you get scammed?

Steam has a pretty good trading system now where both parties have to confirm in order to trade.

      • I'm also interested to know how you got scammed.

  • +1

    Vampire the Masquerade!!!!!!!
    Best game ever!

    • I am tempted… so many games so little time…

  • Don't forget The Walking Dead is $14.99! Hah, I bought it at full price yesterday :((

    • +1

Same sale price as the last 2 times it was on sale on Steam. Looks like no point holding out for it to get cheaper in subsequent sales, but the question is whether to buy it now or buy it at the next sales…

      • +1

If you're up for waiting, the xmas sale is just under under 2 months away.

        • Thanks for the reminder, will probably wait given I have yet to finish tons of existing games on Steam as well as Assasin's Creed II, Arkham City GOTY, and Uncharted 3 on the PS3…

        • +1

yeh, wait for xmas, n go finish those games on your ps3. they're some of the best titles on the console.

  • +1

    thx for the list

  • +1

Now all I gotta do is find out which games on sale I don't already have, lol.

  • +1

    steam sales always bring out the impulsive buyer in me ><;

    • Yeah… I once considered myself smart with my money :-(

  • +1

Don't forget Bioshock 1 & 2 for $5 each (if anyone doesn't already have them).

  • Dumb question - when does this end? Seriously tempted to buy Dead Island even though I know in my heart of heart it blows hard.

    • Dead Island was a great game if you're playing it with mates.

      • +2

Pretty shitty if you're playing solo. (still is kind of bad while playing with friends, but it's at least enjoyable that way)

        • Pretty shitty if you're playing solo.

Thanks, you just saved me $10.

        • i preordered dead island after that amazing trailer. What a load of bullcrap, literally nothing like the trailer had portrayed it to be. It was somewhat fun with friends but it was the most blatant dodgy rip-off of borderlands with a focus on melee, except take away almost everything good.

        • most blatant dodgy rip-off of borderlands

Maybe on some base level it was inspired by Borderlands, but a rip-off? That's a bit ridiculous. Not to mention Borderlands itself is inspired by the Diablo games.

        • guess it's not a blatant ripoff, but you have to admit it "borrowed" a lot from borderlands. From the way you get the quest, to the skill trees, to the way you interact with objects in the world, even the crap vehicles haha, pretty much the overall feel of the game. But seriously it's not that great of a game, maybe for $10, you'll get some fun out of it.

    • From the announcement:

Discount offers end November 1st at 10am Pacific time

    • It's not worth it, not when there are so many other good games you could be playing

  • Hey guys, wondering if left 4 dead (the first one) has a censored version? Don't want to accidentally get a censored if it is censored in AU.

    • +1

      L4D isn't censored like 2

      • but if you buy l4d2, you get the l4d1 maps and playable characters, so essentially you dont even need one!

  • I don't suppose there's a way for us aussies to get Dead Space 2 for $5? :(

    • +1

Get one of your Yank mates to gift it to you, or VPN

    • why can't we get it?

      • +1

Regional pricing, A.K.A "Aussie tax", A.K.A we get screwed over.
It's currently $17.49 on the Aussie storefront.

  • are these daily deals or the discounts that are applied now are the only discounts?

just wondering if the 50% off Dead Island GOTY is the best its gonna get

    • +1

IMO it'll just be the current selection. They usually make a point of saying, somewhere, that there'll be new deals every day (that, and there's no countdown timer).

  • Does anyone recommend Dead Rising 2?

Looks kinda fun for co-op but I'm not sure? - http://store.steampowered.com/app/45740/
    How's its replay value?

    • I bought mine for <$20 for the PS3 and regretted it. The gameplay wasn't that great (in single player mind you) and the loading took forever…YMMV since it's on the PC…

    • +2

      Yes, it's awesome!!
But most people have flocked to the newer 'reimagined version' Dead Rising 2: Off the Record which stars the protagonist of Dead Rising 1 (xbox exclusive) instead of Chuck Greene.
As for replayability, Dead Rising 2 doesn't have that much. However, DR2: OTR has more features and challenges which might keep you coming back.

      To address cap_n's issues above:
Why on earth would you only play Single Player?? Coop games are made to be played with a partner. You wouldn't play L4D alone, would you?
And loading was pretty much instant for me although it's probably because of my SSD.

A thing you should note is that Capcom rarely have their games on sale.
If you look here and click the arrow besides Dead Rising 2: http://steamsales.rhekua.com/search.php?term=dead+rising
You'll see $7.5 is the cheapest it's ever been and it's unlikely it'll go lower.

To reiterate, yes, it's definitely worth $7.50!

      • Well L4D was upfront a co-op game, even if you didn't have any friends you'd have computer players.

In DR2, there are no computer players (at least up to where I played). I never got the impression that the game was co-op only.

And in games with a standalone story, I'd expect the standalone to be worth playing.

Anyways, apart from the attrocious load times (which is only on the PS3) I guess I just prefer gunning my zombies down like in Resident Evil rather than the melee combat in DR2…

        Different strokes for different folks…

    • Yep, get it. It's pretty fun. I agree that it doesn't have a lot of replayability, but it's still fun.

      • hmmm to wait for OTR to go on sale or get this… that is the question

  • +3

Some nice games in there, but I, personally, might wait for the Holiday Sale…
Not that I need any more unplayed games in my library.

    • +2

Yeah this is what, my 8th major steam sale?

These days I sometimes pass on games I really want to play going for $4.99 because I know it'll be Christmas before I get even halfway done my bought-but-not-played-yet list, anyway.

  • +1

I got Bioshock 2, Limbo and Amnesia. $12.47US for the lot.

  • +1

Dead Space is a must buy for under $4. If you haven't played it, you need to. Be sure to have an Xbox 360 controller plugged in though.

    • but I like sleeping peacefully!
