I think you will find with taxes, the 5 stars are all above $50. I got the club suite at the Pullman in Bangkok for about $107 pn. It includes two hours of drinks, breakfast, soft drinks all day, evening canapés which are reportedly good, in suite espresso maker and in room exercise equipment options.
I was going to book a normal club room and I was offered an upgrade upon paying that was an extra $15 a night. I am quite certain that if I had selected club suite to start with, it would have been almost double the room rate to begin with for my dates. I remember this because I saw I could get a suite at the Novotel Fenix for just a little less than my club room at the Pullman. The club suite price at the Pullman was exorbitant, until I was offered the upgrade. Now I regret now going back and acting like I was booking a non-club room and seeing if they offered a cheap upgrade to the club level.
SirFlibbled on 13/11/2012 - 09:23 ¶Bugger.. last week booked 2 nights in Adelaide and 2 nights in Brisbane.. would have been half what I paid..
+1 votea lot of hotels especially during off-peak season have heavy discounts to attract travellers. but with this promotion, all the participating hotels have to revert to their regular rates, then discount the 40% or 50% on that price.
If you are staying in KL, have a look around the other hotels in the area. plenty of 5-star properties for around $100 on special.
Phoenixsun6 on 13/11/2012 - 11:33 ¶Geez these sales piss me off because they're never available for the city i will be staying in (Newcastle)
+2 votesSirFlibbled on 13/11/2012 - 13:00 ¶Probably because they assume no one actually wants to go to Newcastle :p
Phoenixsun6 on 13/11/2012 - 14:50 ¶Haha yeah, good point.. i'm only going for a wedding, so not really a top of the list australian destination for a holiday :)
Cheap Steve on 14/11/2012 - 12:09 ¶I think you will be pleasantly surprised and come back with a changed opinion about Newcastle. There has been a lot of beautification of Newy in recent times.

randomnade on 17/11/2012 - 21:37 ¶Are the prices listed already discounted? I looked it up with account/without account and they're coming up as the same for me. Is there a code I'm meant to type in? Or is it already applied? (it doesn't look like its been discounted)
randomnade on 10/12/2012 - 03:30 ¶I did, I realised some of the hotels are 30-40% off. Lucky I waited for a bit and they went to 50%!

Really cheap rooms for Bangkok most are averaging under 50 dollars for a 5 star.
Quite a good deal.
