Yeah I know, who cares about the Pentax Q when you can get larger sensor mirrorless cameras like Micro Four Thirds or the NEX systems? I myself am already heavily invested in Micro Four Thirds. But (1) this is a pretty sweet price, and (2) it seems like it's actually capable of taking some very nice looking pics at the hands of a competent shooter. I haven't done an extensive search so I don't know if this is the cheapest but the nearest price I've found is close to double the price of this. Whether or not it's good value, I'll leave that up to you. I think there's already a newer model so you might want to keep that in mind if you're thinking of getting this. EDIT: Apparently it's been discontinued. Thanks for the info shawn_low.

      apples v oranges.

      The biggest difference is going to be sensor size, the slr's you mentioned will produce better pictures in low light.

        Taking pic is not just about camera. Looking at others too much will just make you dissapointed with your results (and camera) later (unless you are a pro).

        Also, teds forget this is ozb forum. Posting lenses at RRP will not get any attentions. Make them 50% off like the camera then you wilm see same good purchases from people here.

      The real DSLRs usually have less or minimal shutter lag and also no EVF lag as you can imagine… But the Q doesn't even have a EVF tho… only the LCD at the back, manual focus can sometimes be real pain…

      Nissin Di622 would probably be the way to go $135 from dwi shipped express..not sure on the compatibility though. I'm planning just to use my sb600/bowens lights with the Q via triggers.

        I have the nissin di622 mark II. There's a newer yangnuo (spelling?) model that's similarly priced, but slightly better.
        Definitely need to check the compatibility. The flash will be larger than the pentax q though :P

    I have a silly question, is the Pentax Q Toy Lens Tele 18mm fixed focal length. I'm confused as i see the word "near" and "far" on the lens so not sure if it means i can zoom in zoom out

      I think that's the focus. Like, if you wanna focus at something nearby or far away. It might be just a manual focus lens.

      It's fixed length (100mm equiv.), manual focus, fixed aperture (of f/8) and uses the electronic shutter rather than an internal shutter to the lens - also no ND filter as per the zoom/8.5mm

        I bought better looking leather case and 8gb Sandisk Class 10 Extreme SDHC card off eBay. Total cost came to around the same price as the deal they have at Ted's, but at least its better quality.

          Looking at the fit and functionality of the two is what I'm referring to. If you look carefully at the eBay ones they have two press studs on the front lower corners that need to be undone to open the case. I think this is awkward compared to the teds case which has a single stud underneath that not only looks neater but allows faster opening and closing. Price wise they are the same. I paid $15 in store from teds, and I don't have to wait weeks for delivery.

      I picked mine up in store. The box itself doesn't have security seal/sticker etc. But the camera and contents we're factory packed. Camera does enter setup screen on first use, setup date format etc, default language was in English already

    Appreciation to the OP, I got one from earlier but really believe that Teds seems doing "first order in, last out" as I didn't get a call mine for picking up yet. only problem is this temptation led me through side-grade rather than upgrade for my camera portfolio, however, good buy for $200

    Now I am resisting myself from the lens temptation. :)

      here we are still waiting while people are just walking in grabbing them for cheaper than what we paid for them, kinda takes the shine of the original bargain. The least Teds could do is grab this available stock and ship them out to people who made online orders.

          From my understanding, you can only return for Teds credit to buy something else, I don't think you can return for a full refund…maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I thought I read on their website.

        The price was actually meant to be $200 down from $400. A coupon code was being used to get a price $189. We let it go in the first round of sales it was "not to be used in conjunction with any other offer" It was made clear when we secured more stock that the coupon code and free shipping would not apply to the next round of the deal on the Ted's website.

          Hi there. Is there any chance on an ETA for more stock (and cheaper prices) on the lenses?

          I presume many others in on this deal are like me - looking for another lens to add to the prime. I'd rather buy it from you but not at your current price. To be honest if it's going to take you a while to get stock or can't give us an idea of when you might lower the price then I will go elseware. But I want to give you the chance.

    Just got one fr store pick up $180 new in box + $10 leather case. Played for a few mins nice little cam. image is so so but luv the look. It s for the missus anyway and she luvs the cute retro look. Ted has a very good customer service. Far better compared to HN or JB imho. Well acommodating requests. Thumbs up Ted!

        Here's why ppl are begging you. You bought it for $189.90. It's irrelevant that the price drops afterwards eventhough you may not have received yours yet.

        You can ask Teds to refund/credit you the difference but you certainly don't have a "right" to either.

        Just be thankful that Teds let you have the discount code already, eventhough it was not suppose to be used in conjunction with this club Ted deal.

      I've had a minor play around with it after updating the firmware… focus peaking seems quite ok with the zoom manual focus option.

      My only complaint thus far is that the shutter button isn't stepped, but rather you push a little and then click again to take the shot… it's hard to explain but it fires off multiple shots in high speed mode without holding down the click which could be annoying…
