  • While it does indeed say it's available online, the online price at 6am this morning is still $259.

I'm very much in the market for a PS3 right now, but I'm pretty sure 12GB will not be enough. By the time you install GT5 and a couple of other games the thing is full.

    • 12gb - the space the ps3 takes off of the hdd

    • It's available now. $0.99 for delivery.

  • You can't install anything on it, you have to buy the HDD kit

You can't even buy a regular 2.5" HDD now because the 12gb version doesn't have the bracket (caddy) to fit it

IMHO find a Slim version, I bought a 120GB slim from MobileCiti brand new for $248 last month then upgraded the HDD to 1TB

I heard about this deal the other day from a friend who works there. He also said this unit will be $199 in the boxing deal sales

You can post the same thing about every deal that appears on this site. If you wait long enough everything will drop in price.

This site is really about what's available today, not about what price something will be 1 month down the track, otherwise it would we pointless posting any sort of mobile/computer/electronic deals

fair albeit obvious point. Just sharing information I got. It's always good to have options bro. Its not really the same as waiting long enough for everything to drop. I gave a date and price. its a little more definitive than just waiting in hope

I know you had good intentions.

  • Are those games only reduced for this weekend? Does anyone know?

    • +1

      Yep today and tomorrow only

  • So if I don't play any download games but just retail disc games, is this enough? Or will any retail game discs still require Internet download?

    • Most games don't play straight from the disc, I believe - especially when you consider that most of them update from PSN to the latest version, which obviously goes to the hdd. From the comments above, you need to get the external bracket and drive to even play games off the disc. Why Sony would sell something you can't even play games on, however, I don't know, so I'm not sure how accurate the above comments are.

      • So buying this 12G PS3 is basically useless regardless of buying any retail game disc, that i still will being forced to download other whatever rest of the game? this is ridiculous, what's the point having 12G for ???

        • My understanding is that 12GB is enough for gaming from retail discs, anything more and you'll need to install a HDD ( the installed 12GB is flash memory)

        • So basically you would need to keep constantly clearing the drive (per every 1-2 games installed + updates) to install/play other games?

        • OK sounds a bit trouble to do that every now and then BUT i'll just wait until xmas sale, if PS3 or xbox360 drops below $180, it will be a crime not to have one …

        • There is no drive, just the 12GB flash memory. This model is targeted at kids who are just going to play offline disc based games on it, if you want more upgrade it or buy the 500GB version

  • This was advertised in today's Saturday Herald Sun (Victoria). Listed as product and price - so it wasn't tied to any % off deal.

  • $12 for hdd bracket @ http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/ps3/ps3-hard-drive-mount…, bugger the bracket, I'll just jam some foam in there to fill the gaps! bahaha.

And I'll also wait till boxing day to grab a PS3 for $199 if it drops to that much.

  • u sure it will drop 2 $199 around boxing day sponge36?
