expired Whiskey Stones, 9 Pack - $5 Delivered (Using $10 off Voucher/Credit) @ Deals.com.au
This was posted 5 months 20 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
I thought this might make for a good stocking stuffer/kris kringle gift for a guy. No idea about the quality, but they're just rocks, so I can't see much room for error there. The idea is that you pop them in the freezer, and use the cold rocks to keep your drinks cool without diluting them with water over time.
They are priced at $15, but you can get 2x $5 credit with the following steps:
1) Create a new account, type HOMEPOPUP in the promotion field during signup. This will net you $5 credit
2) Go to http://deals.com.au/offer , and supply the email address you used for the account. This will net you another $5 (this page is confusing - it refers to $10 credit but it is actually $5 for deals.com.au, and another $5 for mytable.com.au)
(credit to -.-/sharpeye for posting the credit information previously)
Then just apply the credit at checkout. There is no need to print out a voucher unlike a lot of their other deals. If you want to buy two sets, it would be more cost effective to just make another account and place another order for a single set for delivery to the same address at checkout.
You can use a disposable email address if you don't want to be spammed by their offers; dispostable.com or mailinator.com work well.
A quick google search yielded prices of about $10-15 for similar offers so I think this is a good deal, though for a marginally useful item.

(As in number 6!) :)

+1 voteIt's just the automated message. Usually, you get a voucher which you have to print out to redeem with the restaurant/store when you arrive. In this case, you don't actually get a voucher, it says "Please enter delivery details at checkout. Your whiskey stones will be delivered to you in approximately two weeks" in the fine print. I'm pretty sure this is the case as I haven't gotten a voucher yet, and it's been two days since I ordered.

+2 votesbargdebarg on 30/11/2012 - 07:15 ¶Plus the look of scotch and ice is nicer than scotch and rock
+1 voteThey are actually supposed to be less cooling than ice.
Because Ice does two bad things to good scotch.
Waters down/dulls the scotch - especially if 5-6 ice cubes are present
Stunts/numbs the flavour of the scotch - the same principle that girls who freeze gin/vodka use, a very cold liquor is hard to taste.
But really, you don't have to abide by rules, just enjoy your scotch.
However, if someone goes pouring coke into their single malt… the whiskey god should end you.

+1 voteSteveAndBelle on 29/11/2012 - 22:55 ¶Awesome! I love my Tasmanian Whisky (Lark & NANT yum!) and funnily enough I only learnt earlier in the week that 'on the rocks' didn't have anything to do with ice but is actually cubes of chilled granite. As soon as I saw these I had to jump on them so I registered twice and bought two double-packs for $30. Awesome deal OP, thanks!
SteveAndBelle on 29/11/2012 - 23:00 ¶I'm a keen OzBargainer BUT I'm not that keen :P $7.50 per pack is fine by me!
+1 voteOk. The signup $5 could be random… I used a different browser and after clicking the link above, put in a different email address on the popup asking to join now.
Apparently this is only the email subscribe, as you havent given them a name or password for an account.
Then, immediately after, i clicked the signup link in the top-right, used the same email and entered the other info to subscribe. I noted that the box to enter a promo code was missing, but i subscribed anyway.
Checked balance of account - got $5. then went to the 'offers' page (link as per above), entered same email, and got the other $5.
I case others were having issues, this is what worked for me.

+17 votesprobably the worst attempt at being funny, and you put a lot of effort into it too, which just makes things all the more sadder.
pretending to be a femanon, or being a femanon and being so pathetic at making a joke?
oh yeah, its just men that are funny :D
(from looking at all of your prior posts, you seem to be screaming "HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT ME, IM A GAMER GURRRRL IM SUCH A NERD AND IM ON OZBARGAIN TRYING TO BE FUNNY"
in actual fact you could be that blonde bimbo that took over hosting GoodGame, although I think she be more stupid.

OMG, this Flippant person appears to be teenage caricature. Very random comments in an attempt to be funny or cute, broken english, and sass to replace intelligence. Real person…?
(yes, i realise the irony of starting a sentence with omg when referencing "teenage caricature")
+1 voteJohnny-Kun on 29/11/2012 - 23:28 ¶When I check my balance, I only have $5. Put the promo code when signing up and clicked on the link to get the extra $5.
Doesn't seem to work for me =_=
Edit: Signed up with another email and got it working, all good ^_^
+1 voteonebutters on 29/11/2012 - 23:30 ¶I've been looking for these for a while. I wouldn't mind getting these as a gift!
Hopefully they are non-porous and won't absorb pork smells from the freezer…
lukelegend on 29/11/2012 - 23:39 ¶Great xmas gift for the father in law, loves his whisky, thanks op
+2 voteschiefbodge on 30/11/2012 - 00:02 ¶Worked for me. Thanks OP :D
Cannot believe someone would pay $53 for these

winnieblues on 30/11/2012 - 00:24 ¶Thanks! How do I know they have only charged me $5? I checked the box to use the $10 credit by following the steps.
No emails with invoice or information, or even after you complete the order. I used my Woolies CC so no chance for instant updates on purchases either!
Flying Ace on 30/11/2012 - 06:55 ¶A friend of mine gave me a glass of whisky with these stones in it a few months ago. They were straight from the freezer and did an excellent job of doing nothing at all. The whisky was still just as room-temperaturish with them. No discernible cooling was taking place.
funkymonkey on 30/11/2012 - 07:13 ¶Is it real soapstone? The grain and texture looks different to the American ones.
+2 votesDerrick Crane on 30/11/2012 - 07:17 ¶I did a bit of research on these a few weeks back and the concensus was, as noted by a couple of posters here, that they are not very cold.
+3 votesLatent Heat of Fusion (Water) = 334 J/g
Specific Heat (Soapstone) = 0.98 J/gTwo orders of magnitude in the relative heat capacities - means they aren't going to hack it for bringing down and keeping your drink cool.
(Don't you wish you'd paid attention in Physics class now?)
Mind for whiskey you want a little water and you don't want it too cold. So one ice cube is fine.
Derrick Crane on 30/11/2012 - 11:05 ¶"Mind for whiskey you want a little water and you don't want it too cold. So one ice cube is fine."
Agree with the water but you have one ice cube too many. G&T is the only drink I add ice to.
"(Don't you wish you'd paid attention in Physics class now?)"
How did you know that I didn't pay attention? :-)

crazylegs03 on 30/11/2012 - 07:49 ¶Bought some stones, so I can watch my whisky glasses get scratched :(
Though at the same time, maybe I can forget about the scratches and enjoy some fine scotch.
Then again good Xmas gift for the father-in-law :) and drink his scotch and save mine for another day
pir8king1982 on 30/11/2012 - 08:36 ¶I think the creator of this product took it a bit too literally when someone asked for Scotch 'on the rocks'.
+1 voterobbiejuve on 30/11/2012 - 08:48 ¶Great except scotch should be served neat, never on ice, at least good scotch which is what is being implied by the picture. Amazing the effects of Hollywood.
+1 votenot a fan, bought some & threw them away, you can taste the stones, it's not overly strong, but it does change the flavour of the drink for the worse … maybe if you used them for a few dozen sessions … but they dont hold the cold as well as promised anyway, so i'll stick to my ice cubes, thanks!
Infraction on 30/11/2012 - 10:54 ¶I've heard mixed things about these too but i've always been curious about them, for $5 I will try them and make up my own mind :) Deal all worked first try for me, thanks OP.

I remember purchasing one set of these from 'discount' site cudo. The payment gateway was failing at the time and the page auto refreshed three times. They only refunded one amount. So @ 19 each (around four times the price as on here) I spent 40 on whiskey stones when I only wanted one set as a gift. I never want to hear of whiskey stones ever again.
+1 votewinnieblues on 16/12/2012 - 12:35 ¶haven't received mine either. regardless of when I receive mine I'll never be ordering from these guys again.
missspeckles on 17/12/2012 - 21:10 ¶Same here. I ordered 4 packs, and i have not gotten a single email or the items… they were planned for Christmas gifts.. I don't know where they are, but I am not impressed! Has anyone gotten theirs?
