        UFO. You sounds totally religious and completely offended. And yes bible can be used as encyclopedia. Since religious people have assumed that bible is "All the truth", it was assumed that the word bible contains "all or almost all". Thus cocktail bible.

        Google almost any subject + bible and you'll probably find its available on Amazon. It's a commonly used phrase to denote a "definitive guide" to a particular subject matter..

        hence "Jim Murray's Whisky Bible", "Photoshop CS5 Bible" etc etc
