I'd like to know if the card comes with a pin number / pay pass. My qantas amex gives 1.5FFpoints/dollar but I have to sign for everything so it's more of a hassle at the supermarket etc.

Anyway, all you need to do is call up and say I want a chip card and it'll be mailed to you in about 5ish days. The only hassle is that it will have a new number so if you have any auto debits you'll need to change them to your new number BUT your old number and card will still work for about 60 days.
ParaBellum on 11/12/2012 - 09:41 ¶Thanks Trav, will call them now to ask about a new card and see what's happening with the renewal fee. This one looks like a good deal, probably have to shuffle some things around but worth it for another Perth-Melbourne round trip.

Its seems just one eligible purchase is required for the 5000 bonus - although "eligible" is not defined.

What are 'eligible purchases'?
Eligible purchases means the purchase of every day goods or services from merchants accepting your Credit Card (including GST payable for those goods or services by you) and excluding the ineligible transactions listed below.
What's an ineligible purchase?
Balance transfers
Cash advances
Special promotions
Purchases of foreign currency or traveller’s cheques
Business Expenses
BPAY transactions
Any fee or charge, including any government charges or duties and any fee or charge for your membership of and participation in the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program
Interest and finance charges payable or paid on your Card Account
Enforcement expenses
Transactions which are disputed, fraudulent or involve the abuse or unauthorised use of your QSCU Visa Platinum Credit Card
Payments and purchases which are refunded or reimbursed; and
Payments made by you to other QSCU loan accounts.

-1 voteThey wanted you to close both? I can understand that their credit assessment might be that the new card should not be in addition to the existing cards but to replace one of them. If they required closing of both then that sounds a bit strange on the surface of it.

Discussed at length here:

I applied for this a couple of weeks ago for the points.. they are a credit union, so they are pretty old school when it comes to documentation - you'll need to send in 3 months of bank statements, mortgage statements etc. which is a bit of a hassle compared to the fully online applications of the banks..

I got this card earlier in the year with the same deal.
No problems signing up, although it took a while with all the checks/documentation and membership requirements.
They wanted me to decrease the limit on my Amex which I could do online and was happy to do.Nearly got all of my points now - last set of 5000 comes in this month.
Just make sure you use it regularly and there's no problem.
Easy card which will be cancelled in Q2 next year to avoid annual fee after raking in ~40K free points (including purchases)

Annual fee of $195 is a killer for it
The 30000 points would be chewed up in next years fees and still probably not enough
