    Tell 'em the price, son!

    (Price in heading please)

  • This is almost a Dupe now.

the offers that BloodSailAdmiral posted are all open again.

  • damn cheap now i wonder if 7.7 tab was a better buy than this 10.1, just $10 more

    • The Toshiba 10.1 is ridiculously heavy at 750g. The 7.7 has a better screen too. If you don't need the screen size, the 7.7 is definitely better.

      • i see. yeah i have ipad for big screen, and cant afford ipad mini for missus haha too bad tab doesnt have hdmi (need to buy dock)

        • +2

Make sure you install the ICS update (it'll prompt you)… it's much zippier than honeycomb.

        • So can you confirm there is an official ICS for the Toshiba?

        • i think what eug means is galaxy tab 7.7 not toshie.

eug: you mean first time i connect it internet it will tell me to update? wow cool…
i still can root it once its on ICS, right? there is JB rom on xda but still beta

        • It does have ICS just make sure to do a factory reset after the update.. also can get JB in the future "maybe"

    • I would prefer the 7.7 for portability, but it is still advertised (post Mondays sale) at $388.

I went with the Xoom, as it has a manufacturers plan to rollout Android 4.0.
Not so with the Toshiba, unless you root it.

    • Where is the 7" for $218? Link?

      • You missed it. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 was $198 on monday.

  • anyone got an opinion on the 16g toshie vs Xoom?
Just after something simple for the oldies to skype on & browse (via wifi)

    • Dunno about the Toshiba, but the original Xoom's screen was pretty washed out. It was solid like a brick though, and nearly weighed as much as one. :)

    • The Toshiba has a poor screen according to c|Net and no development on xda (locked bootloader possibly?)
The Moto has MicroSD and xda developers (ie Jelly Bean ROMS)

EDIT: there is xda support for the Toshiba
As a result, with the HDMI and Full size USB, it's tempting me at that price!

      EDIT2: No there's not!!
But there are ROMS out there

      • Where do we get these Roms?

        • +1

          Google it yourself!
          It's really easy.
PS: the above might sound blunt, but it's what anyone else would be doing to get you the link!

Xoom is much better than the Toshiba. Look for instructions on how to make your Xoom think its a US unit, and you can update it to official JB ROM, right away.

  • Still can't purchase more than 1 unit at a time …

  • I said this in the other deal, but that Toshiba is really thick. This enables it to use full-size USB and HDMI, so it may come down to preference.
You need to see a picture of it on its side before purchasing

  • Had my Xoom since Christmas last year and absolutely love it. Rooted running JB however the Xoom will be not getting anymore official updates but Team EOS is still making them.

Handles everything I throw at it and is great for watching TV shows on the train. At $188 it is a steal in my opinion.

    • wow.. cool with JB rom but all functions features (wifi bt etc etc) are works fine?

      • It's an official JB ROM, so all functions work fine.

      • Yes everything works fine.

  • Xoom looks sold out to me :-(

At this price it's ok. It is however, the ugliest of all the name-brand units for sale. Even the smaller 7” unit felt much better in hand, than this 10.1” device.

The rubber back makes the unit easy to hold, but is very flexible. The grooves in the rubber attract dust, etc. easily.

The unit itself is thick, and the plastic build makes it feel cheap.

The screen is quite underwhelming. Lack of brightness, clarity, or wide-viewing angles was an annoyance.

I don’t know what they are like with software updates now (owned mine 15 months ago), but I had to drop it in overnight, to the Perth Toshiba service centre, for them to upgrade it from Android 3.0 to 3.2

It took three units, to get a stable device. The screen on the first unit developed green vertical lines after a week. The second unit’s USB port was dead. The third unit worked ok, but by then I was over it, and sold it.

Overall it felt like they rushed designing this unit.

They seemed to get it mostly right, with their later offerings (AT200, wtc.)

It does have a full-side USB, HDMI, removable battery (RRP $79), and SD-card slot. Still too many nagatives to outweigh the positives.

  • Nothing beat that deal for months
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/79665

    • The Thinkpad Tablet feels quite underwhelming though. I prefer using my SGT 7.7 -it feels much zippier, the screen is waaaay better, and it doesn't weigh a ton.

I bought the 16GB one on Monday, and all I can say is that regardless of the negative points, $168 was a great price for a decent tablet with 3G support, along with a host of full size ports.

$208 is still a good price for this one. At the time I wasn't going to pay an extra $40 for 16GB storage, but given that the 16GB is sold out I still think this is worth going for.

  • The Xoom 2 is back on at $268 as well. Any comments on how it compares to the Xoom 2 or the Toshiba?

  • +2

they are selling too many used devices. is ebgames like a pawn shop or cash converter?

  • And the Xoom is back at $188 as well. Purely for parents travel, what do people suggest. They have a 4g wireless dongle and have tried a 7" and say its too small.

    • The Xoom is out of stock now, so you can strike that off your list!
Get the Xoom 2! Better screen, much lighter, and 3G is built in so they only have one thing to charge.

      • Haha, the Xoom keeps jumping back and forth for stock. Xoom 2 does seem better overall, ie micro usb charging. 3g not a huge plus for us. The weight is definitely a plus. But no official JB update. And as the price gets up, i can see newer tablets coming into range. A Nexus 10 once available in store might only be another $150.

        • +1

Ahh true, $188 is close-eyes-and-buy territory. At $268, you'll have one eye open at least.

I just ordered the nexus 10, I sure hope it gets here before I leave next week.

        • -1

It depends on how quickly the imps at the warehouse, can repackage the used units. :)

        • How did u oder a Nexus 10 when its sold out Everywhere even on the google shop!

        • +2

No where does it say any of the Xoom or Toshiba tablets are used. Only on the ipads that are refurbished.

And i didn't order a Nexus 10, just saying that it is my current choice should I pay a normal price. And Nexus 10's were available for ages, especially 16gig ones. I got my 2 N4 16gb when they only lasted 22 mins, just wanted to wait and get the 10 from a retail shop so can bargain. I'm in no rush.

        • Mobicity has the Nexus 10 in stock. They cost a bit more ($508 vs $489), but they accept trade-ins so I figured if I traded in all my ancient Nokia phones which would eventually end up in the bin anyway, it'll make it at least the same price if not cheaper than from the play store.

The webpages clearly say "New" for both.

        • no, but some people reported that they received used/demo unit on the deal few months ago.

        • where is the link..

        • its $499.00 now for the nexus 10

  • Mainsail , good job.

  • Bought the 16GB model, great price for a decent tab comparable to iPad 2

  • lapy king has dock for $38 delivered, ebay has car chargers for $20 & folio type cover with keyb for $23. no spare batts anywhere…

  • Just to let you know all, The deal is still active.

  • Commenting here so that I can find this post at a later date….trying to compile a list of heavily discounted tablets as research :)

    • That's a good idea, share the list with us later. Thanks in advance.
