+6 votesTags come off so micro-chipping is highly recommended… quick and relatively painless (its a needle) none of my pets have ever had as much as a whimper when they had theirs put in.
For the tag the pets name and a phone number will get them back to you most of the time… or they will take them to the local vet and the vet will ring after scanner the microchip…. I know this as I had a beagle who like to do the runner as he never adjusted to our suburban 600mSq block after living on a 800 hectare farm.

Having these without also having name/phone number contact details on them is pretty useless, because that little old lady who finds your pet isn't going to have a smart phone with QR code scanning software on it
