annoynimous on 26/12/2012 - 12:49 ¶still rocking my s2 from shoppingexpress pricing error, it's all good till nexus 4 comes around :p
+1 voteinherentchoice on 28/12/2012 - 10:22 ¶Haha I can't tell if you're saying "Google" as a noun or a verb. In this context, both are correct lol.

This vs the Nexus 4

CyberGenesys on 26/12/2012 - 14:14 ¶I am of the same opinion (plus I hate Samsung phones, they have an odd colour to the screens amongst other things http://www.ibtimes.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-sudden-death-proble...).
The only thing holding me back is the camera which apparently is so-so.

Very good price if you're in the market for an Android phone. This would've been on par with the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3. Personally it's not for me, but I'd recommend it to others. The Nexus 4 is good but it's hard to purchase now and I think it's for those who are interested in the Vanilla GUI.
hamwhisperer on 26/12/2012 - 14:21 ¶LG's next phone is the first of the 5" 1920x1080 displays if I recall - but I'm not sure they are a big enough player for me to consider switching from Samsung or HTC. I wish them luck though - I'd like to see at least 3 big guys (not counting Google here)
ratsackgamer on 26/12/2012 - 14:21 ¶So this will work on either 850MHz (Telstra) or 900MHz (Optus) for 3G?
I just dropped my phone in a pool about an hour ago, it's currently in a container of rice but I don't like my chances. I need one that'll work on both Telstra Next-G or Optus 3G.

+3 votesCyberGenesys on 26/12/2012 - 15:56 ¶I disagree. I have an LG L7 P705 which is quite a low end phone. Hardware is very nice and it has one of the best stock roms on a phone I have ever used (including rooted and custom). All of the crappy bloatware from Optus could simply be uninstalled. Previous phones were HTC which I was very disappointed with. I have received ~5+ minor updates in the 6 months I have had it.
I think people are getting a bit carried away with being the latest and greatest.

How about this deal for the Sony Xperia S? Similar specs and cheaper;
http://www.becextech.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?product...

Dual core only and no Micro SD…It's almost a year old now.
Having said that, for under $300 it's fantastic value, the Xperia S is a great device. The screen is amazing (Sony Bravia 342 ppi). 32GB internal storage and USB OTG help compensate for the lack of Micro SD. It's also good to have a separate port for HDMI out, so you can charge at the same time - most devices such as the LG Optimus have HDMI via the Micro USB port. I find it very useful when travelling for work, using hotel LCD TV screen with phone as media player, or as a gaming system with emulators and a sixaxis controller. 12 megapixel camera is also very good and battery life is good for a smartphone. Plus I like the size, newer phones are getting a little too big for me.
+2 votesthe xperia ion (bigger screen and microsd version of the S) is $356.95 delivered from cotd —> http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_... and this is aussie stock
that is a better deal than the becextech one for the S delivered

yeah… locked bootloader = badluck! xda users are hoping for an unlock from LG.. but judging from the way they (don't) support their products, in particular, the p990.. they'll be waiting a heck of a while. the P990 was promised an ICS update last year.. it has only come now. and even then it's still not available for Australia

Seems to be a way to root the device here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29868577
or am I missing something? I'm relatively new to rooting and custom ROM's so I could be wrong but thought I'd share what I found.
+1 voteIn terms of hardware it is much better then S2. In terms of software, well S2 would have more support from custom roms and the community for support is much bigger so depends what is more important to you.
if you kept both phone stock, this phone be better then the S2 :)
inherentchoice on 28/12/2012 - 10:23 ¶The link is to the Black model but there is also white. Which to get, white or black?
Johnsen_Co on 08/01/2013 - 20:47 ¶Mine came today homer.
Only received the tracking email yesterday.
So far so good.

i have Lg http://www.mp3.sk/akcia-lg-p880-optimus-4xhd-16gb-android-os... How did you get to the software upgrade mode? I tried following the instructions, but it only gets me to the recovery mode.
inherentchoice on 09/01/2013 - 14:33 ¶Got mine finally. Now the internet is not working. Am I missing something? Do I need to configure it? Help?
+1 voteinherentchoice on 09/01/2013 - 15:50 ¶Haha so simple. Never had to do that before as the best phone I ever had is a nokia brick.
+1 voteJayteewoofed on 11/01/2013 - 09:33 ¶Mine arrived DOA today.
Phone is broken and showing flickering lines.
Calling Kogan right now 45 minute wait.
A long and frustrating replacement process ahead.
FML.Worst customer service.
