Buffalo MiniStation 2.5" USB3.0 - 1TB HD-PCT1TU3/B-AP
14mm thick drive as states on the side box… (avoid the larger thicker 17mm or 19mm ones)
Centrecom Website out of stock…
However there were heaps at my local store… about half gone by the end of Saturday…
..
Using Crystaldisk info model number of the drive is a WD10JPVT-00A1YT0
Using my finger nails only.. I mamnaged to pry the case open.. (breaking a few plastic tabs (by being careless) and confirm the model and size and the presence of a USB adaptor board..

I haven't removed the warranty void stickers however…
Would make a very cheap upgrade for a notebook or PS3 / hacked (RGH/JTag) xbox 360..

+1 voteI've avoided the Nunawading Store where possible… I always smelt trouble there
The Hawthorn and Clayton stores have usually treated me well.. most of the time..
Had a logitech keyboard DOA out of the box on me.. (dodgy left mouse button).. the sales assistent wanted to RMA it.. I wasn't happy… a quick word from the manager and all was sorted out… and I walked out with a replacement…

Of the staff there I have only spoken to 1 who actually sounds enthusiastic. Sure IT can be a soul sapping job, but a little bit of enthusiasm goes a long way to making the customer feel appreciated.
If the staff are unwilling to help or are uninterested, I may as well buy online, and just on principle, from another store.

Why bother posting it??

Saw the toshiba cavvios which have since sold out at hawthorn…. I,ve bought one previously only to find a 12.5mm drive… The new ones might be different … But its a risk
I think there there was lso anpther brand for the same cash … .hitachi touro?
For me having a wd blue scorpio is the deal maker….

Shopping Express still selling them for $79. Here is the link .
http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/buffalo-ministation-1t...
The punt is in the dimensions… the Shopping express is listed at 17mm thick indicating the 12.5mm drive inside… you may get lucky….and get a 14mm..
Whereas buying in store you can physically see the listed dimensions on the ouside of the box.. (in may case.. listed at 14mm.. incidating the 9.5mm standard notebook size drive inside…
annoynimous on 29/12/2012 - 21:33 ¶have bought this a few months back, it's really good for size and portability, can't comment on reliability yet… says Japan no.1 but made in China so….
manbearpig on 30/12/2012 - 00:15 ¶"says Japan no.1 but made in China so….", so…what? Buffalo is a Japanese computer hardware company, and yes, they are big in Japan.
