+1 voteI don't really trust quality of ZTE phone. The ZTE T22 from JBhifi deal is absolute crap, screen quality is sub-standard, even white text is blueish on screen. It lags like hell.
If you guys buy this from Coles Southland today, you still can use the $5 voucher :)

According to this review, it also comes with $10 credit and 2GB MicroSD card.

The Coles LG optimus spirit phone deal, you could unlock through a seller on ebay. But this one, there isn't any such listing on ebay.
On this link - http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f272/zte-t12-unlock-1572676/... the guy said he was able to unlock it, but doesn't say how?

I wonder if this would work?

I just got one of these phones/not bad for the price/I tried to unlock it via this website http://www.wintechmobiles.com/tools/zte-unlock-code-calculat... didn't work. Has anyone got any more ideas on how to unlock it(I use optus) without having to pay Telstra? any help appreciated.

looks like you can use MTKReader, with the different drivers as discussed in this post.
arescarti42 on 09/01/2013 - 13:06 ¶I bought one of these a day or two ago to play around with and it's a phenomenal device for $29. I've been using it as a Spotify player and a wireless IP camera, it does an excellent job.
It'd be even more useful if someone figures out how to unlock it.
johneliot1978 on 16/01/2013 - 12:08 ¶Anyone tied this guys service? he is in WA and now has a service for $25 remote unlock
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bayswater/computer-telecom-fr...His advert used to offering unlock, but you had to post the phone to him (presumably he was using MTKReader?)

Can't imagine what he is using now???
I have tried one other online unlock service, which couldn't generate a code from the IMEI number, so a bit sus on remote unlocks now….

Has anyone tried this site for $15USD?
Apparently associated with FG team. Surely the iDroid guys, presumably using the same software, could do a better deal for us OzBargainers though…

I just tried the website one unlock.com (oneunlock@gmail.com) listed by cheapMic. Worked a treat first time. Very easy to organize. Just give your IMEI and pay via Paypal($14.80Au) and about 2 hr's later I got email with correct code. Very happy with result. Now I have an unlocked android phone for $29.(plus $15) I went into Telstra this afternoon to ask how much to unlock and they quoted $120.$150 or wait 2 years!!
Thanks to everyone who kept the conversation going
I used the Paypal free $10 credit to buy unlock code from this guy:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261159643441?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN...The code came straight away, so from $15, down to $5! The code has now expired but if you want to pay $15, and want to be guaranteed a working code, go for it!

YYY provided me with a working code for less than a two hours ( Thank you !). Now I have a working with Live connected (Optus) ZTE T12. Apart from the use as a phone - calls and Bluetooth connecting to car radios (at work) I am using the Skype and Nonoh (voip calls) to call friends around the world. I have to drive to and from work for 40 mins each direction. A good time to catch up with friends who are awake at that time. Up until now I was using a small laptop connected to my car radio. I was surprised how this phone is handling the communication apps with much less drop-outs than the mobile modem. Connected by Bluetooth to the car radio the sound is loud and clear and because of the Android OS it uses ten times less data. After the battery was conditioned ( three times charging and fast discharging) now it lasts much longer. There are a spots of no connectivity to the internet I have to admit but as a phone it is still working there. A good communication device.

A fellow ozbee can also unlock this for you.
It was really easy to do.
I am very happy to get rid of that stupid lock!
