Try typing into Check store stock box 4301 or 4558. Just because there is no stock near you doesn't mean there is no stock. Please find a cheaper deal link to it and then neg

    • For once it's showing stock in Perth, just gotta get in quick

      • I bought one from garden city yesterday, they said they had heaps. Called claremont too and as of yesterday mid-morning they had 5+ from memory.

There's no stock left anywhere on this deal. It's been passed around for a few days now.

    • So is this a dupe?? Link??

      • the comments to the 160gb slim version identifies this deal, i don't think it would count as a dupe

    • +1

Also My store shows out of stock online but they had two in stock in the actual store

      • +2

I was told by a DSE Manager that stores have low stock as they have the store demo model listed, and in their store they couldn't even find it. Pinched by an employee most likely. The time you'll waste on this deal makes it unprofitable.

        • -5

Just call 6 of your nearest stores when they open. Less time than whinging on a forum

  • for Perth type in 6112

    • livingston, garden city and claremont quarter have stock

  • just ordered one and then "no stock" in my local store

  • Glendale NSW has them in stock.

  • A few near the gold coast…

  • Good price and good luck locking down one.

  • And nambour

    • Thanx for tip about nambour. We r holidaying at caloundra so it's apparently less than a km from where we are. Ordered one.

  • See http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89638 - this was spotted days ago and sold out relatively instantly like the 160GB model. Very few, if any, remain.

    • -1

Yawn. There appears to be lots of stock in Perth and brisbane and I assume other places. So thanks for your comment

      • No stock in Brisbane

        • -1

          Try postcodes 4000, 4032, 4305

          Showing stock for me

        • 4032 = Chermisde = Out of Stock
4000 = Brisbane CBD = Low Stock (call shop) = Out of Stock
          4305 = Ipswich/ Springfield = In Stock
Like I said there is no stock in Brisbane shops.

  • Not sure if its worth upgrading from my fat when the ps4 is rumoured to be out around christmas 2013….hmmmm decisions decisions…..

    • +1

You're dreaming son, not enough time to hype it up. Even then are you likely going to pay the $700 (rough estimate) launch price?

      • +1

Plus there's rumors that the PS4 will not be backwards compatible due to the PS3 having complicated architecture.

        • If they used a mini itx motherboard, AMD/Intel CPU, pcie graphics card, DDR3, ps2 power supply and made it upgradable and used Linux as the operating system I would buy it :P. I mean why not? too easy for pirates probably.

    • If your fat one is still working fine, I don't see why you need to 'upgrade'.

PS2 has just been discontinued in Japan only recently.
Even if PS4 comes out, there's still going to be new games and continued support for PS3 for years to come.

Bribie Island HAD one yesterday and I was told it was never used, just sitting in the cabinet on display, returned it this morning. It was sold, returned as faulty, repaired and put on display. Load of crap.

    • Yep, can confirm Bribie had two 320GB last night. I made them open both so I could have a look if they were new. The ones she showed me looked new (cables still packaged and tied how they do it from factory).
      I only bought one though.

Maroochydore had one 320GB at lunchtime yesterday even though their website showed out of stock.

      • Yeah, one of them would have been mine haha, they have 2 left now I rang today as I was curious, one was a repaired one and one was a ex-display. She still wanted the same price for them.

I'm assuming you got the manager Wendy too?

        • Spoke to some older lady with blonde hair. Helpful.
The one I bought is definitely new, turned it on and I had to set up everything where as the used stock already has an account created I believe.

  • I saw this deal around 8:30 PM

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89498

and placed the order online via 'CLICK AND COLLECT'

When I went to store (CANNINGTON, cnr Albany Hwy and Wharf St) other day, price was changed to $248.

I gave them order confirmation receipt. Girl she bought the camera and scanned it and asked for $248.

I said I booked this @ $158, then she said 'CLICK and COLLECT' only reserves your item, not the price. You should have come yesterday only. I told her that I got the message this morning but she was stuck on $248.

I talked to store manager and then after 5-10 mins, he did $158.

Has anyone had this sort of issue before??

    • Sonu, You can refer them to the terms and conditions of the their website (below), see Section 3. Placing and order

You might be able to argue that in selecting click and collect is a effectively placing an order. Hence the price is at the time you place the order.

I also have had the reverse situation where by the time I collected the item, it was at a cheaper price so they gave it to me at the cheaper price. Guess you sometimes can have it both ways. It's win win really because they get a sale and you pay for it at a price you are happy with.

      http://dicksmith.com.au/help/terms-and-conditions-content#3

      • The terms state that you make an "offer" at the price it's shown at on the website. That doesn't mean a "contract" has been made that only means they can accept the offer. Only once you and the company exchange money or promises does the contract actually take place. If they were "offering" the item at that price and you exchange your "promise" to purchase it that would make a "contract" but since you've only made an "offer" that leaves them open to "accept" it. Only once that has happened will a "contract" become binding on both parties.

Look at all the negging going on

    • +1

neg neg neg neg neg neggin!

  • Brighton VIC have stock

  • There's still 3 left at colonnades. I'm guessing the reason why is that they still had the price tag that says $348 so people didn't buy it

  • Try to call Bankstown to pick up my click & collect X box 360 with Kinect order, phoned whole day yesterday, engaged all the time. Finally got it thru today, been told " can't find it, mate!" Asked what can I do, " can't find it, mate!" .

  • If someone still wants one from tweed heads, please pm me. It's too far for me to collect it today.

By the way, Ipswich has a display (a shop assistant claimed it's never been played, just sit on the shelve)

  • Can the PS3 play video files from USB? Also, can the HDD be upgraded?

    • Yes and yes. USB external drive has to be formatted in FAT32 though.

    • Yes but it's limited by format, I never got much to play on it. The PS3 can also stream from a program called PS3 Media Server however it is only wireless G capable which means standard definition only, this seemed to be the best option for me but I wasn't ever really happy with it, my Wii streams better and supports more formats after I softmodded it and installed mplayer ce.

I have to say though that the PS3 can play High Definition from USB/DVD though which is more suited to most people who just rent Blu-Rays and/or rip them using something like DVD Fab HD Decrypter. I just like using my Wii because it's more suited to streaming over WiFi.

  • thanks, OP
    got one from local DSE.
any suggestion on what to buy next?
    any good games? any controllor?

    • +1

Cheap games at this place. Use discount code "2013" for a 13% discount. You'd have to check if it's still valid because I've already used it yesterday, and you can only use it once, so I can't check if it's still working.

Better go back to DS to find some games before they sold out :) most games are around $20 to $40

    • +1

      thank you all
i grabbed modern warfare 3 (.$30) and unchartered 3 ($20) from DSE. And brought the infamous 1&2 with one dual shock controller from ozgame short.

  • +1

just picked one up from morwell dse in vic. they had 2 in stock. well 1 left now.

  • +1

Went into DSE in "Top Ryde" and they tried to offer me their 1 year old shop demo unit for $228. There was no controller or cables for it. Declined and went to Big W

They price matched DSE and using the old "Employee Card" i got a box fresh one for $216.60. This was their last unit

I am now having 2nd thoughts about why i need a PS3 so if anybody missed out on this deal and is in Sydney drop me a message and you can have it for what I paid

Oh and i might add this site is fantastic and i have been a lurking for some time enjoying the hidden deals

    • Hey there.. Was wondering what firmware it is and what version of the ps3?? Slim 2000?? Slim 3000??

  • I got one today from st Ives , nsw, but found not as entertaining as I thought, so anyone still looking for this deal can leave me a msg and collect for the deal price.

    • hi there, is this still available?
      cheers

  • What's the deal with the two one-post-wonders selling PS3's?

  • With this post I become 2 post wonderful.

On a serious note the reason for my offer was that I was caught up in the thrill of getting the bargain before engaging the brain on if I needed it.

Now if I had been adding a eBay/gumtree tax to it then feel free to neg away.

Oh and as stated before there was a 5% discount on top so is this a new bargain in its own right?

    • Too bad you're in NSW otherwise I'd be interested to grab it from you…

    • I'm not negging, it's just unusual.

  • I have been browsing this site for awhile and was looking for a PS3. Just missed out on the 160GB model by 30 mins according to DS in Morley.

I managed to order one clicke and collect on Thursday night; the manager rang me Fri morning to say that the box seal jad been opened but the system never used - was this ok? I said sure I will come that afternoon and ceck it out (after seeing previous posts I was a little put off). He said no hurry we will hold it for 2 days.

Busy couple of days, thought I had lost it but rang Sunday anyway to check; it was still held for me. Went in and the sales guy said he was spewing because he tried to get one but they had all gone - he one I was getting was the only one that hadden been used as display. Checked the system and brand new. Very happy and impressed by DS in Maddington.
