I'm addicted though, so bought these to make do until my eBay replacement arrives! ($16.50 delivered, so these work out $1.50ea cheaper than eBay)
They look the same, so hopefully I can scavenge parts from the old one as required.

+1 voteabandc2003 on 07/01/2013 - 10:24 ¶Adelaide shop (Gawler Place) had a few of these in stock on Saturday.
justtoreply on 07/01/2013 - 11:04 ¶If its anything like the ones I got, they are uncontrollable even with trim. Of course, maybe they hit something and broke. But you're going to do that immediately anyway so….
Good luck!
+1 voteI saw these the other day in store. Not sure what the price was then. I'd rather have one good one that's durable and able to be controlled reasonably well (with some skill required after a learning curve) than two that aren't that great. Anyone know the quality of these Swann units?
+2 votesHi guys, if anyone can recommend a cheap helicopter (besides a $400 quadracopter) ive got a Sony action cam, weighs about 68grams, so would want it to lift that, rather indoor as i know one fart from the dog will send thi sone flying and won't be able to lift it. Just a side note, I bought these before, gave them to kids and they loved them. I just want something with a little more POWAR!!!!

+2 votesBought a set on Saturday and have been reasonably impressed with them.
Comes with a USB charger for both which I thought was good. We've crashed them into each other a few times and hit other obstacles many times and theyve come up fine. Build seems to be of a reasonably high quality.Minor annoyance was that you have to turn them on in separate rooms or they both seem to sync to one controller which is less than ideal!
There was a dozen or so at TTP (SA) on Saturday - scattered around the store (at least 3 different places)
+1 voteP.s. After reading the manual here http://www.swann.com/webfiles/download/1965Air_Dual_MARDUEL0...
apparently there is a sort of pairing(A/B frequency select) so you can operate up to 2 of them in the same room at the same time

scubacoles on 08/01/2013 - 07:25 ¶Yes there are 2 controllers and the controllers have 2 channels so you can fly both heli's in the same room without issue (all it takes is the tiniest bit of common sense, or lacking that, reading the manual to find this out, clearly Prongs has neither common sense, nor has he/she read the manual, which is surprisingly well constructed!)
The Heli's pair to an active controller when they are turned on, so you need to turn them on individually, otherwise they might pair to the same controller!
Now having thought of that, it sounds like an awesome idea… I'm going to try synchronised flying tonight!!!
strangeloops66 on 08/01/2013 - 17:32 ¶The problem with common sense is that it is not so common.

+2 votesI bought this package for the kids last XMas, heaps of fun. Anything that keeps them off the PS3 has to be good! Indoor only. Comes with a little bit of cardboard with a Helicopter landing pad printed on it. We had great fun trying to leave the landing pad in 'difficult to land' places like on a bookshelf etc and then seeing who could land on it. Ours have lasted pretty well. 1 is still in great shape, my younger son's one has taken more of a beating and the motor sounds a bit dodgy and one of the stabilising fins has broken off but it seems to still run OK.
jellymelly on 08/01/2013 - 09:19 ¶Just saw this missile helicopter on DS website. It looks really fun but does it hold up well? In my past experience these helicopters break with one hit on hard furniture…
+1 votescubacoles on 08/01/2013 - 07:26 ¶The batteries will probably be worse for wear (or misuse in this case) by Christmas next year
+1 voteOne box contains 2 RC Helicopters

+1 votetomleonhart on 07/01/2013 - 22:19 ¶bought 1 today, great fun. Scared the shit out of my little doggy. hehe i know i'm going to hell for that :)
scubacoles on 08/01/2013 - 07:29 ¶It appears that they keep going until they crash or the battery runs dry!
I flew mine outside yesterday and the wind caught it while at full throttle… Although I tried to down-throttle, it remained at full speed and would have ended up in the neighbours yard but for hitting the gutter of the shed!

Well that didn't last long. One of them is refusing to pair with either controller on either band now. I really wish they just put a selector switch on the unit to use band A or B instead of doing auto pairing.
I'm giving it a charge to see if that helps if not I'll have to take them back.
+1 votepicked mine up tonight - bought the last one in Stafford store (city sold out) using click and collect yesterday - anyhow uses 6 AA batteries in each controller which charges the choppers - so DSE sold me 40 AA batteries to go with! anyway I asked for a deal and got the 40 pack of AAs for $18.50 instead of $25 :) OzB rules!

I got it yesterday from DS Moonee ponds shopping center and charge them directly through USB.
I find the charging time is less than 45 minutes? according to manual, once the USB connection light switched on, the charge is complete…is that true?
Been playing both copters since yesterday;
Hit furniture, carpet floor, wife's leg (yes… it was bit of drama, but I managed to wing it hehe) and Christmas tree; and the copter still flying, great stuff!!!
+1 votescubacoles on 17/01/2013 - 13:53 ¶This thread's probably dead, but it appears to me that these Swann brand helis are Syma S107's in a Swann box. The circuit board is printed with S107 and they are Very good quality units.

Bought a "genuine" Syma chopper for $22 a couple of months ago. The thing lasted for a week or so, with dubious authenticity as well.
The above deal would be heaps good as it's about the same price, and you get to have two of them. I'll pick one up if I come across them.
