      Or in the post, even.

      $349 ?
It is in the title "Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 3GB OC Graphics Card $349.00 + Shipping Max $9.95 Aus Wide"

  • +1

You had me there for a moment. I thought the graphics card + shipping is $9.95.

  • Hmmmm to x-fire or not to x-fire …

    • Have they fixed that micro-stutter issue yet? If not, I wouldn't bother.

      • I've had x-fire on 7970 since day one, No micro stutter,

  • wow great price. Does anyone know if it comes with the never settle bundle?

    • Some stores do not participate in it, so you will need to call.

    • -1

      Never settle is XFX only!

  • Delivery is $6.95! Combine with other capped items and pay a maximum of $9.95 Aus Wide.

  • I was going to get a Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card is this the next model up?
worth the extra 50? The 7950 was $329@PCCG so is this card (7970) a big improvement over the 7950? Mainly for games/ photoshop or not noticible enough to bother?

    • +1

I have the Gigabyte 7950 OC, with overclocking I believe it nears the 7970 performance unless using dual screens, and the 7970 is noisier when idle so decided to stick with the 7950.

    • +3

for $30, I'll definitely go with 7970. plus this is the oc version, and gigabyte cards normally have decent oc ability.

  • good price, only issue with these cards is they are voltage locked - pity as the 7970's are apparently beasts when it comes to overclocking

    • Are you sure about that? The review I read said you can easily up the voltage to hit 1200Mhz core memory clock speeds when OCing.

  • +2

Was about to lay down $320 on a 7950 $355 for the 7970 is awesome
    Lucky I checked OzB today.

I expect a bios hack should be able to unlock the card anyway

    Cheers OP

    • I've seen one around for the Gigabyte but not sure how reliable it is.

  • I'd buy at this price, just not big enough performance increase over my 5870-5970 setup at the moment.

  • +1

Was looking at buying the Gigabyte 7950, saw this, and bought it. Great deal, thanks a bunch.

  • Does anyone know if the Dealfox cashback offer works since Dealfox and eSold merged?

  • I like the cooling fans on these style Gigabyte graphics cards, though i dont like the way the seem to fail.

I have had three cards from them recently and they have all failed before, or shortly after warranty. This is just my experience, other people might find them more reliable. Though my dad found the same problem.

Either way, decent price, nice post.

    • Very unlucky Oxxy. You must have been one of the few people who had THREE cards fail on him.

My experience (and reading lots of blogs and forums stating other people's experiences) shows these cards to be very reliable.

  • Shipping was $7 for me to Perth.

  • I've got one of these at the moment. works great :D

for the nerds these cards might be voltage locked if they are not revision 1.0 if you plan to overclock

  • I bought my 7950 OC last month for ~$320, which came with the Never Settle bundle, which I on-sold for $70.

I too was tempted by the 7970 (albeit for a greater price listed than this post), but the retailer wasn't participating in the Never Settle promotion.

As a FT uni student, I'm a casual gamer, so I went for the $250 7950OC (vs. $350/$380 7970OC). Each to their own.

    • The only place I could find the Never Settle Bundle (in Perth) is with XFX. $320 for 7950 with horrible cooling possibly worse than reference, $360 for 7950 with decent cooling or $420 for 7970 with average cooling.
I did see it somewhere else but the shipping to Perth was around $25…

Most places don't advertise them. I bought a 7950 from megabuy last month, and received the never settle bundle.

The never settle bundle stuff is available to every retailer through their suppliers, so you should just be able to ask them for it.

  • Highly recommend this. Just bought one@355 delivered. I almost died the other time when I saw this on another bargain at the same price but ran out of stock. :( after some more snooping around on this current site, I found a 7970 going for 299!! How have I not heard about this site before?!

    • One of us! One of us! One of us!

  • Hmm debating if it's worth upgrading from a 7870… probably not. Might wait for nextgen.

    • Yeah you should wait. This is definitely more for people with a card from 2010 or 2011 that want to upgrade.

  • +1

Amazing deal, these are going for $400 in the US, so for local prices to be this low is always nice.

  • +1

    Site is showing sold out

  • Yep gone. Do they ever restock?

  • Bought it.

What do I need to know for my computer to be compatible with it?

    I'm running:

    Intel MOBO
    i7 920 processor
    8GM ram

~ has one x16 PCI slot

    I'm not sure it'll fit but we'll see :)

    • +2

Your board is compatible with the graphics card.

However you need to measure your case and ensure you have about 11 inches or so of room so that the GPU actually fits.

If it doesn't then you either need to remove your hard drive cage (good gaming cases allow you to do that) or if you have an ordinary case you're going to have to upgrade the chassis.

Very important that your power supply is a good quality PSU (branded, not cheap generic stuff) as well. Minimum is 500 watts and make sure your PSU at the very least has two PCIE 6+2 pin power cables to power the card.
If your power supply lacks such cables, chances are you don't have an adequate PSU.

  • 3GB of onboard RAM sounds a bit overkill at the moment, since even on the highest settings most recent games consume less than 800 MB of texture RAM. Only third party texture replacers from highly moddable games like the Fallouts and Skyrim could take RAM consumption to the 2 GB mark (with 4096x4096 retextures).

    • I have a few recent games hitting 1g on 1080p

    • I'm tipping you don't game above 1080p

  • does anyone know how long they take to process/deliver?

  • Anyone had their orders sent yet?

  • mine hast, has anyone else's? (just emailed them and asked..)

    • So your order was just not updating on the site though it had been sent out? Might have to email them myself.

  • sorry I meant mine hasn't* been shipped

  • As per their - http://www.esold.com.au/contact_us.php

What does "We cannot respond to "ETA" mean? They won't tell us when we get it???

    lucky i paid with paypal……..

    • Yeh that's exactly why i paid with paypal…..how long to wait now.

    • +2

I contacted esold via the 'contact us' email thing. Received a response within an hour saying that they are currently clearing the backlog from a busy past few weeks, extra staff have been put on etc.. and that all should be back to normal in the next day or so.

I'd give it another few days before getting too concerned. Delivery early next week would be my guess.

      • I got no response… emailed late last night….

        • Same no response yet..I'm happy to wait but a response would be nice.

"Graphics Cards are shipping out Monday, sorry for the minor delay we've had a larger than expected early January order rush Thanks for your order & support!"

    From their facebook page!

    • next monday? ~ I'll believe it when I get the shipping notice….

      • just got a shipping notice lol

        • I haven't yet :( booooooooooo lol

        • Got a shipping notice too - I'll eat my words now ~ but for some reason, I still have a feeling this is gonna go wrong.. like they gonna send up a 2gb 5770 instead …….. or somethign ridiculous like a DOA… =="

  • Anyone got them delivered or something. Or has your tracking updated?

    • Nope ~ still sitting under "Manifested" - whatever that means…

      21/01/13 - Shipment information received

      • Yep same. Here's hoping that eparcel tracking is being broken as usual. Though the paranoid side of me says esold has just submitted the label info for each order and hasn't actually dispatched the cards.

        Should know by tommorrow anyway…

        • Though the paranoid side of me says esold has just submitted the label info for each order and hasn't actually dispatched the cards. - exactly my thoughts…

        • ^ lol pretty much what im thinking.. or just eparcel is being a dud.. If any of you live in melb and didn't get it today. I reckon they still havent shipped them..

    • Still nothing.

      • Just checked tracking and mine is "onboard with driver for delivery today" (Melbourne). Phew.. BUT I bet they still just card me even though someone will be home. So frustrating AustPost delivery drivers :/
Still, this should be a nice upgrade from the mighty 8800gt

        • let us know how it goes.

        • Delivered! Ducked home at lunch and there she was, all shiny and perdy :)

Note - as its an e-parcel they dont need a signature so expect to have it left wherever the postie finds easiest. Mine was on the door step which is fine.

Opened it and had an "oh crap" moment when i coudn't see a 'OC' on the box, thinking they shipped the vanilla version. Then I noticed the white sticker on the side with the model number and all's good, it's the correct 'oc' version; same on the physical card.

          Happy camper here.

        • any game codes? just curious? :D

blah they didnt need anyone to sign it? I live in a unit.. I hope they just card it and take it to the post office?

        • yes there was.. free fall? or something i think, not a AAA title.

For a unit the might card it, hopefully. But than again that would add an extra day before you receive it so :)

        • Let us know if it works :) and doesn't DOA ! :)

        • yea let us know how the card goes!

        • Works awesomely. This thing is a beast, quiet too.
Murphys law though that origin was down so no battlefield to test grrr.

  • Did not arrive in my NSW post today :( (Got it delivered to work and post has already arrived) So I guess they haven't even bothered to send them yet. Luckily I am still waiting on all the other parts for my computer so not in a huge rush yet…

    • dont worry theres still a chance that the tracking is messed up, Parcels don't always come delivered with mail.

      • I'm in brisbane… I'm guess it won't get here till next week.

  • Just got an update. Looks like i'll be getting it tomorrow.

    • Just out of interest, what does your tracking say?

Was Auspost tracking just being weird or does the "in transit" date suggest your card started moving today?

      • transit at CHULLORA NSW so pretty much 95% it'll get delivered tomorrow.

        • Heh thanks, but was more interested in if it seemed that esold dispatched the card today or if Auspost tracking was bugging out for a few days :).

        • most likely it was auspost :(

        • I hate… auspost….. ~ soooo slowwwww ~

          or I'm just impatient….

        • Yes! updated! - 24/01/13 Shipment information approved DANDENONG SOUTH VIC

@$!@#!@#!@#!@###$$$ ~ sigh… took them 3 days to approve shipping information?

        • lol I just got mine. today. maybe youll get yours tomorrow?

        • its gonna be next week for sure…..
wanted it before the long weekend :(

        • Apparently they tried to deliver…….. @6:22 PM…..

no calling card or anything!! - Now closed for the long weekend……

        • And now it appears that AusPost has lost my package…….

  • Received mine yesterday and it is working great.Just wonder if anyone manage to get the 3 free games under the "never settle" promotion from AMD?

  • seems i have the worst luck..mine was faulty. They told me to send it back and i did. emailed 3 times for an update..haven't received nothing back. :/
