How come the exams cost 40% more for Australians than they do for Americans when our dollar is worth more than theirs ???

Is it the shipping cost ?

    • Its annoying :( Its $150 USD or $206 AUD for an exam. There isn't much you can do about it unfortunately. Its probably because of higher testing centre fees in AUS.

      • I have never done it myself (work pays for it so the bean counters wouldn't be happy) but think you can buy worldwide prometric exam vouchers for about $115 from ebay.

looks to be the one you're talking about. There is only one vendor selling it. No second shot, and expires at the end of this month. It's ideal for those that are sure they will pass, and have confidence in their knowledge of the products and how that maps to the Microsoft 'one way' of configuring said product.

Certainly for those wanting to sit the exam in the next 2 weeks, such a purchase is ideal!

        • I've looked several times in the past and have always been able to find vouchers for sale.

        • That's cool - I'll remember to look on ebay next time!

    • It cost more the same reason everything does…

      • Vegemite is cheaper here…

You can't even give that stuff away anywhere else…

anyone see the irony in IT 'pros' needing to retake exams

    • +2

      I didn't neg your post.
But I'd say it's good to offer retests, even if your a professional people do have bad days and it's good to have a safety net. Like you have an exam and you feel shit that day but you have to do it, you have a lot higher chance of not being able to focus. I dunno just my 2 cents.

going by that logic horrible drivers should get unlimited free retests and eventually scrape through cus they got the correct amount of multiple choice answers right?

      • You can re-book exams though.
Having said that every time i've had a free second chance offer i've stressed less and never needed it

    • Have you ever taken one of these exams? They are quite challenging and only passable if you have studied the material. The questions are mostly "theoretical" and not often explicitly applied in an operational IT role.

      • I've done a heap of these. Never studied for one.
My reckoning is that I take the first test without studying then if I fail I would go back and study for the second test.
But I have worked in IT for over 10 yrs and have a good working knowledge of the product before I take the test.

  • Might want to include the terms…. if your just starting to study now for the exam you wont have enough time as the

…as the what!? You didn't finish your sentence which is kinda ironic considering you're talking about not having enough time..lol

Give the guy a second shot

      • I guess he didn't even h

  • so…. fail and sit boring exam again for free.. great consolation

  • Just don't do what I did, pre-pay for 3 exams $459. Do one exam and then lose interest then find out I only had 1 year in total to complete the exams and now I have lost $290. As the voucher for the other two exams have expired.

    Never doing that again.

don't see why anyone with a full set of chromosomes would willingly do that

      • Lol! So funny but also a little mean. I'm torn between emotions here.

hmmm … so this is only a bargain if you fail your exam?

  • A semi-related one. If you already have the MCSE or MCSA for Windows Server 2008, Microsoft is offering free upgrade exams to Windows Server 2012.

Vouchers and details are available at -

    http://bsf01.com/Microsoft_Vouchers/MCSE_WS2012Upgrades.aspx

The vouchers are valid until the end of the year - great deal!

EDIT: it's not quite free - looks like it's an exam bundle, pay for for some get one free - sneaky!
