There's still a few aussie servers - in fact they still have regular organised matches too.
www.bittah.com is where you go to find out what's happening.
Basically there are matches every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights - tuesday being the biggest one.

Tantryl - there were free cd keys given out for a time, however that time has long since passed. This is the only way to play it for free now.
Awesome game. Favourite online multiplayer game of all time for me.
