Hiding Expired deals / or removing a deal from the front page upon expiry.

Hi All,
I'd like either a setting to hide expired deals,

Or for deals to be taken off the front page upon expiry.

Take this deal for example.
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96444
yes 2$ for a 4GB micro SD card is a good deal, but it expired in ~10 hrs of posting, some expire in less than an hour or so and the expired deal takes up valuable real estate on the home page for atleast 2 days.

We all visit here to get the best bargains we can get right ? not to find out the best bargains that have expired and we can't get?

Can the expired deals please be taken off the home page upon expiry?

i like to know about all the good deals that i miss out on :) but i think there should be an option to hide them if you don't want to see them

It has already been done for quite a while…

    1. Go to the new deals page. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals
    2. Click on settings (right hand side just below the title of the page)
    3. Under Front Page, make sure "do not show expired deals" is checked.

No more expired deals on the homepage! No more kicking yourself for missing out a great deal!

  • Thanks guys,
Wow, I obviously didn't know about this setting,

love it , especially being able to set the number of votes that decide the front page and being able to hide the negative ones.

    Love it !
    Thanks

  • is there no way to have expired deals hidden site wide? when I choose to hide expired deals under the settings section they reappear in "new deals" if I select a category (like fashion and apparel for example) - wouldnt "expired deals" be a relevant and useful separate category rather than an assumed part of a general search? its useful to see what a site like TheHut or Dick Smith tend to do (i.e. how big are the reductions, how common are the sales) but its a headache spotting which deals are active sometimes
