    Warning, as before:

The Chaser team exposes how Swisse deceptively sell worthless snake oil. Don't be gullible.

    http://www.abc.net.au/tv/thecheckout/episodes/ep01.htm

    The TGA is a joke.

    • already knew these things were BS but have to say I enjoyed how cheesy this video was :)

    • very entertaining and informative video, thanks for making my day! :)

    • Hmmm haven't got time to watch it right now, but the couple of Swisse products I do use I feel do a good job.

      • The only good job they do is emptying your wallet

      • placebo? ;)

        • Honestly I take one of those Berocca style tabs and can't say conclusively for that.

But the other one I take contains ingredients from a certain plant which helps substantially. I've tried many things over the years so I don't think it's a placebo effect.

          "Mary Jane, Mary Jane

I'm in love with Mary Jane.
          She's my main thing.
          She makes me feel alright.
          She makes my heart sing.
          And when I'm feeling low,
          She comes as no surprise.
Turns me on with her love.
          Takes me to paradise."

Is that the one we're talking about here, ZRXS12? :)

        • ??

        • Na don't do that anymore.

          lol. Good on u:)

    • did you see the episode 5? apparently the tga cancelled the approval for swisse ultiboost appetite suppressant http://www.tga.gov.au/industry/cm-cancellations-cr.htm , promptly renamed swisse hunger control with "traditionally used in india" labelling lol

After the damage being done to the brand by Ellen DeGeneres. Swisse is desperate to regain the market share:

  • Most of the contents in multivitamins are urinated out. You get more than enough from a decent diet.

    • +5

Unless you have a deficiency due to illness, medications etc.

    • What if one doesn't have a decent diet?

      • pills are not going to replace a good diet

        • Sure, but do pills like this make a difference if the diet doesn't change?

    • +1

Unless you love needles, there isn't really a better way of getting nutrient into the body. so while most of the vitamins you take comes right back out, there are still some that get absorbed. At the end of the day, don't take it unless there are some actual deficiency.

    • You get more than enough from a decent diet.

Or even a crappy diet of take-away junk food.
In Australia, a poor diet means too much salt, sugar, saturated fat, etc, rarely a lack of essential nutrients.
Vitamin deficiency is found sometimes in severe alcoholics, or old ladies living on jam sandwiches.

Indications for vitamin supplement include folate in pregnancy, due to a rare but severe condition.
Just eating lots of junk food and feeling tired will not be helped by supplements.

Catalogue prices not live on website yet.. hm.

    • The Catalogue isn't displaying for me on Lasoo. It says there isn't one for Chemist Warehouse. Perhaps it was made live prematurely?

  • +1

Is it 50% off Chemist Warehouse prices, or the RRP prices they list on their price tags?
Woolworths have Cenovis and Nature's Own for 40% off until tomorrow, and seeing as they are normally much cheaper than Swisse, chances are that will be a better deal.

    • Its off RRP.

  • These vitamins are rubbish. If you're unhealthy you need to get off your arse and exercise, while eating a good balanced diet. If not, there isn't a pill that'll change a thing, not unless your doctor as made you aware of a deficiency. But 9/10 there are healthier alternatives to finding the magic pill. The magic pill doesn't exist!

  • went to a store, sale hasn't started yet :/ when does it start?

    • Bit odd for sure as the Catalogue was up (live) before when i looked ?

  • Does Swisse sell any homeopathic products?

    • be careful, you don't want to overdose on homeopathic medicines :)

  • Avoid Chemist Warehouse! They have specials all over the shop but their RRPS are most of the time twice that of the major supermarkets. Stopped by one yesterday out of curiosity to see if I could get my glucosamine caps any cheaper. I was astonished to see their heavily discounted items all more expensive than the woolies everyday prices. Such a shame so many people who don't investigate properly will be conned by the use of these bright special tickets and use of misleading words.

By the way I had a friend who is a pharmacist and he says all the regular staff are on minimum wage and the pharmasists are paid the minimum award wage for phamacists. The owners are ruthless!

      I find them OK.

I always pay less than other places or I don't buy which so far never happened.

I just bought Swisse Vit D 250 pack for about $12, good deal. Woolies often only sell the 60 pack for that price.

      • Good deal? Got the same Swisse Vit D 250 pack from priceline for $9 when it was advertised. Mum was pleased…
