Kiss Limited Edition Beer Slabs 24x 500ml $30 BWS Emerald (Vic) Save $50

160

Clearance item. Not sure about other stores. Probably tastes like makeup but the attendant said most were planning on storing it away for 20 years to sell when it's worth $35. Either way it's a lot of beer for $30. There was about 20 slabs left.

Never drank this but its cheap considering they are 500ml cans.

  • Wow, that stuff is still eighty bucks a slab at Dan Murphys.

At DM's, it's described as "A careful brewing process creates its great head of foam, nice flavour, and a balanced bitterness, like an original 'Pils.' "…

… so yeah, it probably tastes like makeup! :-D

  • if they can charge $30 and still make money off it, isn't it a bit criminal to have it at $80 as it's everyday price?

    • Just because they are selling them for $30 doesn't mean that they paid <= $30. As an example, when beers are on special for multi-buys (e.g., 2 slabs for $70) then the store can lose money on every sale (depending on the brand of beer). This loss normally isn't much (normally $1 or $2), but it IS still a loss…..

If the Kiss beer is getting close to the best-before / use-by dates then the management probably figures that $30 a slab now is better than $0 a slab when they expire. The line could also have been deleted, so they need to sell the stock to free up the space for the next product.

      • Nah that's BS for the beers on special. BWS either buys at a reduced invoice price, or claims the money "lost" based on scan sales. WW, Coles, BWS, Dan M etc never lose money during specials. The supplier fits the bill and counts on a huge sales increase to make up the lost margin. If the sale is a success they use the scan data to push more of their product line into stores. It's competitive and one of the ways multi-nationals push out local suppliers.

    • I doubt they're making money on it, they're just trying to make less of a loss on an underselling product.

  • Kiss beer, eh? What will they think of next…

      Kiss Icey Poles… oh wait.

      • Any damn good they were too

I'm pretty sure Kiss have thought of everything. Just about anything that could be merchandised, has been merchandised.

    • Condoms!… oh wait that's done already

Add some Lemonade and you will get "Shandi"

    • I think you just have to be a certain age. You got a + from me.

    • And the lemonade they WILL make a profit on :P

Thread title should be "Kiss Piss $30"

Beer costs about 17c/litre to make, allow a little tax for packaging and someone is still making good money off this.

    • That someone is the government. There would be about $18 dollars excise per slab on this plus $3 GST.

  • Kiss not on sale at my local bws (brunswick) but found Mclaren Vale Ale on clearance instead -really decent craft brew. $21 for a 12x330ml slab reduced from $36 (cf $65.99 for a 24x330ml slab or $14.49 p/4x330ml at dans). Got the last two "half" slabs for $42. None left at my local but worth looking for it if you visit another bws for Kiss…

        That it tastes like money.

  • I use to love KISS but that money hungry Gene Simmons has totally ruined KISS for me.

great deal..Its the equivalent of $22.50 a case if it were 375ml cans (if I have my maths right)

  • Anyone know if this is only at the one store?

  • Price match ??????

  • BWS Williamstown (VIC) gave me a case for $32. They were marked at $17/6pack

    How bad can it be…

  • kiss the prostitutes of merchandise

  • Bought a 6 pack as a bit of a laugh. Tastes like crap. 6 out of 6 bottles half the contents emptied itself down the sink. That was after sitting in the fridge for a week.
Emailed the makers with a photo and never heard back. $30 is still too expensive for this rubbish.

    • a touch too much

  • still $80 a case at my local Preston BWS, so it is store specific.
