$400 when you purchase 30” High Colour Wide Screen UltraSharp LCD Monitor. Maximum 3 units purchased per customer. Offer ends 16th August 2007.

30” HC Wide Screen UltraSharp LCD Monitor - The Dell 30” HC UltraSharp Wide Screen Monitor requires a DVI-D dual-link graphic card that supports WQXGA (2560 x 1600) resolution. This monitor is optimized to work with Dell Dimension 9150 desktops, Dell Precision workstations (380, 470 and 670) and additional systems that support WQXGA. It is a visual wonder, boasting a fast response time, high contrast ratio and ultra-high resolution. Color and detail have never looked better or bigger thanks to the brilliantly bright display and Dell’s UltraSharp technology.

Not bad - I wish we had another Dell family and friends offer to go with it

Does the 30 inch require special video card to power it? How does it compare with Apple’s 30 inch Cinema display?

I don’t know about the second question.

AFAIK the 30” Dell has many inputs on it.
OK maybe not.
The 27” does…

Dell has a contrast ratio of 1000:1, versus Apple’s 700:1

Dell has response time of 12ms versus 14ms.

Apple has standerd DVI input, which will work with most modern graphics cards. DVI-D with the Dell is less common, but not an issue as most cards have dual output, and give you an adapter to use if you don’t have a DVI monitor.

I hope that didn’t confuse you.
If I had a choice I’d go for the Dell (Just by looking at the specs).

Thanks Duke. I think the requirement of DVI-D would rule out most if not all notebook users even with docking stations :(

Are both 8 bit?
