ThinkPad T Series offers the perfect blend of performance and portability.

Just saw Dell’s new “Business Basic” notebook “Vostro”, which targets lower-end of business users, where as Latitude continues to focus on the higher end.

It is part of Dell’s End of Financial Year 2006-2007 sale. For $1,599, you can get the ultra-portable 1.98KG Dell XPS 1210 with the following spec:

• Core 2 Duo T5600 1.87GHz
• 2GB RAM
• 160GB HDD
• DVD Burner
• Integrated graphics

Delivery included, and you can customise it with either Windows XP Media Centre edition or Windows Vista Home Premium.

Dell is doing a lappy + LCD monitor combo with XPS M1210 (12” widescreen, 2kg, Core 2 Duo) and 20” Entry LCD. A base model of M1210 costs $1,599, and you can get both for $1,899 which means the 20” LCD is effectively $300 extra (usually $399 delivered). Moreover you can configure it with Windows XP Media Centre Edition (instead of Vista Home) so 1Gb RAM might actually be enough :)

Aldi’s surprise buy for this week — a well-spec’ed Core 2 Duo computer for $1299. It’s a Medion MD 8818 Entertainment PC with Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6300 (1.86Ghz), and is Windows Vista ready.
