OzBargain.com.au runs competitions and gives out cash prizes every week throughout the year as a way to give thanks to those who have contributed to this website. OzBargain runs itself from selling advertisement, and we would like to pass some of the money we have made to our contributors. So now you not only can check out great Australian deals, you can also join the competition to win real rewards.

Since February 2007, every week we will be giving out AUD$40 worth of prize to two winners ($20 each).

They can be either in the form of PayPal fund transfer (PayPal account required which you can sign up here), or as a gift voucher of your preferred Australian online store (for example, $20 gift voucher from Deals Direct).

Easy.

1. Register an account. Make sure you use the correct email address as that's where the prize notification email will be sent to.
2. Post a deal. Please make sure that your bargain conforms to the submission guideline!

That's it! For every genuine deal you have submitted, it will give you a chance to win the prize, up to 5 entries per week. A deal is genuine if

1. It has at least two more positive votes than negative votes. For example a deal that got 4 positive votes but 3 negative votes does not qualify as a genuine deal.
2. It must not be submitted by a merchant. Merchants and shop owners have already enjoyed free-advertisement from this site so let us give the prize to real bargain hunters.

Every Thursday at 12:00pm AEST time (mid-day Sydney time), I will pick two winners from all the submissions from the previous 7 days. Both winners will receive AUD$20 prize each.

• Most Popular Prize. The submitter whose deal has received most votes from the last 2 weeks. If there are multiple deals that have the same number of votes, the winner will be randomly picked from the submitters of these deals.

• Random Prize. A winner will be randomly picked from all entries.

There are a few exceptions to the rule:

• A submitter cannot win both prizes. When someone wins the Most Popular Prize, all his/her entries will be removed from the weekly pool so he/she cannot win the random prize again.
• A submitter cannot win any prize if he/she has won prizes two weeks in a row.

We like to give chances to more people :)

Winners each week will be posted to our weekly competition forum every Thursday afternoon. An automated email will also be sent to the prize winner with instructions on how to claim the prize.

At OzBargain we do not like people gaming on the voting system. Please do not create multiple accounts to inflate the number of votes to your deals (in order to win prizes). You will be warned, and subsequent offences will lead to account termination.

A competition is only enjoyable if everyone plays fair.

One of the frequently asked questions from the merchants is how do I sponsor OzBargain's weekly competition. Yes, it is possible – please use the contact form for details. What we need are:

• Which month are you preparing to start?
• What prizes are you committed to provide?

A general guideline on the “prize” – flashier the better :)

• Without sponsorship, OzBargain gives out 2x $20 PayPal credit per week, so that should be the baseline.
• It needs to be something desirable by the general audience of OzBargain.
• We are free to reject your sponsorship proposal.

Each sponsorship should be committed to at least one month (i.e. 4-5 weeks). If your sponsorship has been accepted, we will place you on the “Up-coming Sponsors” queue.

What you will receive in return is a small 120×60 button linked to your website on almost every page on OzBargain, for the duration of the competition (usually a month).
