StudentVIP.com.au
Student VIP is a subscription-based service that allows you to get discounts on various magazines and newspapers. It also offters access to other student-related services such as student grants, textbook rebates, textbook exchanges, accomodation/travel and other useful services.
There is no subscription fee and the service costs nothing to join. The catch, however, is that you will be emailed marketing material weekly.
StudentVIP has partnerships with Apple Inc. and works in conjunction with Apple to offer discounted computer hardware and software.
Student bank account fees waived
Some banks will waive account fees if you show them your student card. For instance, CBA waive the smart transaction account monthly fee and the student credit card annual fee. Westpac waive the choice account monthly fee, etc.
Non-location based deals
Deals that apply to students nation-wide, not based on your state/city etc.
Discounted Laptops from Apple and Lenovo
Lenovo offers savings of between 8-15% on select Lenovo Thinkpad laptops and ultrabooks.
Apple - Buy a Mac for uni and receive a A$ 100 Student Gift Card to use on apps, books, music and movies. Or buy an iPad with Retina display and get a A$ 50 Student Gift Card. If you choose a Mac, you can save with Apple education pricing.
Dropbox Sync and Cloud storage
Sign up to Dropbox using an .EDU domain email address and get double the storage every time you refer a friend.
LastPass
Lastpass is a cloud based password manager. You can get 6 months free access to their Premium service by using your .EDU domain email address. For more information about Lastpass and their Premium service, read this post.

Free Microsoft software for students at DreamSpark
Grants free downloads to Microsoft Developer's software and Windows Server OS's. Requires a .edu email address or an ISIC (International Student ID) card to be eligible.
Office 365 - 4 year subscription for $99
TAFE and University staff and students are egible for a cloud-based Microsoft Office suite that works online in a browser anywhere, anytime. Office 365 features cloud storage and collaboration features, as well as free Skype minutes and other future enhancements that are given to you free within your subscription period.

Newspapers & Magazines
www.studentmagazines.com.au has very good deals for students. Be careful that when you make a subscription, “bonuses” that are usually on the front of the magazines are not included.
TIP: most newspapers will allow you to subscribe to a newspaper for $15-25/year during o-week. You are given a card that allows you to pick up the newspaper for free at the newsagency, and the Saturday paper is delivered to your house.

NSW - Transport Discount tickets for International Students

From early 2013, MyMulti2 and MyMulti3 discounted tickets will be available to international students through their tertiary institutions during enrolment. Savings between 25% to 35%.
These tickets can only be ordered through a tertiary institution.
