GoPro HERO10 Black with 1 Year GoPro Subscription and 32GB MicroSD $529.95 Delivered @ GoPro

250

Looks like a decent deal.
I'm not 100% sure why but I was only charged $459.96. I had my card details compromised the same day after making the purchase and had to cancel my card but it looks like they charged me for the subscription separately the day after. Because I cancelled my card they haven't been able to charge me for the $70 subscription which I don't want anyway. I'm going to see if they just cancel my subscription or try to chase the $70 up. The camera has already been posted with tracking so they can't stop it now.

  • OP, you sure you weren't already a subscriber?

    • +1

Yeah 100% sure. I've never owned a gopro and they sent me an email the day after I ordered it saying that I need to update my payment details for the gopro subscription.

  • I think you can avoid the subscription fee by using a prepaid debit card as they always charge it later for some reason

After hearing about sub-par customer service from GoPro themselves, I price matched this same deal last time with Officeworks via their phone sales (1300633423), and got the camera for $503.

"Pro" tip - you can get a free month trial of the GoPro subscription via the mobile app, then get cheap accessories from the official GoPro website - eg: protective housing case is $45.

Edit: Also, for those with a 3D printer, these charging/SD card doors and zip tie mount are great:

    • So I need to pay $45 for an accessory to get the subscription free for a month?

      • +3

No - you get a free one month subscription via the mobile app, which then allows you to get cheap accessories like a $90 housing for $45.

What benefits are included with GoPro Subscription?

Up to 50% off on Cameras, Mounts, and Accessories

        • +1

          Ah, that’s pretty good then!

    • After hearing about sub-par customer service from GoPro themselves, I price matched this same deal last time with Officeworks

100% the way to do it. Go Pro support is absolute garbage.

      • Is office work include the micro SD?

    • Looks like you get a 32GB microSD from GoPro direct, but I couldn't see that listed under the bundle at Officeworks/JB. Did you get this, too?

      • +1

Nah, just the camera. Wasn't too fussed, as 32GB cards are dirt cheap, and I had a few 128GB spares in the draw from previous deals.

Common trick if you are quick enough to cancel Paypal authorisation before the Subscription charge comes through:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/611922#comment-10235128

    • not working anymore, they will charge you straightaway.

      • +1

Just use a prepaid card (like Revolut one time use cards) with $460 as available balance :D
Just worked now, of course you should never use Debit Card or Credit Card for subscriptions, we are out of the 90s now :D

      • With just PayPal or all payment types? OP dodged it.

        • I dodged it a while ago with PayPal. Just sign up then cancel subscription before they deduct the annual fee.

  • I signed one-month trial of their subscription and the price changed to $599 for me. lol

    • Yep, if I signed into my account showed me $599, and if I signed out as a guest $529. Ended up checking out with my travel debit card and got charged $460. They really have a great loyalty program LOL.

      • Is the 529$ or 599$ is worthy?

        • Not sure what you mean, but no I don’t think it’s worthwhile at $599. I feel comfortable with the $460 I paid.

  • +1

The subscription fees are in a separate transaction

    Also this is standard pricing

  • These guys are really struggling to move them. Never seen a newly released camera on so many promos… Constantly getting emails from them with discounts

    • Probably not a big leap from the previous model to justify current owners moving to the current model.

      • -1

Tbh it's worse.. I have a hero 7 black and it's not really enough for me to move up yet

        • +2

HERO10 is substantially better in stabilisation and image quality than a 7.

          • @Mitch889: Not substantially enough for me to fork out $500+

Also a note it all depends what you are using it for. Mine is on my bike on track, on the ute, on the dog and realistically that's all. If you doing more than that sure but I don't use it for more than that. If you look at reviews comparing the 2 and Reddit or forums most people with 7 say the same as me.

            • @quikstix: If you don’t care about stabilisation or image quality you don’t even need to spend as much as a go pro. But I would be curious for you to share some links to all these comparisons saying that the 10 isn’t a meaningful improvement over the seven, no review or video I have read has suggested such a thing.

As an owner of every go pro from hero 5 to 9, the 8 was a good improvement and the 9 significant one. I’ve ordered a 10 because I want to stop using the 8s, and the removable lens cover is great for swapping out for polarisers and ND filters.

              • @Mitch889: literally a YouTube search will come up with everything you need. I definitely care about image quality and stabilisation but as I said my hero 7 black is good enough for my needs… You keep not reading that line. I use my drone and my mirrorless far more and I spend my money there.

Oh and I have owned GoPros from the 1st one until the 7 except I skipped the 6. I've had the session 5 also.

I fully get the filter need if you really need that, I just don't.. or haven't really for 95% of my use case. If I used my GoPro more than maybe but I don't.

                • +1

@quikstix: You replied to a comment suggesting that the 10 wasn’t much better than the 7 by saying “ Tbh it's worse”.

The 9 has significant improvements over the 7, and the 10 is better still. I you have a 7 and that works for you, great 👏

                  • @Mitch889: Dude or Dudette… It isn't that much better soz. If I didn't have 7/8/9 I would be wowed… I'm not.

IF however YOU actually use the improved stabilisation mainly for running or horizon stuff sure.(Ive seen track day footage on a range of cameras and the 7 is plenty good enough). Hyperlapse /time warp then sure but both those aren't massive improvement from the 8 to 10.

End of the day I'm not saying the 7 matches or comes close to the 10 in every way. I'm saying for what I use it for and apparently alot of others the benefit isn't there. Again for this use case.

What do you do will yours? Kinda curious now seeing as we got deep into it haha

        • I agree with @mitch889, I also found your statement:

          Tbh it's worse..

Totally innacurate. It's defintely NOT worse, it has significant improvements. I understand those improvements might not be appropriate to you though.

          • @thedriver: Lol you don't understand what I said… I never said the device is worse… I said it's worse in the fact that most 7 owners don't feel the need to upgrade… I think you need to practice some reading skills

            • @quikstix: That may be what you meant, but it’s not what you said.

              • @Mitch889: Read the comment I was replying to, then read my reply. It's exactly what i said….

    • ~$530 is the normal price for the current model, only the included accessories differ. If you can wait you'll get better inclusions.

  • does not mention you need to provide your own data in any of the terms and conditions for the subscription or live streaming.

  • What’s the subscription for?

    • +1

Gopro Plus. Cloud storage, discounts on accessories, damaged camera replacement are the main points.

My Hero10 arrived yesterday, only four days from order! Thanks again OP. Total cost $459.96.

    • +1

Hey mate, did you get it for $459.96 because you bought it with a prepaid card?

      • Yep, loaded up my prepaid Visa with $460. The invoice in my emails and in the box was for $460, no mention of the gopro subscription. 32GB card was in the box too.

        • Awesome. Thanks heaps. I’ve never bought a prepaid credit card before and the limited amount I’ve google I can sort of assume they’re all the same? If so, the Aus Post card with $7.95 fee would be fine?

    • Nice. Mine hasn't arrived yet. It said that it was held up in customs and will be here Friday.

  • +1

Back in stock. I ordered one, some discount accessories and used a disposal Revoult credit card which didn't cover subscription. So far so good! Now I await delivery…

    • How long does it take to get a card?

      • It's a virtual card, so very quickly - as long as it takes to make an online account. Can't remember if I needed to verify anything…

        • Oh cool do you have the link you used for the virtual card?

        • Ah worked it out all good. Put $460 on the card and payment went through. Thanks.

          • @Jklaro: Awesome. Revolut is pretty cool by the by.

    • Was delivered in about 5 days, so all worked well. Though they didn't include the MicroSD…

  • +1

Thanks, OP. I ordered one by prepaid Master card.
I received an email today to ask me to update my payment method

We're having trouble authorising your payment method on file.
Perhaps you received a new credit card or the card has expired?

though the GoPro10 has been sent out.
It feels really dodge, but I like it.

  • Any attachments anyone recommends?

    • I saw that there is a floaty orange case which I'm going to buy.
I think I will mainly use mine in the ocean and it will be handy for the day that I inevitably drop it while swimming around.
I bought an mount that connects to a diving mask made by ScubaPro, it was about $15
The selfie stick looks good if you're going to try film yourself while moving around and if you're going to set it up to film yourself / take photos maybe a tripod too.

      • Those bright coloured floaty case or attachments are very handy. I got one for my osmo action.

A tripod is handy also. You can get those bendy tripod for attaching your action cam to say fences or tree branches.

  • Is there anybody else doing a price match/beat on this? Officeworks is completely sold out of the Hero10 :(

    • Back in stock. Price beaten for camera only. $503.45

  • The new thread was deleted as duplicate. A few of us posted that our dealings with go pro directly were less than ideal. I didn't have my subscription activated and they never sent me the SD card. Horrible to deal with in terms of customer service and I regret ignoring the advice previously about avoiding dealing with them directly
