  • Thanks OP

  • Does anyone have any real-world experience with this and the Momentum 3?

    • +2

this has much better ANC over SM3… Momentum 3 has better audio though..

  • Does JB price match this kind of add to cart discount thing?

    • If it's noted as a clearance , then no.

Not sure as it's an additional 30% at checkout, it might not be honoured.

It's easy enough to call and ask….if the assistant is generous they might honour it. Just try and see…..gotta risk it for the brisket

  • Thanks! Was looking for a new pair to replace my XM2’s as I’m travelling overseas next week.

Don't forget to claim the GST back via TRS :)

      • If you claim back the GST, does that mean you cannot bring this headphone back to AU?

        • +3

Total under $1000 you dont have to declare.

  • +1

    Thanks! Got them

2% cashback with cashrewards aswell (extra $6.60 off)

  • Use them with my C1 oled via Bluetooth and NC off (late at night) get excellent battery life and also Sound quality

    • did u notice any delays? e.g. lip sync issues?

      • +2

Nah nothing yet mate and that's with the ps5 hooked into the tv and also plenty of movies using Netflix directly on the c1

        • I use my Bose QC 35s with my C1 and it's great. Also use them with PS5 but via the cable as Bluetooth audio can't be used with the game setting.

    This or XM4?

    • +2

I have this for $330 2 years ago and regret not buying the XM4

      • +1

wow - care to elaborate why? I am also looking at xm4 vs this vs the new qc bose

        • +6

Main issue is the annoying auto device switching - usually on a Teams or Zoom call and will randomly drop out, or switch to my ringing phone which cuts me off the meeting with no warning. The only way to switch back is to turn the headphones off and on as they don't switch back automatically once the call is declined. The work around is to disable bluetooth on my phone and ipad whenever I jump on a meeting

They don't fold up very compact which is not the worst, but the plastic backs of the headphones bang on your collarbone when sitting on your neck since the earcups can only turn the wrong way

The ANC levels are also really weird in that some levels (maybe below 5/10?) will draw in external sound from it's microphones and amplifies it. On level 3 ANC in my office the A/C unit is actually louder when using the headphones than without - so I need to keep them at 5 or higher, which can get uncomfortable after a while

Compared to XM4s I've tried, would say the ANC on the XM4 is also better. On flights the Bose are pretty much near silent though so its ANC isn't by any means bad

Only upside is that I prefer the design of Bose and the microphones are good enough for work calls; normally you don't get that level of quality without a boom mic

    • If you’re after sound quality, the xm4 I used them for 2 months and the sound stage is amazing however the noise canceling has an annoying as F hiss while on which I couldn’t stand. The Bose 700 I’ve had for a year now and sound quality is nowhere near as good as xm4 but there’s zero hiss with noise canceling on which is why I went with bose

      • That hiss effect seems to vary from set to set from experience.

        • I went through 3 models in the span of 4 months, and all had the same hiss. I had to replace so many times because it sounded like something lose in the right ear cup so gave up and went with bose 🤷‍♂️

      • the soundstage is amazing

You do not know what soundstage is then, or your reference of "amazing" is awful.

I was contemplating the same but went with Bose for these reasons:
      - Better call quality (since most of us are working from home now, nice to have this and be able to listen to music when not on calls)
      - More minimal on designs but with a premium feel/look
      - Better build quality, not plasticky

Other nice features (which may or may not be for everyone):
      - Able to pair 2 devices at the same time but you run into issues mentioned by users, about switching unintendedly, not a huge issue for me
      - Touch censor for controls, quite intuitive and responsive
      - ANC has 1-10 levels, usually just defaults to full or half (could be customised i believe)
      - A neat feature to listen to outside noise by the press of the button, if you want it to remain on ears.
      - There's an equaliser in the Bose App

      Cons:
      - Not foldable but comes with a nice compact case for carrying.

      • XM4 has all those "nice to haves".

  • Any one knows what is the historical low for this one?

    • +1

      $299 after a quick search

  • The QC45 for $398 is better isn't it?

    • +1

Any thoughts on QC45 vs 700??

    • Calls are much better on the 700, but if that isn’t important for you it will largely come down to your preferences around form factor.

Touch vs physical buttons, appearance, comfort etc.

I wouldn’t pay $100 more for one over the other.

I have had many Bose headphones. some have broke some have not. I have Airpods Max headphones (yes the 900 dollar ones) I didn't pay the full retail for them but the noice canceling and transparency mode is unmatch to any head phone I have used its that good. the sound quailty on the other hand isn't raw, its of a compressed nature so its not the best sounding headphones and it atleast has a equaliser to change it the way you like to hear things. And then there is the price. The build quality blows away anything we have today though. Would I got back to another pair of bose? hard to say nothing has blown me away with bose in a long long time. if you looking at price I would go the sonys over these.

  • Do these headphones feel hot on the ears after sometime? Summer is coming

    • +3

I haven't found any over ear headphones that don't feel hot after some time. These ones get hot after about 40 minutes which is not bad for me.

    • +3

Definitely gets pretty sweaty under there.

      • under where

Happy to sell mine in black cheaper ;)

  • -2

    Ive had these for 5years.
Happy customer. It sucked until some firmware upgrade and now it's good. Battery life still good.

    • I dont think these have been out 5 years, have they?

      • +3

        No. Released 30 June 2019.

        • Some places say 29 March 2019, other August 2019. It's safe to say 2019.
        • +5

He's from the year 2024 to let us know how good these headphones still are.

      • More than 5, at least in covid years.

        • ah dang. sorry guys i got confused.
i bought my 5yo old laptops with qc35s which i gifted my dad, those qc35 died

and yes i indeed bought the 700s sept 2019 just before covid with the qantas frequent flyer deal.

          sorry! baby brain here.

anyway, they're very good. hopefully they'll make it to 2024 whereupon i may travel back to this date to make the same claim again

  • OOS on Bose 700, both colors

w/e scored B&W PX7 Carbon edition instead using some leftover DJ cards

    • Bose 700 has better NC

      • it's fine, I wasn't going to buy 700 anyway. don't like the design

I am keen to try PX7 Carbon though

        • B&W PX7 are good when they are on sale. I have the PX myself.

          • @congo: paid about $250 this time, I reckon not bad

          • @congo: dammit! loving my PX7 Carbon to the core. can hear nuances in my fav recording of 2nd partita for solo violin, just as Depeche Mode is shining like it never did. wow.

  • cool thing with these is if you turn noise cancelling off it actually effectively amplifies sounds and gives you slightly super human hearing.

i use them for music, you tube, teams calls, and while driving so i can listen to music and hear the traffic while the kids sleep in the car

  • DJ has blown their 3h click and collect promise. still waiting for my order to be ready for pickup

  • Thanks OP, picked up PX7 carbons, will be useful flying to the UK and GST claim saves $$

    • haha same. great choice. enjoying mine

  • Anyone had postage notification? I fly in 10 days!!
