Getting a Tax Invoice for a Microsoft eBay Store Surface Purchase

I have made a Microsoft eBay Store Surface purchase and require a tax invoice for this. I can see no option within the eBay purchase to request an invoice and nothing has been sent automatically.

My item has dispatched and is in transit.
Do they ship a paper tax invoice with it? Or is there another method to request a tax invoice?

I need a proper tax invoice with ABN for ATO purposes.

Am hoping Ozbargainers have come across this already.

    You'll have to contact Microsoft via eBay Messages for them to send you an invoice.

    You'll likely get one in or attached to the outside of the package.

    If not, start by sending them an ebay message and request one.

  • They won't send you one unless you hassle them. Then they will send you a jpeg attachment in an ebay message which will NOT say the words "Tax Invoice" anywhere but will state "VAT" under the total amount. Apparently their system doesnt allow them to change the formatting of this (fake?) 'invoice'.

    I went through TRS for an item before going overseas and they rejected my claim as there was no place it mentioned that the invoice was in fact a "TAX invoice". Hopefully, ATO won't mind in your case.

    Let's hope you never need warranty on your laptop as since the dodgy invoice, I've had even more issues with this store. I had issues with my laptop, asked for warranty… they offered refund which I gladly accepted. $3k laptop was picked up by their courier within 2 days… four weeks later still no refund and constant back and forth over ebay messages with no responses from them for days.

    Never again buying from this scam store.

  • I'm still waiting for the refund. I got it escalated via the courier service (who were very nice to help) but even after that, still nothing. Latest message just last week was that they apparently have already processed it but miraculously, it has not reached my account even though the details in their portal are correct. I called the bank as well and there are no pending transfers from them.

    I'm taking screenshots of every interaction and portal screen etc and the only reason I have not reached out to Fair Trading is that they are at least communicating and not just ignoring or blocking me. I fear that if I report them, it might take even longer and they will just ghost me in the meantime.
