The 32GB of RAM ensures smooth multitasking and allows running multiple applications simultaneously without performance hiccups. The 1TB NVMe SSD provides ample storage space and offers significantly faster data transfer speeds compared to traditional hard disk drives.

The 15.6-inch OLED display offers superior image quality with deeper blacks, higher contrast ratios, and wider color gamut compared to traditional LCD displays. This makes it an excellent choice for content creation, media consumption, and color-accurate work.

Price Point

At $1,989, this laptop offers a compelling combination of high-end components and features typically found in more expensive models. The inclusion of an OLED display, a powerful Ryzen 7 processor, and a generous amount of RAM and storage make it a cost-effective option for professionals, content creators, and power users seeking a premium computing experience.

Would love to know if there is something better at similar price

I might be missing something, but the 5800H looks to have similar performance to the more efficient 7730U (https://nanoreview.net/en/cpu-compare/amd-ryzen-7-7730u-vs-a…), and there was a deal posted recently to a 15.6" OLED 7730U equipped model for $1k (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/844113). Yep, half the RAM and half the SSD, but also half the cost!

EDIT: actually clicked the link and it's a 7735U, not a 5800H. Point still stands, can't imagine the performance jump from 30 to 35 is massive. The screen is also a 120Hz vs 60Hz for the $1k laptop, but from an OzB perspective, nothing stands out as this one being a bargain

        • The biggest jump between the 7730U and 7735U was the hugely improved iGPU. It's also Zen 3+ instead of Zen 3.

        • How about weight Tim. Definitely a good find there from you.

if you regularly check Ozbargain then you know that there are heaps of really good deals on Laptops with good specs and price, this one is not one of them. Trust me bro, otherwise people would be jumping on this deal with + votes.

        • Lol… let the +ve votes speak.

  • 15.6 OLED must be so nice to look at but at $2k not really cheap enough

$2k for a laptop with no discrete GPU? I guess you're paying for the OLED screen. It's only 1080p as well

    • That's my gripe. No GPU really limits what you can do, and extra useless RAM won't fix that.

    Poor spec for the money.

    $1399, add 70 for another 16GB ram

    • Thank you. Learning a lot.

    • Above HP is a definitely a good deal considering

      • No idea why the Elitebooks are much cheaper than Thinkpad equivalent. Elitebook 14" tend to be ram upgradeable too (Lenovo mostly soldered).

Elitebook 645 R7 5850U with 16GB is going for mid 900 @ megabuy eBay with eBay plus. Not bad as a work/study/general purpose machine.

Otherwise Elitebook 845 R7 6xxx-7xxx are fetching for 1300-1500 AUD inclusive of GST and delivery charges.

I'd prefer their model with the 7940HS, with a 3.2K OLED at 120Hz, but with only 16GB or RAM. I'd rip out the 8GB SO-DIMM, throw in a 32GB stick for 40GB of RAM for less than <$140 extra.

Faster CPU, faster GPU, high resolution screen, though slower RAM as only 16GB in DDR mode, for $1549.00 + $140 for extra 32GB RAM.

    • Is the Zenbook a more premium product though?

      https://www.perplexity.ai/search/Whats-the-biggest-rhl9nNIEQ…

      • Yes, they are. I had focus primarily on the main specs, which are superior on the Vivobook except the RAM, but I pointed out that can be fixed and still under the lower cost. People of course may prefer the nicer touches on the Zenbook, such as the premium body and faster USB port, though I'm not sure who wants a faster USB port with slower components on it.

  • right now, i'd stay away from ASUS, after the shit they're pulling
